As EPs historian, I am taking a second to Review our Walgreens past 50 memorable years located on the NW corner of North & Harlem. It began with the demolition of Hayess Supper club to make way for a modern 16 story building. Local zoning consideration halted the project in mid stream, after only the underground parking lot and the first floor base of the structure had been completed. Having no choice after loosing borrowed money with no achievable goal in site, the projects financial lender, Midwest Bank of Delaware, took receivership of the property and moved in. Walgreens also eying that perfect location, began as the first & only renters of the empty buildings other half until 2014 when new owners set plans into motion which included demolishing & building two separate portions on lots footprint. Since the 1970s there had always been a rumor that Walgreens wanted to expand by taking over ownership from bank, move them out, and at first, install a "Wags" restaurant & Lunch counter. Later reasoning for expansion included the Drug store chains 1st Pharmacy "Drive thru" sometime during the 1980s. Storied end to this long time relationship between renter & owner surprised everyone when prized property finally became available during late 2000s after the Bank was declared insolvent. Offered the first chance to purchase whole property outright, Walgreens declined. Even after Corporate spent last decade buying up locations for new outlets across the continent. The structures sub basement engineered to support a tall building also contained a local Fallout shelter. Newspapers of the time declared its intersection as the best centrally located within region for most expansive destruction when Russians chose site to drop "The big one"! A new legacy begins for our community in late 2015 when World/Walgreens moves back into their same locations shinny new building. Welcome home!

Terrible service. I was sick with the fever waiting for the prescription to be ready. No one even told me that its ready. Pharmacists lied that she called me over the phone. I was sitting there until I asked how long will they drag? No respect, all three of them knew that I was sitting there and no one mentioned that its ready.

Everyone is very polite. The pharmacy staff is especially helpful. Its a great pharmacy and most people in this area choose this Walgreens as their pharmacy. The lines move quickly and Ive never had an issue with returns here. Ive been going here for years myself. Another perk is that they remember returning customers.

What outstanding service! Gloria, and Katie took great care in helping an 86 yr. old woman make her purchases and took her to her car to load it and make her feel safe at her age, shopping during the holiday seasons.

Racist they follow any African Americans that come in the store, they watch them like they are going to steal something all African Americans dont steal
