I shop the Paducah Ky. location fairly regularly and after today I swear I will never set foot in that store again!!! I’ve been in that store once a week for the last 4 weeks and each time have walked out disgusted swearing I would never go back. But today, was the straw that broke the camel’s back… The staff is very rude!!! They keep the ladies bathroom locked (who does that anymore?) and when I inquired to the management as to why… My response was “ we have to lock it because people go in and damage it”… LOL That was a total joke. No one could have prepared me for what I saw… Stools needed to be flushed, paper towels in the floor, water all over the sinks and floor… It was just NASTY!!! It actually requires someone to personally CLEAN it!!! I am in management and understand how people are, but this is just neglect. And apparently management didn’t want to require it’s employees to take turns taking care of the property… Now , that’s only one thing… When I ask for the key, the young man acted like it was a chore to get the key from the management… He really had a negative attitude… I wish that had been the only time that had happened, unfortunately I did the same thing last week and the week before – just to see if it was a once or twice thing… And, as I suspected, it didn’t change over the weeks… Since I have been looking for a particular book, I browsed your computer section each time I went into the store… I actually didn’t look in other areas since I didn’t find what I needed in the computer section…(but suspect the whole store is similar to the computer section) I did however have a conversation with a man standing in the computer section as we browsed the outdated books… (we both chuckled) There are books that are sooooo outdated that it would surprise me if “anyone” would purchase them… One in particular is Macromedia 8… LOL I had that in my library 10 years ago!!! There are “NO” up to date computer books in that store!!! (another reason I will not be back) I have more up to date computer books in my personal library than on your shelves… This actually boils down to poor management… When you resolve the management issue, the others will come into line. I would expect that your store is losing money/customers… People will continue to think Barnes and Noble is top rated - because they are. They (Barnes and Noble) employee good people that don’t consider their job just a job… If there is ever a next time that I re-enter the store Ill video it and upload to youtube for proof!!!

I purchase periodicals (magazines) on occasion. Those publications that pertain to my interest, but buying a subscription is not justified. Mainly when they have a particular article(s) in one issue, that I cant get anywhere else. Books-A-Million is the only store with a full stock of relatively low circulation magazines, within 60 miles of Paducah. Case in point; if you want an issue of one of these magazines, Books-A-Million is the only store available locally. All my other purchases of books are done with Amazon. Usually, I purchase a couple of these magazines a year. Which requires a trip to Books-A-Million. I can predict the sales drill before I enter the door. Mind you, this is for a less than $10 purchase. It should be a simple task. But no. First Im hit up for giving to whatever charity theyre collecting for. Then the hard sell for the discount card. Finally they go through a menu on their screen at the register, which starts with asking you your phone number, and proceeds into more personal identity information. This is all for one magazine. The clerks all look like art school drop-outs, and have the personality of robots. I generally end up going off on them as I leave the store. And they stare, like they cant figure out why. Its like financing a car, just to buy a magazine. Uncalled for. and unnecessary.

This has to be the most disorganized book store Ive ever been in. Books in the floor, all over the store. And if you go to an specific area to look for a particular book, good luck! the books are scattered throughout the section. It has been this way since last October, and I have complained three times and they give me the "Were restocking".....yeah, takes a year!. And now they have taken out the train table the kids loved. If you can go somewhere else, do so. The Barnes and Noble in Cape is excellent!!!! Books in order, clean, and very, very friendly staff.

I wish there was a way to give this store zero stars. The store is beyond poorly maintained. Books are not placed on the shelf in any semblance of alphabetical order. Even items that are stacked and faced out are out of whack. This is not a product of the busy Christmas season, but it like this year round. The manager of the store obviously doesnt care about customer service or making money.

Pricier than Amazon, but so nice to have a place that you can actually handle a real book! Nice coffee shop with indoor & outdoor seating. Open later than other stores, so you can sit down & enjoy a decaf. latte before heading home after shopping!

One of my favorite places in Paducah. Staff is helpful and friendly. The restrooms do need to be cleaned more though.
