I"ve made many purchases here over the years and always get great service. This past weekend I stopped in to sign up for conceal carry class, and shopped for a new weapon. Nothing in stock I liked so I went to Gander Mtn to look around. Big mistake. Hard to get service due to tons of people window drooling at the gun counter. I found a Springfield xd mod 2 on sale for a great price so I bought it, and had it shipped to Outdoorsman to be processed. (standard for Illinois resident buying in Wi.) The kid at Gander was nice, but he incorrectly told me the gun did not come in any other finishes. The guys at Outdoorsman pointed out that they charged me sales tax in Wi, and after calling I have to drive back up to Gander to get that refunded. Then the guys at Outdoorsman told me about a Springfield promotion that all I have to do is get online and enter my purchase info and I get a couple free magazines, a range bag, and some other goodies. Nobody at Gander even bothered to tell me about this. Long story short, price isnt the only factor. Im sticking with Outdoorsman. At Gander I ended up with a nice gun but wouldve gotten another finish had I known it was available. I would never have known about $125 in free gear that came with my purchase because of Gander. I have to drive back to Gander to get refunded taxes I shouldnt have been charged. THANKS OUTDOORSMAN FOR CATCHING ALL GANDERS MISTAKES!!!!

This place is simply amazing, while it has a quiet hometown feel it also stocks tons of fishing and hunting supplies. The staff there are very smart, courteous and so helpful. They take the time to find out what you really need rather then just pushing stuff at you taking your money and shoving you out the door like a lot of other shops. They have a really nice modern indoor firing range that’s the best in the area as well as a baseball and softball batting cage, you can shoot archery indoors our outside and the archery pro shop has what you need and works on all makes and models of bows, they have several excellent firearms instructors and an onsite gunsmith. They do professional firearms appraisals, buy sell and trade both new and used guns of all kinds, They even have hunting safety classes. This place gets a thumbs up even if your only coming in to look at all the wildlife mounts (be careful the bear looks so real it just might reach out and grab ya), the owners are super friendly and the prices are right, so don’t miss out. With there many many years of experience and willingness to help, they will make you a better sportsman

Took a concealed carry course with another company and went to the Outdoorsman to qualify. Our instructor called ahead to be sure it would be ok and all was well. We all show up at noon and they decline our business. All of the lanes were open, and they said we could not use the range to qualify with our certified instructor. We could shoot for practice, but we couldnt use it to qualify! What sense does that make?! None. The blowhard fat gunsmith who was cashiering just turned us away. Needless to say, he lost 20 peoples business that day. I will never return! I also had a previous bad experience with a gun purchase. They do not back up what they sell! The white dots came out of my rear sights a week after my purchase. The gunsmith took the time to argue with me for 15 minutes about how he doesnt work for free and instructed me to send it into Springfield, when he could have just took it in the back and fixed it in under 5 minutes. It was 2 dabs of modeling paint! I dont think its working for free if I just bought the gun from them! Go to First Class right down the road!!!!! They offered to fix it and I didnt even buy it from them!

These people are fantastic! I went there with some friends from Europe. Ed took the time and gave us all the necessary instruction on how to handle and shoot a variety of handguns. Then we got a chance to shoot away on the range. My friends have not stopped talking about it since! What impressed me most though was everybody was very friendly and helpful - and they take safety so seriously. My friends definitely came away with a much more positive view on gun ownership in the USA.

Great place with great people. I tried buying a brand new 1911 from Shooters in Racine, WI and they told me they wouldnt order it for me. I went down to The Outdoorsman and they helped me out. The owner lives in WI and is an FFL themselves so I went to their house to pick up the pistol. I enjoy the trip everytime I go eventhough they are 45mins from my house and Shooters is less than five mins from my house.

I was looking for an affordable, friendly, local range when I received my first handgun. Boy, did I find it! Beautiful shop with a nice range tucked in behiend it all. Staff is very nice and helpful, Rental prices are very cheap and very fair, Ammo and targets are affordable and its a very relaxed atmosphere to come lay down a few rounds. Im hoping to make this place my regular range!

Went to the gun range last night, it was so smokey I had a hard time breathing. The ventilation system must not have been working right. Been there many times in the past years but last night was horrible, Ive been coughing ever since last night.

great people i went in there to look around for a 1911 and talked to the older man for like an hour and didnt even buy anything but went back many time and picked up a few pistols from him great price on the range too

No selection for any bows but compound. Had a selection of long and recurve but refused to sell them. Also told me they would help me hands on but once I got there they aggressivly pushed Matthews 450$ bows on me.

Great indoor range. Reasonably prices lane fees. Great rental guns. One set fee & you can try them all! Try the 50 Cal Desert Eagle. Be careful, shells tend to eject straight back in your face....

The people are quite nice there. Cheap prices especially for the shooting range. It is family owned store so it has a very relaxed atmosphere and all the workers are really great.

Not the worlds cleanest store and range, but for $15/hour for two people to shoot (one lane), you certainly cant beat the price!
