Tanya did a shark for me back in August. I am beyond happy with it! I have a few other older tattoos, but the detail on this one just jumps out so much better! She does a great job.. she is meticulous, perfectionist like, and very professional. The lines on my tat are perfect. Starting with the border, super straight.. and then the inside, it has a like "flow" to it... not just filled in randomly. The smallest details just stand out! Everyone that has an opinion on mine says how well it is done, and I make sure to say who did it and give her all the credit she deserves. You can tell she takes tattooing very serious. She is definitely "in the moment", concentrating... taking it almost personal. Im sure because she knows its a permanent commitment that in many ways reflects back to her. We are a walking advertisement for her! She has a private, very convenient location too. Very clean, and she takes great care to be safe and sterile.

I had a very personal piece designed for me and was looking for the right artist to perform the tattoo work. Im from Eugene, and did a lot of research on tattoo artists from around the state. After asking around and checking out her work, I decided on Tanya. I wish I had words other than the banal "amazing," "incredible," and "astounding" to describe Tanyas work, artistry and professionalism, but I unfortunately I dont. She simply cant be beat. Since my first piece, my husband and I have gone back to her for custom design and application of tattoos we wanted to commemorate our marriage, Ive had her add on to my original piece, and I have had her do a custom designed cover-up. Each time I am duly impressed. I have referred a friend to her, and she likewise was beyond happy with Tanyas work. Both my husband and I are looking at getting additional work done soon, and we will be going back to Tanya for sure

I chose Tanya as the artist for my first tattoo based on her gallery of work and her very thorough approach to both the design and planning and to after care. I was not disappointed. The session went faster than I expected, the pain was quite bearable - and she paid close attention to how I was doing the entire time, and the tattoo healed very cleanly and her instructions were easy to follow. Most important, it looks amazing, and everyone who has seen it has exclaimed that it is simply beautiful. Im very pleased and plan to return to Above the Pearl for my next pieces, and to refer her as well. As a bonus, her studio is completely private, so no strangers will be around while your work is being done. Note that the parking is sometimes very easy and sometimes a challenge, so be sure to read her detailed instructions and arrive a little early.

A Private User

This is the only Tattoo shop in the Pearl. Anything else is a place to get your skin scratched with a needle. Above the Pearl is about Art on your body. Tanya wields her machine like a paint brush. Appointment only custom work which is what smart people would want on their body permanently. Dont listen to "Popular Belief", thats like listening to Bankers, Lawyers, and Politicians i.e. SCUM. Do look at tanyas work and schedule an appointment, your body will thank you. I love the work she has done and to this day my bodyart gets compliments still. Professional, clean, private, and unmatched customer service. Maybe its just me but some over inked D-bag or a Bellydancer artist not a tough decision for who i want leaning over me with a tattoo machine.

Tanya is a fantastic tattoo artist! She is highly professional in all aspects down to the cleanliness of her tools. She makes you feel very comfortable throughout the entire experience from start to finish. She takes her time with the artwork and makes sure you are both on same page before actual needle work is done, which I appreciated. She is up front and honest on her limits of what she is comfortable with and not. I completely trusted her judgement and appreciated her honesty and am 100% satisfied with the overall experience she provided! I look forward to all my future work with Tanya and will recommend her to all my loved ones!

After years of researching Tatoo parlors around the greater Portland area, I decided to meet with Tanya of Above The Pearl Tattoo. I had a 30 year old faded, washed out tattoo I wanted to cover up. I liked her instantly and gave her a picture with quite a bit of detail to cover my old tat. She was excellent. Six sittings in her new place in Milwaukee and I couldnt be happier. She is an excellent artist and did above fantastic work. I would highly recommend her. The studio is well lit, private, air conditioned. You will not be sorry for choosing Tanya.

The best experience Ive had with getting a tattoo! Im not done yet with my tattoo, but in the first encounters with Tanya has been great. Besides the awesome art work I was so impressed with her aseptic technique! which is why I have healed so wonderfully. Im usually the one who has problems with anything skin wise and I have healed so great with no problems. Tanya is remarkable! My friends are already asking me for her! My tattoo design by Tanya is beautiful so many compliments!!

I would definitely get another tattoo from Tanya. She was professional, courteous and easily accessible. She took ownership of the art I commissioned and made it into a beautiful expression that I both love and am complimented daily. This is my second tattoo experience with Tanya.. a truly amazing artist. My latest tattoo is (Lotus Flower w/ Chinese Zodiac – Sign of Dragon). Not only do I truly love it, but I get tons of comments about it all the time :) Just last night I received 5 comments on it. How beautiful it is, the detail, the colors, and every person ends up saying it looks so 3D – it stands out dramatically. A few people didnt believe me when I said, “no it is a real tattoo”!

My husband passed away a year ago from esophageal cancer and I wanted to honor his memory. I decided to get a tattoo with the symbol of the cancer ribbon in periwinkle to represent esophageal cancer.
