I spent about 40 unproductive minutes in Road Runner Sports this afternoon. As others have noted, I also was ignored for a good 5-10 minutes of looking at shoes on the wall. When a sales person did approach me he noted he was helping another customer but a colleague would be with me soon. There was one other saleswoman helping customers try on shoes. She was helping two customers at the same time so the man who approached me asked another salesman if he was available to help. That man replied no, rather abruptly, he was busy. I noted that for the entire rest of my stay in the store he was "busy" putting price stickers on shoes. The saleswoman already involved with two other customers noticed me sitting there after another 10 minutes or so (already 20 minutes in the store, and no shoes). She seemed stretched thin already but offered to help. She measured my feet, then went in back and pulled out 4 pairs for me to try on in various brands. The full extent of her assistance was to bring me those 4 pairs, for which I was left on my own to try on. Although one pair actually fit great, I decided to take my business elsewhere. I proceeded to the New Balance store a short drive away at Bridgeport Village. There I was greeted immediately, asked about my exercise routines, put through a quick computerized foot analysis to find the best shoe for me, and walked out about 15 minutes later with a fabulous new pair of running shoes.

Good selection, however I have never had a great customer service experience. The first time I went to the store was to buy some new trail running shoes. I have a particular brand and sole type that I use. When I asked to see their selection I was told, pretty condescendingly, that "We do the carry those because they are bad for your feet and that company will probably go through a lawsuit". No alternatives were offered. I found the shoes on their website that day and then over to REI to purchase them. My wife went in a couple of months later for some new socks and insoles. She left without purchasing because she felt that she was being aggressively upsold and felt pressured. Great selection, bad customer service in my experience.

Ive been a Road Runner Sports customer since the 90s. Its a great company. The telephone sales team in San Diego is fantastic. Go to the store to get a catalog; take it home and browse. Call the 800 number, they will take excellent care of you! As to this store, sometimes I dont think ahead and Im forced to go to RRS to get something. If you are buying shoes, bring something to read. Even if the store is empty, you will wait at least 20 minutes. I find a visit to this store to be a painful, mind numbing experience.

If you like being ignored- this is the place to shop. Have been needing new running shoes for awhile. Arrived around 7:30 pm. Was told to put name on shoe dog list for fitting, did that and proceeded to wait. 1 or 2 people were being helped, overall pretty quiet- not very busy. No one was very friendly. Had 2 people at the cash register, about 3 other employees there. About 20 minutes after arriving no one had looked my way. I crossed my name off and left.

My wife and I have been runners for over a decade. Usually we purchase our shoes through the road runner catalog after getting sick of the attitude at Portland Running company. We finally made it over to the road runner store today to buy our next set of shoes. The store is really nice and they have an amazing selection of shoes for both men and women as well as a very large clothing selection. Well worth the couple extra minutes of a drive.

Great experience. The entire stuff was super friendly. Im surprised at the less than happy reviews by some people. I was greeted 10 sec. after entering the store. The foot test and eval took 15 mins. I was back in my truck 30 mins after entering the store with my new shoes and insoles. Im taking my wife over there tomorrow. My three mile walk tonight was a dream come true-no sore feet finally.

SO AMAZING!!! I got fitted for custom insoles and shoes and was completely impressed. The sales lady was totally cool and took her time to make sure I had the right shoes (and I tried on like 10 shoes) even though they were completely swamped. The whole process was just cool and so helpful. I am training for my first half marathon and was having foot pain... no longer....THANKS RRS

Three shoe selections and not one available in my size. But, the sales associate grabbed a Brooks stability shoe and informed me that they had those in my size. Another solution suggested was to buy the 3 shoes online and then return the two I didnt like after trying them on. This place is a joke and I will be canceling my VIP membership with them.

Sales person helped by pulling four pairs of shoe for us to try on- left us and never returned. We liked one of the selections but there was only one shoe in the box. Couldnt get any other associates attention. We were ignored for the next 20 minutes. We left the store, kinda pissed. Gonna cancel my VIP. You dont treat customers like this.

I was not impressed; I just wanted some shoe inserts, but the sale person tried to up-sell me to some kind of on-site molded expensive version, then left me for someone that was interested in more expensive products. The store is too fancy for what it is and as I say, I was not impressed.

Had such a great a great experience getting a shoe fitting from an employee named Adam he was friendly, and although Im sure he is paid by commission I didnt feel like he was pressuring me to buy anything extra. I really appreciated this, makes me want to come back!

I worked with Adam and could not be happier. I came in on my work lunch break and he was quick and super efficient. He went out of his way to make sure I was fitted and helped me pick out the best fit for shoes and socks. Great customer service, would recommend.

Went in to look at shoes and walked past at least 4 employees. Was the only person in the store and no one even attempted to acknowledge me. Found some nice Brooks shoes and scanned the barcode and ordered them off of Amazon for $30 cheaper.

Did the full Shoe Dog fitting and let them know about my instep pain. Got fitted for the right shoe and custom insole; was a big investment ($$) but TOTALLY worth it! Next walk with new shoes was pain free!

Use the website. This store has horrible customer service and lack knowledge about their products. If you need a store, go to NW Fit Right or Foot Traffic they are more informed and will treat you better.

Sometimes I have a better experience than others. It totally depends on the attention and attitude of the salesperson. They need to all give 5 star service, and they do not always do that.
