Stay away from this place, go to Lappyfix. A professional ripoff. I had a virus which locked everything out, XP would boot but no other app would run including no system services and apps would run. I called Lowell Campus Computers, asked him if he could fix the virus, was told to come on down, would cost $49.00. I brought in my Toshiba Laptop showed him the problem, not able to start any software including system software. Left the laptop with him, got a call from him a couple of hours later, the system was totally messed up, the registry was all garbage and the only thing that could be done was to format the drive and put in a new OS, the cost a neat $98.00. This is a four year old laptop, limited memory and hard disk, but a lot of apps and data which I needed to recover, a new fully loaded laptop would have cost about $ 450.00. He charged me $25.00 for putting it on the bench which he would credit if I got him to put in the new OS. Paid the guy and took my laptop and went down to Lappyfix in downtown Chelmsford. He told me to drop off the laptop would look at the problem and give me a free estimate. The next morning I got a call from Lappyfix, my laptop was ready to go home and he said the problem to fix wasnt anything serious, did not charge me for it. I called up this guy at Lowell Campus Computers and again asked him what he thought the problem was, now he tells me he tried to run his software on my laptop and could not and hence it was totally messed up and the OS needed to be replaced, great, I had already told him that I could not do a thing on my laptop and that is all he tried and charged me a bench fee for not able to run his software which I had already told him was the problem. If I had followed his advice, not only would I have out of $98.00 but would have lost all my apps and importantly all the data on the system. When I told him I would write about the episode on every possible site that I could he quickly refunded the $25.00. This guy is a total ripoff, he may be an expert on something, but when it comes to software and viruses he has not the faintest idea of what needs to be done. I would never again go near his outfit nor would I recommend it to anyone. Lappyfix is a bit more expensive, but he gives you a free estimate of what the problem is and fixes it. Go there, the only thing going for this guy he has most of UMass Lowell Campus to himself.

I have a custom computer that i built myself, and when I had a problem with it I decided to take it to this store because they only charge $25 for a diagnostic test to find out whats wrong. To their credit they did find out what hardware component was not working properly, however, I found out when rebuilding my computer that they had broken my cpu in the process - which is pretty difficult to do if you are careful! And it cost me another $70 to replace my cpu! Besides the broken cpu I dont think that they are very professional. They didnt handle my computer parts (which can be fragile) very carefully when I watched them put some of my parts back together, and they dont have the best business sense. I went in there a couple of other times asking if they sold certain items and they couldnt give me straight answers, even when I asked if they could order something for me! What kind of business gives you uncertain answers when you ask them to order materials that they use anyway! I ended up going to another store to get the items that I needed. So if you want a cheap diagnostic you can take your computer here but beware because they might break more than they fix - I know Ill pay the extra money next time by taking my computer to a place more professional.

Life Savers I am a physician who teaches and works in a wide variety of places and just before Christmas my home (and main) computer system essentially collapsed. Though I actually DID back up my information, being without a computer was a disaster. I decided I wanted more personal help than you get at a big box store and I did a non-internet thing--I took my old yellow pagers and looked for which company had been around for a long time (figuring that in this economy that lots of folks would be offering computer services). I found Lowell Campus Computers and discovered they were around the corner from me. I brought in my computer and over just a few days it was resuscitated (as my new "satellite" computer and a got a whole new system along with back up systems and a wireless set-up). Even with the hourly cost of the technician, it was no more than all the online systems I had looked into and MUCH better, user friendly and minus all the "bloatware" (a new word I LOVE) that most commercial systems have. The folks at LCC get back to me quickly, did NOT try to sell me more than I needed and are just wonderful to deal with. They are my "go to" folks and who I recommend to everyone. Mark: Dracut Ma

Brought 2 laptops, both were broken. IBM Thinkpad: Screen was broken, but computer worked fine otherwise. I had it on an external monitor but the monitor buld blew so I took it here. He called to say it needed a new motherboard. Hmm. I wasnt going to pay for that and I figured that it must have been bad timing that it broke too so I told him not to fix it. Dell Latitude: Keyboard was broken. He fixed this. I picked them both up and he casually said I just needed a wireless card and I was all set. Since I hadnt used the Dell in years, I figured it was only ethernet enabled - couldnt really remember - and I left. Later I went to use it and my card was missing! I had no proof he took it and I had previously lent the computer to a friend so I wasnt sure it was in there to begin with. Well, months later I decided to give away the IBM Thinkpad and when I handed it to the girl, it was MISSING the WIRELESS card! This gives me enough info to say this guy is a thief. And now I wonder if he took the perfectly GOOD motherboard from my thinkpad and replaced it with a bad one. I am sickened by this type of behavior. I thought I was giving a local business some help.

Best Service; Wonderful Professionals When my computer needed to be upgraded, I dreaded having to get a new one, especially with all the programs, passwords, etc. Nathan and Julien made it seem like this was no big deal-and they were right. My assistant and I now have 2 screens(their idea and what a great idea it was); the new computer is so much better, and I am one very happy camper. Nathan has come back to fine tune various programs,,,he is a gem. Lowell campus Computer has a name that represents their service!! Judy Cooper, tewsbury ma
