I havent been this disappointed with a retail experience in a very long time. We purchased a simple mattress and steel twin bed frame for our 4 year olds first "real" bed. The frame in the store was a dark brown color. The frame that was delivered was metallic silver. When I saw it and said to the delivery people that it was the wrong color, I was told that this was the only color they carried and that it must have been the lighting in the store that made it look brown. So, I went to the store. There was the brown steel bed frame, still on display. The store employee came over and I explained my situation. He said "yeah I just get whatever color they send me, sometimes brown, sometimes silver" and then told me I was welcome to bring in the silver one and switch it out but that the floor model was the only brown one they had. He then told me that he had delivered 30 others and no one had minded the color. I was shocked. I said "you understand that I ordered one color and you delivered a completely different color, right? And you want me to bring it back myself for a floor model?" He then said they could deliver it but it would be next week. After going home and thinking about it I called them and asked if the floor model would be discounted, and was told it would not be, so I told them I would like a refund, and would bring the frame back myself. The person I spoke to this time told me that the brown frame was the "old model" (please note this is the third different explanation I had been given by this time for the change in color, including being told the color I first saw didnt exist). By the time3 I got back to the store I was pretty upset. I walked in and the original employee was at the desk. He said "so you want a refund?" and I said yes. I then explained how getting 3 different explanations and a refusal to discount the floor model was a terrible way to do business, not to mention being told that 30 other people would not have minded, implying I was the one with the problem. He denied saying it, unbelievably. Then said that wasnt what he meant. Another employee (maybe a manager?) then came over and we went out to my car to get the frame. On the way to the car I again stated how upset I was and he said "well you know, 99 people out of 100 wouldnt have minded". Incredible. I said "do you understand that by saying that youre telling me Im wrong about this being a problem, because no one else would have cared, instead of just taking responsibility for sending me a silver piece of furniture instead of the brown one that I ordered? Thats a terrible thing to say to a customer." He clearly didnt get it and just kept telling me how 99 people out of 100 wouldnt have cared about this. Thanks, dude. I now understand that I have caused you to have to deal with an unhappy customer and youre annoyed that I cared about your poor business practices. The rest of the transaction went quickly, I was refunded my money, and I left. I shopped at Furniture 1st because it was local and had good prices, but i regret it, and will not be going back to buy any of the other furniture we need. If you shop here, be sure you get what you actually ordered. I only gave one star because Google forced me to.

We have had our futon from Furniture First for around three years. Since that time, weve had to replace parts on the futon because the wood used in manufacturing is of very low quality. The first time, it was less of a problem because we were under warranty and they gave us the part to fix it (but never offered to come and fix it themselves). A few months ago, the bottom frame support fractured in several places. The break is not the result of too much weight or misuse; this is clearly a manufacturing break as the break lines are clean and make a distinct pattern. We went to Furniture First to explain the problem, assuming they would help us fix it given it was due to poor quality. First, they sent us the wrong piece, which they charged us shipping for because we were no longer under warranty. After it turned out to not be what we needed, we took it back hoping to get the correct part (and even with the expectation of having to pay shipping once again). However, they told us that to fix what was broken would essentially be the price of a new futon, and they wouldnt do anything to help with the cost because it wasnt under warranty anymore. I am all for paying for breakage caused by misuse, but its terrible that Furniture First refused to admit that the product they sold us was less than stellar and did not offer to resolve the issue for a fair price. If you are looking for a company that will help you when they are at fault, I suggest you try a different Bloomington business.

Just had a terrible experience at this store and it makes me wonder why they’re going out of business if their supposedly so good. We went into the store today to look for a night stand to match a set we had recently purchased there, the salesman said the no longer had any left and we decided to browse, we found something we liked for $99 and we would have purchased the item had not another guy said, Oh, we have the dresser and nightstand in our warehouse. We asked for the dimensions so we could go to our apartment to measure as to whether or not this would fit. The salesman tried to get us to purchase and said he would refund our money if it didn’t fit, we decided to go home and measure, we gave them a call a little later on and wanted to purchase the two items and were quoted a price(not the 70% off as advertised) we were told to come to the store at 5:00 to pick up the furniture. Upon arrival we were fed some story that the furniture was broken and out for repair, this is after being told it was still in a box in the warehouse. They wanted us to order it and it would take up to a month to arrive and of course pay up front, this business is a scam, buyer beware.

I was looking for a new mattress and did some shopping around. Mattress 1st had the best selection of all the stores I had been to in Bloomington. Their service staff was very nice and helpful, without being pushy about buying a mattress that was out of my price range or buying a mattress that was more expensive rather than less expensive. They also have a price match guarantee for any store in Indiana that is hassle-free. Overall, this is a great place with friendly, knowledgeable staff and I would definitely go back and recommend it to others looking for quality mattresses and brands at a good price.

These guys are absolutely phenomenal!! I had purchased a mattress that ended up being way too soft for my back, so I went back to look for another. They were extremely helpful and even offered to discount the price of my new mattress since the other hadnt worked out for me. Their delivery crew is timely, courteous, and helpful in moving everything in. The dining set I bought is amazing and ties our kitchen together perfectly. I would absolutely recommend this business to anyone looking to buy furniture. Very honest business with A+ customer service and great products. :)
