This review is unfortunate. Sure our sales experience was good when we bought our kitchen table - the staff was friendly and helpful. Our dining set and counter stools were delivered a little later than expected, but not a big issue. I noticed that some of the "nail holes" used to achieve a distressed look didnt appear as they should. Typically these holes are darker or same color as the finish since the stain colors them. Some of the holes on our table were lighter - like the holes were made after the table was finished. I didnt like this but figured thats how they finish their tables, which is unfortunate. Weve had this table less than one year and it has a 1 year warranty. We eat one meal a day on it and its only cleaned with a damp cloth - no chemicals. Weve been careful with it - its our first "nice", new dining set. We started to notice the finish becoming lighter in some spots and some crackling. Then we saw that the finish was wearing off. I contacted the store and the individual i spoke to said he was the store manager. He had me send pictures, and then he sent a technician to take pictures. I was told at first that a new table top would be fabricated and our top would be replaced. I was very pleased with the customer care and was planning on returning very soon to start buying furniture for other rooms in our home. I was then told they needed more pictures and finally the resolution: I was told that they thought how we were cleaning our table (with a damp cloth as specified by the care instuctions) was causing it since water would cause that kind of damage to the finish. They said that I could buy a NEW table and theyd take mine to analyze. If they conculded that the table was defective, theyd reimburse me. So even if I had the extra money lying around to purchase a brand new table, I would bet that they would find a way no matter what to blame us for the finish and not reimburse us. So theyd then make double the money and wed have paid double for 1 table. And theyd probably make triple the money off of it because theyd likely resell the table they took back. So they do not honor their warranty and they have no way of deciphering whether something does or does not fall under warranty without forcing the customer to buy a new one. What kind of warranty is that? They should be honest with their customers and say that they dont back their furniture with any guarantee or warrantee so at least customers know they really get nothing. If that table cant withstand 1 meal a day of use and cleaning with a damp cloth, its not suitable for use as a dining table and Im not paying for another one. Were stuck with this garbage and Bassett is refusing to replace it under the warranty. They dont care for their customers and they dont care to lose repeat business. The corporate office said our warranty is with the store we bought it from, and they seem to not be concerned that this store has deplorable customer service. I cant in good conscience buy any other furniture from them - I have no confidence that it will hold up or that they will honor a warranty if something should go wrong. Im just grateful I found out how they planned to not resolve the issue BEFORE I bought anything else from them.

Horrible customer service, stay away from this store. Originally, I was very impressed with the bed and dresser in the store and purchased the pieces because the construction was better than what I have seen in the area. We waited and and finally got confirmation that the furniture had arrived (more than likely from another country). Upon delivery I noticed that the dresser was all black and the bed was distressed black with bright red, orange and raw wood undertones. The delivery guys could not understand English but visually understood my complaint. Upon calling the store manager I was told that all of the pieces are made by hand and vary sometimes. I sent him the pictures that were undeniable. He came out to my house and agreed that there is clearly a difference between the two pieces then it was decided to order another dresser to match the bed. One arrived 3 weeks later that did not match at all. I refused the piece after visually inspecting on the back of the truck. Another was ordered but what I received was the same piece but with unprofessional distressing. They roughly sanded 3 corners, added hideous red and orange paint drippings in various spots. I was told that it was "custom distressed". The manager confessed that a guy in the storage facility did the work but clearly it was amateur. After paying a premium for "high end furniture" I final got in touch with the regional manager who of course had zero desire to deal with the issue. He would not come out to inspect the pieces. His email could not accept photos and he answered the phone once out of my 21 attempts to communicate with him. 7 weeks later I got him on the phone when another replacement piece was delivered wrong again. There was no attempt to find middle ground. I told him that I would only accept the piece if they agreed to return a portion of my original purchase and his reply was "we wasted so much of the profit margin in the multiple deliveries that there was nothing left to refund". I gave up finally, there is only so much time and energy you can dedicate to such small minded people. Thank you for the experience you something undesirable that I stepped in once- heads. Please do not purchase from this store.

My wife and I went into this location today. A sales person, I think Michael, (bald, African American, possibly homosexual) asked to help us with finding a sofa sectional. I showed him a paper with a picture of the room we wanted it in. When he asked how much i was looking to invest, i told him no more then $2,000. He then laughed and gave me the paper back and said,"Not here!" and walked away. Stunned i stood there for a second and then started to walk away. My wife still wanted to see the fabrics to choose from and when she asked he just laughed again and continued walking. This arrogant F*** should learn some etiquette in doing sales. There is a kinder way to simply state that the couch was not in our price range. I wish i could say I was surprised but coming from the source, I am not. Needless to say, no one should give them a dime. If their staff is this unprofessional they do not deserve anyones hard earned cash especially in this economy. If I wasnt raised with respect I would have layed the motherf***** out right there in the store.

I dont understand what the other reviews are talking about. My experience with Bassett Furniture in Green Brook, NJ, has been excellent. Ive bought from them a few times. A beautiful entryway table, made-to-order bar stools for my kitchen, a decorative end table for my living room, and I recently ordered a tall dresser for my bedroom. The quality of Bassetts furniture it top notch (thus, its not cheap), and I have found the customer service is excellent. I keep going back - every time I realize i need something for my new house. Highly recommended if you want quality high end furniture.
