Be wary of buying a used appliance from Teen Challenge SuperThrift! Ive had a very frustrating, costly, time-consuming experience trying to get a working dryer from them for my rental property. Below is exactly what happened: Beginning of March: Dryer at my rental property breaks down. I buy a nice, used GE replacement from Teen Challenge SuperThrift for about $170. They had assured me that all their appliances are brought in and certified by an experienced, trustworthy local appliance guy. The $170 purchase price included taxes, delivery, and takeaway of the old machine. It did not include a power cord or installation. Week and a half ago (month and a half later): The GE dryer breaks down. I call Teen Challenge SuperThrift, who tell me that because it is past the 30-day exchange period, all they can do is give me the number to the appliance guy, Rod with Hughes Appliance). I call him and set up a time for when he is in town (he lives in GA and is only in Tallahassee a few days a week). Week ago: Rod with Hughes Appliance comes to the property and says that the dryer is totaled (repair would cost more than to just replace it). He suggests that I get the used Maytag dryer he brought in to Teen Challenge SuperThrift because he just put a new motor in it. He says that it will last me a good year. Saturday: I drive the 3.5 hours into town to buy the Maytag dryer at Teen Challenge SuperThrift for about $180. Again, the purchase price included taxes, delivery, and takeaway of the old machine, but did not include a power cord or installation. I hook the machine up and run it for about 15 minutes. It appears to be working very well, so I drive back home. Today at 11am: Tenant says she ran the Maytag dryer for the first time, and it broke down 20 minutes into the cycle. I call Teen Challenge SuperThrift, and they send over Rod, who happens to be in town. He goes to the property and completes the repair, stating that the belt just needed some lubrication. Today at 4pm: Tenant tries to do laundry again, and says that the dryer broke down 20 minutes into the cycle AGAIN. I call Teen Challenge SuperThrift, who state that because I am within the 30-day exchange period, they could deliver a replacement tomorrow. They cannot give me a refund. I call Rod with Hughes Appliance and he pretty much says hes just as surprised as I am. At this point, Im done. I have no faith in the appliances from Teen Challenge SuperThrift and Rod. If I did get the exchanged dryer and it broke down yet again, my tenant would have to take even MORE time off from work to deal with a repair guy or I would have to waste another weekend traveling to Tallahassee to get a new dryer. So I decided that the smartest thing to do is just buy a brand new dryer with a solid warranty. I declined the exchange. So here I am now: Ive "donated" $350 to Teen Challenge, I have a tenant with a load of damp clothes and a broken dryer, and Im about to spend over $400 on a dryer at Home Depot. That being said, all the people I dealt with at Teen Challenge SuperThrift were very nice. I just dont trust them to provide a reliable appliance. (Also, please dont think I have money because I have a rental property. I have a rental property because Im one of those unlucky people who bought a house in 2007 and are now dealing with a crushing mortgage. Having to spend over $750 to get a working dryer is a huge strain on my finances.)

I had bought Salt & Pepper Shakers from this store in the past and paid the price marked on them. Today I found 5 sets of Salt & Pepper shakers when I went to check out I was charged individual price for each one. I feel like I was double charged. To me this is dishonest and misleading pricing. Has anyone out there ever tried to buy one shaker out of a Salt & pepper shaker set? The manager says he has. To argue with an idiot only makes you an idiot.

Teen Challenge just sent two men out to pick up my full sized bed frame. They were here within an hour of my phone call. The guys were nice and professional. They even gave me a 20% coupon to come shop in their store. Thank you very much for picking up my donations.
