Dont waste your time with this nonsense. As the website advised, I freshly laundered my items (3 bins worth) and neatly folded them. I brought all 3 bins into the store and waited a reasonable amount of time, maybe 15 minutes, for them to go thru my items. They took 3 pair of maternity pants and offered me $6.00. Their reason for not taking the other items.... condition (just about everything was practically brand new worn only a couple of times, some things maybe once! Then the other excuse was they have too much inventory on silimar items. HELLOOOOO.... thats b/c your prices are TOO HIGH for resale! Take a look around the store. Name brand items may command a higher price but seriously, size 2T Carters pajamas for $6.00? Used? Really, I can get them for less than that brand new in Kohls. So now they are done picking thru my freshly laundered and nealty folded items and what do they do? Toss them back into the bins like they were going into a laundry hamper. Not only will I NEVER try to bring my items there again, I wouldnt even consider shopping there. I saw someone describe their inventory as Ghetto - yeah, that pretty much sums it up. PS - the brands I brough there were Ralph Lauren, CK, Gap, H&M, Jones NY, DKNY, Nine West - NAME BRANDS!!!! Obviously too good for the customers they attract if they feel theyre unable to sell those items.

Closet Exchange used to be a good place to go to get some cash for clothes you no longer needed. You could also find some great bargains. Now, however, that is no longer the case. The last few times Ive gone in the cashier who is always there only pretended to go through my bags. How do I know? Because she was done looking through my items in about two minutes and everything was in the exact same position as when I brought the bags in. (It wasnt like I was there during a super busy time either--I always go in the afternoon during the week.) She claimed all of the items were too old, out of style, etc., etc. If she had actually looked through the bag at all she would have found True Religion jeans, brand new Affliction T-shirts, and other items that are hot right now. Maybe the store is overstocked and can no longer take in new items--thats fine, but the staff should just say that or stop the buying process until more inventory is needed instead of wasting customers time. Ive had my stuff looked at by the owner before and she seems really nice and she actually looks through everything, too. For the sake of her business, she should reevaluate her lazy employees before she loses more customers. I will not be returning to Closet Exchange and am spreading the word about how the place has gone downhill.

The Closet Exchange is horrible! I came in tonight with a HUGE bag of clothes that my husband & I wore like once, including an aeropastle sweatshirt that I NEVER wore. I swear the girl didnt even look through the whole bag. I think she saw a few items that she didnt like, looked at me, judged me and gave me some bull crap about how they dont take item that are over 18 months old. Are you freaking kidding me??? most of the clothes in there are over 18 months old, thats why people get rid of them, duh! Then when i told her to look through the bag again because there were shirts in there in perfect condition that are totally in style right now that my husband never wore and she gave me some more crap about how they are overstocked with mens clothes right now. Well then put out more than two mens racks and youd get rid of them faster. Seriously, dont even bother; its not worth the time or the money you waste in gas to take your clothes there. Youd be better off blessing somebody else by donating your clothes. Better yet, sell them on craigslist of in a yard sale...from what Ive read below, youd probably get more money doing that that what you would get from the Closet Exchange.

I figured I would try this place since its closer to me than Platos Closet, but what a disappointment. I took several brand new (still have tags attached) dresses from Arden B, shoes from Nine West, dress pants from The Limited, shirts from Forever 21 and some jewelry and all I got was $54. All of my items were in great condition, most of them had never been worn or worn maybe once. I thought they could have given more money. The stuff they rejected I thought they could have taken considering when I browsed their selection there were shoes with dirty footprints still in them, and shirts that were clearly run down (material thin and fuzzy)! This was a trial run with the store, I left my other nicer items at home and I will not sell them to Platos Closet.....After that experience I feel more comfortable giving to charity then giving to that store to make a profit!

What a waste of time. I showed up at opening time and no one was there. Another customer was waiting in the parking lot. When the proprietor came, I gave her clothes in a box, neatly folded as per website instructions. Clearly Im the only person who reads the website first. She told me "15 minutes," then proceeded to have an in-depth conversation with an obvious regular about the customers daughter and her college choice while giving my clothes a cursory look. When it was over, she took a couple of items and handed me back the rest saying, people dont buy those brands. Those brands were Banana Republic, Brooks Brothers, and Club Monaco. Not the highest end, but certainly not trash. Moral: if your wardrobe isnt ghetto fabulous, don;t take it to the Closet Exchange. On the other hand, if youre dressing as Foxxy Brown for Halloween, this is your place.

Not even worth wasting your time on. I just got back from this place. I go in with a bag of shirts, pants, and coats and the woman working the register clearly knows Im there to sell the clothes for cash. She then tells me to come back in an hour and a half. When I come back, her co-worker/assistant/whatever she is tells me that they have too much inventory and cant take any of my clothes. If they knew that, then why did they take the clothes to "look through" and say "come back in an hour and a half"? They had me sit around and wait all that time for nothing. There was just no point in coming here, and I wont come here again. Period.

I have only visited this store twice. Once to check it out and another time to sell some of my items. I took in 5 bags of clothes with name brands listed on their website...Banana Republic, Gap, Old Navy, etc. All in excellent condition. I also took an entire bag of shoes...mostly Nine West and in great condition. All of the clothes were still in fashion; however, they only wanted to accept 3 items and offered me $10 (for two pairs of shoes and a pair of pants!)...I can donate my items for that much. The concept is great, but I agree with others. There are gaps in inventory. I wont be going back...but hope your experience is better.
