I agree with 2 out of the 5 posts. The service at this location is terrible given you will be paying 20% more for anything - from a screw to a light switch to firewood. Given that, the only reason people go here is the convenience to the home. Given that gas is $3.09 a gallon at the time of writing this, driving 10 miles round trip to save $5.00 on an item almost doesnt make sense. However, that is no reason for the staff and many of the young kids to be rude. Add to this, the ATM/DEBIT checkout is a hassle for the customer. Suggestion: Move the wire so the customer doesnt need to come all the way around the counter to make YOU (ACE/VICKERY) a sale! Theres a 2 cent idea. If I ask you if you have a common CR2025 or CR2032 battery and you dont know - when you work there and it is literally right across the counter, 4 feet away - you need to know your supply better. Again, it is either price gouging, apparently high overhead and rude v. Home Depot/Lowes corporate and FAR cheaper. You make the call. Most people end up choosing convenience and putting up with the rude or inattentive/lacking stock knowledge younger staff. As far as extending a hand or help, the staff is relatively useless.

I can’t speak for the other review but my experience at Vickery was great! My wife and I just moved to the area and needed to do some touch ups on our new house. Vickery is a classic hardware store that is rare in today’s world. It has antique tools and quaint black and white pictures covering the walls. I was met with a friendly employee who showed me the paint aisle with different styles and colors to choose from. They even had a computer that can scan a paint chip or item you bring in and match the correlating mixture. I also needed a specific floor cleaner that my wife likes to use but they didn’t carry it. The sales clerk offered to look it up online and order it for me. They called me only two days later to tell me they received it. Since my original visit for the paint, I have continued to go back to get keys made, buy air filters, and locate those pesky to find microwave light bulbs and vacuum bags. Each visit was facilitated with a friendly clerk and speedy check out. I will continue to shop at this store and recommend it to anyone who needs a local hardware store. You will find it more convenient and personal then any box store.

If you drive across the city of Atlanta to find a single screw you clearly have a screw lose... or your town needs a place like this. This is a "local" hardware store. If you live in Smyrna you likely already know of it. This is where I can find the hard to find hardware and when you want one screw not 100. Yes, they charge more per screw than Home Depot and Home Depot would also charge the same if they still had this type of hardware selection and sold one screw at a time. I always shop here and find interesting items you never see in the big box stores. The place almost always has a one to one employee to shopper ratio. Again, if you are a local, you know to ask the people at the counter when you walk in to find the item you are looking for, never have I ever been ignored. This is unusual because the owner hires teens that seem exceptionally knowledgeable. As a former business owner I know how hard it is to find smart attentive teens. If you dont have local hardware store in your town, you need to stop in and copy this model to help your fellow citizens in your town.

I just moved within walking distance of this store. Not being a fan of corporate anything and very much wanting to support local businesses I decided to give this place a try. On all three occasions, the customer service was pitiful. No one says hello coming into the store and its painful to get help. The last time I was in there (two weeks ago), I walked directly up to the counter / cash registers to ask for help. The blonde kid with all the (arm) tattoos looked directly at me. I raised my hand to ask a question and he turns and walks away. Just like that. Im ok with the very limited selection. Im ok with the higher prices. I will not stand for that kind of customer service and outright rude behavior. If these folks were giving stuff away Id not walk into their store. Im now back to shopping at home depot, which is unfortunate. Of all the local places Ive done business with, this is the only one I absolutely cannot recommend.

You cant beat a local hardware store. Right when you walk in you are greeted and asked if you need help. The people there are true craftsmen and they will help you solve any home improvement problem and even do it for you if they arent busy. Ive brought in broken drawers and theyve fixed it up right there in the shop. You can show them a screw and they know exactly what size it is, threading and all. It is the type of service and customer satisfaction that is impossible to get at large big box retailers.

Needed many different items and one of there associates helped me the second I walked in the door. He knew where everything was and was very knowledgeable with a wide variety of topics. From O rings to the threads on bolts to propane to light bulbs in my refrigerator. I shop here often and they are very nice and super accommodating. I drink soda about 4 times a year and 3 out of four will be from here because its old school glass bottles in a cooler by the door.

Bad experience. Went in to get battery for my mothers watch. When they installed it & returned the watch the device was running but the hands were lose. The young black man who returned it said it was broken before he worked on it. Why would I replace a battery on a broken watch? Made no sense. Not only did I have to pay the $9.99 but my mother was called a liar. Never again. They are dishonest. Be warned.

I have been shopping here for years. The customer service is great. Sometimes they get busy and you may have to wait but usually it is not for to long. Vickerys has a lot of things that the big box stores do not. If you need an off the wall screw with a crazy thread count they will probably have it. Also if you need an older plumbing part that the big box store doesnt have they will probably have it.

Always a friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff working. Its probably one of the few places left that knows what customer service is all about. I remain a loyal customer. Some days you may find the friendly kitty cat that wanders around the store sitting on the counter greeting the customers.

I came here today because I was having plumbing issues. The team here went above and beyond the call of duty to help me out. I have been in Smyrna for years but never went into this place. Ill definitely be a regular customer. Nothing like a neighborhood store.
