I was overjoyed to discover Paradise Fabrics! The prices are excellent and the selection of fabrics is so diverse that it is almost overwhelming. I spent an hour or more just browsing and still had questions about dye methods of the hand-dyed fabrics that were expertly answered by the stores owner. The selection of African Batik prints is vast and the pricing is probably lower than fair. The Wax prints come in 6 yard segments or other print methods come on bolts. There are the most gorgeous true Indigo died Senegalese prints that Ive come across. If youre looking for Classic Chinese prints, Senegalese prints or Central African Batiks, this is your place. If youre looking for Cotton, Silk or blend Sari fabrics, this is your place. If youre looking for deeply saturated colors of died linen fabric, this is your place! If you want gauze for curtains or lightweight summer-wear, this is your place! If you want African Mudcloth for traditional festival garb, go here. At first, I didnt see any vinyl for re-upholstering my outdoor chairs but when I asked for vinyl the owner took me straight to a nice selection of backed vinyl. There was nothing we needed that we couldnt find for the best prices in the Metro area. Its super easy to get there from Virginia, Maryland or DC. Just go out Suitland Parkway to Silver Hill Rd. Its about a mile from Suitland near the large NOAA & Federal Complex in a small strip mall. Super easy to get off Suitland Parkway and right back on. If you go, give yourself plenty of time to look around!!

Not a very positive experience. The store was scorching and the older male employee was rude. When I stated the store was hot, the manager told me that it was not hot in the place, it was hot outside. The manager proceeded to badger me to come feel the heat outside and compare it to what I felt inside. Prior to stating the obvious about the heat, a customer whom he was checking out was drenched with sweat and made the statement, "Its HOT in here, I dont know how he can stand it." Also, during my fabric browsing, an employee came to work and told me that she almost "died" yesterday from the heat and that the AC was broken. The manager continued to press me to feel outside and compare it to inside the store. He then began to tell me that he was a "healer" and he healed a woman with a bleeding disorder for 11 years in a New York Mental Hospital. He began to ask me about my credentials (what kind of degrees I had) etc....The relevance of his questioning, to the heat in the store, is beyond me. I told him his attitude towards me was bad, he was making me uncomfortable, and that I was ready to leave and not buy a thing. He finally stated the obvious, "The AC is broken" and said he will not, "ever speak to me again". It was a totally bizarre experience that I do not welcome the next time. Disappointing because there are such great reviews here and I was hoping for a better experience. Oh well!

My friend and I were rudely asked to leave! I had just finished buying fabric when my friend came. She wanted me to help her pick out some fabric for a skirt. She is new to sewing so I was explaining the difference in fabrics and how to pick one good for her project. After maybe 15 minutes of looking around and talking about what fabric to get, the older male who is usually always there, tells us "It is store policy that we had to buy something or leave so other people wont think they had customers". First of all, that excuse is utterly ridiculous, especially seeing as though I had just bought something. Secondly, we were not being loud, rude, or acting in any way that would prompt him to say anything. This same guy has been rude to me and another customer before, but I overlooked it because this is the closest fabric store to my house. This time was the last straw. I will NEVER shop there again! If you dont like a mess of a place and poor customer service I suggest you dont ether. Save yourself a headache and go to G Street Fabric or anywhere other than here.

I came here for the first time yesterday and it was overall a good experience. I walked in and had a huge smile on my face. It is fabric heaven! I wish they accepted Discover credit because my other cards were at home and I only had $40 cash. Needless to say, I spent all of it. I was there for less than 20 minutes and had to stop browsing after a few rows of fabric because I had reached my budget pretty quickly with only 3 fabric selections. The prices for what I saw averaged $10 a yard, but I was able to find a nice fabric with black mirror frames on white background for $6/yard. I will definitely be going back on payday.

In a tiny strip mall in a run-down area is this amazing store. Fabric from all over the world, fun prints, and MUCH LESS EXPENSIVE than what youll see at a big box store. Some stores have a selection of mainly quilting fabrics, but this store is for the sewer. I was so pleasantly surprised! Only downsides: not really kid friendly (fabric piled high all over) and not very many notions. I still had to go to the *other* store to get buttons. But the fabric was so cheap that I didnt care!

It was my first time here and I am in love with this store! I picked out 4 different fabrics, each 4.99-5.99 a yard, and they are beautiful. They would easily cost $10-20 a yard elsewhere. The selection is huge, and if youre looking for lacy, decorative fabrics for fancy dresses, you wont be sorry. The lady was very nice and helpful too. The only downside is that they only sell by the whole yard, so no half or quarter yards.

I love fabric! Paradise lives up to its name. It has moved up to my number one place to purchase fabric. I was a die hard G Streeter, but Paradise moved them down on my list. The service is impeccable, the owner is knowledgeable and friendly. This place is a keeper! The selection is more than anyone could ask for and the prices are spectacular..

Tons and tons of choices!!! They have sooooooo much to choose from. And the prices are very reasonable. The store is huge but very cramped. You will have to pick your way through the piles of fabric...but its worth it when you find your treasure. :-)
