Vickys hair salon is the last place you should go to if you have 35 dollars to spare. Vickys proud lack of professional training coupled with her attempt at multi-tasking are very likely to result in a hair disaster or, if you are lucky, in getting an invisible trim. She spends half of her time talking about her greatness (how many radio shows she has, how great her store is, how much better a hairdresser than her Ann Arbor peers etc etc), a quarter of her time talking to visitors and store browsers. The rest she divides between cutting your hair and prying into your life passing one judgmental comment after another as if she were some all-knowing Kerrytown guru. Toward the end of your time there, you just want to run for your life, with or without a decent hair cut. Avoid this one, folks.

Although this was probably not the trendiest haircut Ive ever received, it WAS one of the more entertaining (and not at all bad looking!). Vicki is entwined in downtown Ann Arbor culture and an amazing source of information. Experiencing Vicki is an Ann Arbor must! Go browse her eclectic assortment of art and books, go for a haircut, or just go and chat her up. Shes full of interesting advice and recommended an optometrist to me-- her suggestion was dead right and indirectly responsible for my acceptance to optometry school. I am incredibly grateful for the very vivacious Vicki!

Had such a wonderful experience here today! The staff assisted me in finding the perfect wedding gift. Not only was it beautifully gift wrapped but they went above and beyond bubble wrapping it as it is traveling with me to the east coast. The dogs in the store are so sweet and the overall energy of the place is great. I know theyll do fantastically in the old dogma store location on 4th Ave.
