I was a bridesmaid this summer at a wedding where Alexs flowers provided the bouquets and centerpieces. I was also at the initial appointments where the bride planned out her flowers. Honestly anyone could have done better, not just any florist... any person off of the street. The flowers arrived less than an hour before the ceremony and looked okay. The handles of the bouquets hadnt been trimmed well and were super long. It was difficult to hold the bouquets. Then there were the pins and wires sticking out everywhere. One of those stray wires found their way into a junior bridesmaids finger. But its not like we carried the bouquets for long b/c they wilted during the ceremony. Seriously, the flowers were dead on arrival. I could have gotten some bunch flowers at Whole foods down the street and tied them with a ribbon and those flowers would have lived through the ceremony and made it to photos. We put them in water and spritzed them but dead is dead. The centerpieces were also nearly dead when we arrived to the reception. Puny and dead. Im currently planning a wedding and definately wouldnt use Alexs flowers, nor would I recommend them to anyone else. You cannot deliver old dead flowers to a wedding, especially when you charge 10/stem for a spray painted flower. A rebuttle shouldnt have 5 stars. Rating yourself is not cool. I saw that huge piece of wire sticking out of the bouquet and covered it with extra ribbon myself. The wedding was in July (not sure why the review shows being posted in November). Being on the Knot for 6 years doesnt mean a thing. Dont you pay for advertisement on there? They have the names of nearly every florist in town on their list. Being listed there means NADA! Im not a jealous florist. If you see a bad review do not assume that its because someone out there is "jealous"... its because you did a bad job. I can only imagine another florist being jealous b/c they have to provide creativity and fresh flowers for the same money you get for dead and ugly flowers. I guess I would be jealous too if someone else was getting paid the same to do a lot less!

I ordered flowers for my mother-in-law for Mothers Day. The delivery person went to the wrong address (apartment 501 instead of 510) and apparently stopped and had a coffee with the person at the wrong address, then finally delivered the flowers to my M-I-L. Anyone else wonder why their flowers were late? Maybe this is why! The flowers were even worse than the delivery. The arrangement picture showed large roses, along with daisies and lillies. The actual roses were very tiny. And, they turned black and DIED in ONE day! Also, the flower stems were set in a block of oasis that was floating in the top of the CLEAR vase. This looked stupid - you could see the greyish-green oasis "plug" at the top of the vase. I got the feeling that they used sub-par flowers with broken stems to make this, and thats why they had to stick them into the oasis. They could have at least tried to hide it with a wide ribbon or something. I was hugely disappointed and will never order from East End again. Go with Gidas in Oakland - they never disappoint. Ive learned my lesson!

I have both received flowers ordered from Alexs and sent flowers to others using Alexs Flowers. The flowers that I receive from Alexs are ALWAYS gorgeous, and the roses Ive received have opened up into beautiful arrangements that last much longer than one might expect. As one girl in the my office said when my last arrangement arrived, "you are well taken care of." Yep! Part of that is compliments of my husband, and the other part is thanks to Alexs Flowers. I have also used Alexs to send flowers to business associates, and was recently told by one individual that the arrangement she received was the most gorgeous arrangement she had ever seen. Finally, a word on customer service. I have called Alexs Flowers when they have been extremely busy, and I could hear people coming in and out of the store and phones ringing; but, customer service has always been friendly, professional, and top-notch -- a hard thing to find these days! I will definitely continue to use Alexs Flowers whenever the occasion arises.

I came into Alexs Flowers a week before my wedding due to a glitch in prior plans and they were EXCELLENT! Not only did Alex agree to do the flowers, he also treated me like he would have any other bride and wanted to know as many details as possible to create the perfect flowers. Alex gave his advice and opinion while giving me plenty of choices and freedom. He knew exactly what to ask, far better than I knew what to tell him. When we picked the flowers up for our wedding, the bouquets, centerpieces, boutonnieres, were beyond BEAUTIFUL! Even though the shop closed at different times during the day, Alex worked around my schedule to find a time to meet - just because the store was closed didnt mean that he couldnt meet me! If youre in Pittsburgh and need flowers for your wedding, go with Alexs flowers!

We got married on June 30th and used Alexs Flowers. I will start by saying that our flowers were BEAUTIFUL!! At the beginning of the wedding process, Alex sat down with my husband and I to get some ideas going. Alex listened to everything we asked for and was very flexible with all changes along the way! We even made changes the week of the wedding and Alex was able to accommodate us. He is very easy to get in contact with and always helpful. Alex allowed us to pick anything we wanted and had some really great ideas for us! I love leopard print and Alex was even able to incorporate a classy touch on the stems of our bouquets! The flowers were sooo beautiful and I received so many compliments! I would recommend Alexs Flowers to anyone! =)

Alexs Flowers lost my business before I even stepped in the door. They are right around the corner from me and I was going to get some birthday flowers. I just happened to glance at the reviews on here when I noticed "Alex" was responding to negative reviews with his own. Extremely unprofessional. You are a business, sometimes people will be unhappy. Learn to deal with it. Dont post your own review, claiming that its probably another "jealous florist" giving you the bad reviews. I highly doubt there is vicious sabotage going on in the world of floral arrangement. And if you are going to post things on the internet, at least correct your grammar. Once again, very unprofessional.

This is bar far one of the BEST florist in the area. The flowers and arrangements are fabulous and FRESH lasting longer than I have ever experianced with any other shop around including the "High end boutique" places. Alex never dissapoints! He is also one of the few "Green" Places I have found. They offer a bring back your vases campaign where they will gladly accept any of your unused vases for beautiful fresh flowers! Now how fantastic is this deal! And what a wonderful way to recycle and reuse these materials! I promise you I am NOT related...just a raving fan and loyal customer! Trust me once you give the a try you will be too!

My wife ordered a bouquet and a boutonniere and a couple of extra flowers to put in her hair for our wedding. The boutonniere was ok, he completely forgot about the flowers for her hair, but the bouquet was the real winner. When she ordered it he showed her a model so she could see the size, and said he would wrap in in satin. When she got there it was half the size of the model, and wrapped in tape. This is what $70 gets you these days I guess, especially if youre dumb enough to say you need it for a wedding. We would have been better off buying a bunch of flowers at Giant Eagle for $10, it would have looked exactly the same.
