I always liked publix because of their policies about customer satisfaction. When I see the public name I expect to see politeness, helpful attitudes, proper bagging, courtesy and a smile but since Felipe has taken over management the service has gone downhill fast. He hired a disproportionate amount of Hispanic employees who are either not properly trained or just dont care if they get it right. Im white but speak Spanish fluently so Ive done an experiment with this place. If I go through the line and greet the cashier in Spanish, Im treated like a valued customer but if I say "hello" and act like I dont speak Spanish, the cashier ignores me, rings up my groceries without a hello or goodbye and is chatting with the next Hispanic customer before finishing my transaction. I get ignored and even told to go wait in line again at customer service for my cigarettes. Im disabled and dont drive so I often go shopping with a small wheel cart that I use to bring my groceries home... Not long ago Felipe threatened to kick me out of the store because I had placed my little wheeled cart inside a grocery cart.... I was flippant with him and it took all my self control not to punch him in the face. Since then Ive taken over 35 or so pictures of other HISPANIC customers in the store with all manner of wheeled carts inside grocery carts from other handcarts like mine, a cart with an oxygen tank, baby strollers, canes, etc. Etc. His excuse for harrasing me was that my wheels touch the ground and shouldnt go where people put their groceries.... This kind of thing doesnt seem to bother him if youre Cuban. I would encourage corporate management to do a similar experiment to determine if theres any racial discrimination going on. Im sure they will get the same conclusive findings I got in mine. Also, I encourage corporate management to take note of how improperly trained the Hispanic baggers are. They never seem to understand that you dont pack chemicals and perfumed soap in with a sandwich. I used to buy lunch and a coffee every morning and sit outside on the bench with my laptop where there was power and WiFi.... But when Felipe took this place on, he inherited the task of dealing with several homeless people who also used the power and benches... These people would sit at the tables drinking beer day and night, often fighting and acting unsavory. The security never had them arrested or ran off, instead of dealing with the unruly drunk cubans who share a nationality with him, he just had a lock installed on the power outlet. Now nobody can sit and charge a phone or use a laptop. Thanks Felipe for punishing us all rather than arrest those causing the problems.... Felipe, Youre a terrible manager and a racist bigot. When theres a new manager I will consider returning to this publix but until then I started shopping at the fresh market which is much closer to my home and people dont treat you like a second rate customer for speaking our national language. You may take note that most of the positive reviews here lately are written by people with Spanish sur names. Just saying.

While the employees are always helpful the store itself is a disorganized mess. Admittedly, some disorder and downright stupidity are because of the outdated practice of wholesalers and their designated display areas. For example the Publix brand cat litter is assigned to a slot well over my head. It weighs 20 lbs. I am a 5 4" old lady. Usually a male customer sees my delema and comes to help. The few times I have had to do it myself, I could barely walk until the next day.

This place was my favorite more de10 years ago. I say was because it has lost its essence. My husband and I went several times and had several essential baby products such as fortified milk and other foods nest baby. We said, we talked and did not even take into account. Fried chicken is selling inedible there is even one with all the feathers and if so is everything and feathers

This is my local publix and I never have a reason to try to venture out somewhere else to shop for groceries. Its not as large as some of the newer stores but the selection is hurt by this. Its always clean and neat and the associates are always ready to drop whet they are doing to answer a question or help you find what youre looking for.

I just came in and Melani welcomed me and invited me to taste this absolutely delicious dish she was just cooking: roasted winter salad with onions, parsnip and fennel...Melani treated me as a family member and she made me feel like home.. Thank you Melani! Your instant frienship meant a lot to me!

I had a great experience getting my publix sub from Ana from the deli department, she is amazing. Ive only gone twice and she completely remembers me and my order and every time I go she is so friendly and always has a smile on her face and is very great with her customer service.

I have used this Publix for years. When I moved to the Gables I used the one on 37th Ave but now that Im back in this area, this is the closest. I admit there is not enough parking but the staff has always been very friendly and helpful to me

Good services from people who works there but they cant handle the wave of people because is not big enough. Small and annoying parking lot. You will lose at least 5min waiting. Definitely a new publix closer to coconut grove
