If youre looking for a good cup of coffee in the Streeterville area, youd be hard pressed (French pressed?) to find a better cup. This place has fairly fashionable tables and chairs, but its comfortable, and the staff is chill and friendly. And as you would hope, they also make a great cup of coffee (thanks in part to their most excellent Metropolis beans). In terms of food, I work nearby and come here once a week or so for lunch. Ive tried the turkey sandwich, brie sandwich (which, when they call it out, sounds like a "Free sandwich"), and the veggie sandwich, and theyve all been very tasty. Good bread, quality meats and veggies - gently toasted. You can walk to Jimmy Johns (about three blocks away) and pay about the same amount for a sandwich that is half as good as what youd have at Dollop. Most seating is indoors, but they do have a couple of tables and chairs outside. Thought its close to the street, it makes for a decent place to enjoy your food or beverage if its a nice day out. Also, the good wifi brings in lots of students (thanks to the law and medical schools in the area) - it makes for a good place to work or study, too.

I will not waste too much of my time writing a review for this place. Suffice it to say that all the fancy equipment in the world cannot produce good coffee on its own. I have great respect for the person who came up with the concept and implemented the built-in, under-the-counter espresso machine to really achieve a minimalist aesthetic and give the baristas the opportunity to connect with patrons as they are crafting their beverage. However, to build such an elaborate stage and then cast such incompetent and seemingly disinterested players makes me seriously question the motives of those in charge. The baristas on my recent visit seemed to have much better things to do than make my macchiato and the results clearly demonstrated as much. To call the beverage uninspired would be putting it very lightly. The muffin I had was acceptable but unfortunately little else of my experience was so. If you are looking for an interesting take on espresso equipment, this is the place, but if youre looking for good coffee, look elsewhere.

While visiting a friend in Chicago I stopped by this place for a cappuccino. My friend warned me it had a pretentious hipster atmosphere and rude customer service, but I might like the coffee. I rate coffee places on cappuccinos. This place failed in that regard. Not very strong espresso flavor, it was more like a latte with a lopsided heart shape on top. The rickety metal side table to get a lid was dirty and multiple lids had coffee on them like they were previously used. (I should add that it was not busy, there was no wait to order, and there were two employees present.) So, if you would like to experience a barista who acts like you are disturbing their day by asking for a coffee, and paying an overpriced amount for an okay beverage, this is the place to go!

Great place to have breakfast at the Ohio street. With very few vegetarian options being the downside, we went for a veggie sandwich, a brown sugar almond cake, and Cortado. The sandwich tasted good and fresh. However, it had an unusually large piece of red pepper. But the rest of the veggies came together very nicely with the bread. Muffin was great. Not very sweet - just right. Cortado, however, wasnt so great as we have had better ones before. The place is quite busy in general but not so much of wait compared to other known places for breakfast in the vicinity. The staff is quite friendly and quick on service. Seating can be improved as most of the seating here is high chairs. Overall, a good and less crowded place to have a decent breakfast.

Not only does this place have awful customer service, the food and coffee is just decent. I have yet to be back but living in The Streeter, I am becoming a pretty upset resident with this place. They have had problem after problem since moving into the building. First, a fire that caused the whole hallway and lobby of The Streeter to smell of burnt plastic. Now they have plumbing problems and all the customers have to use The Streeter lobby bathroom. And even better...jack hammering all day. I dont know about you but "plumbing problems" makes you wonder what else is going on behind the scenes. There are plenty of other amazing little independent coffee shops near the area. I recommend you try one of those!

Among the latest gems to appear in Streeterville is Dollop Coffee & Tea in the base of The Streeter apartment building. This place provides a welcome place to relax with friends and a cup of joe while you watch the world go by. The coffee is terrific, the treats delicious and the ambiance par excellence. What I enjoy most is the large seating area which is comfortable and uncrowded, unlike many smaller shops of a national character. The high ceilings and extensive floor to ceiling windows also give the place a feeling of openness and comfort. It should also be mentioned that this is not a national chain, but a local business well worthy of your support.

Dollop is definitely one of my favorite coffee shops in the area with their modern look, centralized location and some of the best chai lattes Ive ever had! Service: Its pretty quick, and the baristas are pretty patient explaining items on the menu, etc. Ambience: Clean, open, tons of natural lighting, and lots of outlets for laptops! Food: Ok, obviously the tea and coffees are great, but the sandwiches and bagels are in their own league of coffee shop sandwiches. Oh, and in case you want something sweet, skip their pastries and go straight for a slice of Hoosier Mamas seasonal pie (yes, Dollop sells their pies!!!).

With all of the students living in the area, a coffee shop of this size has been long overdue. The coffee selection is very good, and the pastries are excellent as well. I have yet to try a sandwich but that is next on my list. I really like the vibe I get when I stop in for my coffee. The only complaint I have is that the front doors are set up awkwardly - that sounds minor, but it is an issue if you are carrying out multiple drinks (I dont want to have to pull the door open when I leave). Overall, this place is great and I hope they stick around for a while.

If youre looking for a poor customer service experience, mediocre coffee at high prices, this is your coffee place. I will say it is very modern and looks very interesting, but I was not impressed with the quality of coffee, or the service I received. For as much money as they charge (and as little coffee that you receive) youd be much better off going to a chain. If the customer service was outstanding, I might come back. However, if you go out of your way to look disinterested in waiting on customers...then good luck staying in business.

Been here a number of times, and have never had a bad experience. The coffee is great, and the nutella mocha is amazing, if youre into that sort of thing (and by that sort of thing I mean delicious). Bright and airy, plenty of seating... and not to mention they sell Hoosier Mama pies... which if you havent had one yet, I highly recommend. Check this place out instead of the usual coffee spot if you havent been yet - might be worth a trip.
