We made the mistake of renting a wet saw from this store. The man who rented the saw to us was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. They rent saws in increments of 4, 8, or 24 hours. We had never tiled before and we werent sure how long it would take. Because the store was closed in the evening we would have to take it for either 4 or 24 hours. The clerk suggested we rent it for 4 hours and keep it for the 24 hours if we needed it. He said he couldnt refund our additional money if we brought it back in 4 hours but could add charges if we kept it for 24 hours. What a mistake! Our phone rang at 9 am the following morning (we had had the saw for 20 hours at that point). Tim, the store owner asked where the saw was. He insisted that we had rented the saw for 4 hours and had failed to return it. He was very angry, yelling that we couldnt just keep it without calling. My husband reiterated that we thought it was understood that we were probably keeping it more than 4 hours and that he had no right to wake us on a Sunday morning to yell about the saw. After some nasty remarks about people who lounge around in bed all morning he hung up. When we arrived at the store it was much worse. He called me a stupid b*tch for not knowing that I needed to call. He asked me if I needed him to call me to remind me to wipe my *ss too. That was only the half of it! It went on for close to 15 minutes. I have never been more offended in a place of business in my life. My husband and I make it a priority to shop local businesses whenever possible. We have a Home Depot and a Lowes within walking distance of our house. I guess thats where well shop from this point onward.

I have shopped at Burnt Hills Hardware for 7 years until now. I bought all of my exterior paint from them and they were always my first choice for the small items I needed quick. I just rented a power overseeder from Burnt Hills Hardware Equipment Rentals and had some trouble with the application rate on the machine. Instead of applying the seed at the correct rate, the machine dumped a 10 pound bag of seed in 1/3 the rime. I checked the hopper and couldnt believe it was gone in six 70 passes. I made adjustments to application rate and continued since it was late in the day and I was told Burnt Hills Hardwares Rental shop closed at 4:00 PM. The adjusted rate worked fine, but it took a bag to discover the problem. I had to purchase an additional bag of seed. When I returned the machine (early)and asked if they could credit me $10 for the mis-calibrated machine and help cover the cost of the additional seed that was wasted (which was $35, purchased locally). Instead of having a civilized conversation, the employee at the rental center basically told me I was the problem. I told him I preferred to shop locally at small business and that I dont like giving business to the big box stores, his response was "go ahead to the big box store". I told him I would not likely shop at the store again because of his attitude and he said "not a problem" Their customer service was very poor today and I will not be back. I suggest Casale Rentall for all of your equipment rentals, at least they dont blame you for faulty/mis-calibrated equipment.

I agree with most on here, to a point. Some of the folks in this store really do try, its just this guy Tim who has some sort of seperation anxiety about the power tools. I almost appreciate this guys rudeness, he saved me some money. I rented a saw from them, of course in Tims mind he was doing me a big favor by even letting me touch this thing. I asked about a rototiller at the time, asked about the price for 4 hours compared to a full day. After he told me the prices I said I was sure I could get everything I need to get done within four hours anyway, Id just have to make sure I worked quickly. This guy didnt like that at all; after he shoke his head at me in disgust he stated "thats not what I want to hear, thats how the equipment gets broken".....Ill tell you what Tim, I didnt break your equipment, I didnt rent it at all, and Ive been more than happy to give the big shops my business. If youre so worried about renters damaging the equipment, maybe you should stop renting the equipment. Thats the game, you make the original purchase....then make 30 times that by renting it to people. Seeing how this is equipment people dont own themselves usually, there may be a learning curve, and that may result in some tough use on the machines. Some of that rental money may have to go into maintaining the machine rather than directly into your pocket.....again, if you cant handle that, get out of the business.

Think twice before purchasing any big equipment, the only service you will get is when you sign the paperwork to buy it! I can justify paying a premium to buy good equipment for my business such as my Simplicity 1732 snowblower because I expect I will also receive quality service and good people who will back that equipment up. This is not the case with Burnt Hills Hardware. Its the first snowfall of the season and I find out one of the cables has rusted. Not only will Burnt Hills Hardware not put the cable on without an appointment (a five minute job), they wont let me borrow a wrench to do it myself. I am forced to drive all the way home to get my tools and do it myself so I can get back to work. Next time I buy a machine, you better believe I will look to a dealer who is willing to stand behind their machines and take that extra step when I am in a pinch.

In the past, I have always found Burnt Hills Hardware to be friendly and a great place to shop. However, dealing with the power equipment rental was terrible! I called to rent a mini excavator, and before I could ask about details like transport weight or trailer availability (which were going to be my first 2 questions), the man on the phone told me: "You obviously have no idea what you are doing" because of the weight and trailer requirements, etc. Then he went on to berate me, at which point I cut him off to say that I would take my business elsewhere, and he hung up on me. I will never consider renting power equipment there again!

Some guy named Tim is the most rude employee I have ever come across. A couple questions about finding a part turned into him letting me know after we found the part (very inexpensive) 5 minute process.. He let me know that the amount of time he put into looking.the item up wasnt worth it because of the price. I thought customers come first just because someone doesnt need something expensive everytime they go in a store doesnt mean the eventually wont purchase something expensive.. not that it should matter customers should come first no matter what. Horrible employee I would have let him go with that attitude from my business.
