Times change or Im getting old. Either way I was the type of person that would go out of my way to find a Discount Tire because of the knowledgeable staff, competitive pricing and the service technicians that knew how to do their job right and were well educated in their field. After going to the Phillips and Baymeadows location I asked how much a simple tire rotation would be and if they had time to get it done the same day. The sales associate informed me that "To have your tires rotated only (not balanced) is free of charge". Amazed, I insisted that I give them something, $10, $20 for the trouble. After the salesman refused I insisted that I would tip the technician doing the work (a tire rotation on a truck is no easy task). After the salesman walked outside and measured all four of my tires with a tread depth gauge (my tires were practically new, less than 3K miles on them) his tone completely changed. I was told that they would not be able to rotate my tires because the tire size that is on the truck is not the tire size that came from the factory. This is the SEVENTH set of this particular type and size tire I have had installed on my truck (2011 F-250 diesel pushing 300K, purrs like a kitten due to regular maintenance. I work out of my truck and it is my main source of income) one of the seven sets was actually purchased and installed from a Discount Tire Store located in another state. In my personal opinion, once the sales man realized he was not going to make any kind of a sale from me and that my truck would be in the shop holding up potential sales he politely blew me off. When confronted about how many times I have had this particular size tire mounted, balanced, rotated and repaired at Discount Tire locations without any problems his response was "well, they should have know better and I cant help you. Sorry sir" as he walked away back into the showroom. This experience has ruined my reputation of Discount Tire. I will never return to any Discount Tire location and will encourage everyone that I talk to to do the same. Yes, the tires on my truck are a little bigger than the ones that came from the factory but in my line of work its a necessity. They fit perfectly on the factory rim, they dont rub or cause ANY kind of problems and my fuel mileage has actually improved (believe it or not it actually has by 2mpg). If you have the factory sized "street" tires where I work youll end up stuck in the mud with everyone laughing saying "sucks to be you"! Anyway, my rant is over. Im going to go look for another respectable tire shop to do business with thats a little more understanding to the average workers needs.

Let me tell you the service at this place really sucks compared to the other Discount Tire Plus and it all starts with management. Before I even went into this place I had called and spoke to a manager name Christian. I had told him I would come in around a certain time due to availability of towing and he told me that would be fine. So when I get there, the front doors were locked and this was 20 mins before closing time so I had to go into the shop to get into the place. The kicker was that two employees were standing behind the counter and did not say a word or even motion for me to come around. Then I finally met Christian who I spoke with over the phone and he had like this attitude/mad look on his face the whole time I was waiting and he was very rude to the remaining customers in the shop and did not once look up from his computer to greet me or go into details about me car. The only time Christian said anything was when his friends who waited for him asked a question or when he opened the door to give me backs my keys. As I waited for my car, the service there seemed rushed like the only thing management and the employees cared about was closing the doors early so that no other customers could come in and delay their time to go home. They need to be reminded that if it was not for the customers they would not have a job. I definitely will not ever go back to this location due to this bad experience.

Saturday morning, tire went out on my F350 ambulance. Managed to make it in to BJs tire stop. After waiting 15 minutes for anyone to acknowledge my existence, the lone employee waded into the lobby. While I waited, I searched the inventory laying on the ground, and found the tire I needed. When the employee searched the computer, he told me they didnt stock my size. I pointed to the correct one in the rack, and he told me it belonged to another customer. At that point, I asked if I could go buy a tire from elsewhere, and pay them to install it. No, we cant do that. Fine, let me use the air, and Ill pump it up to find the hole. After inflating the tire, the sidewall blew out (bad tire). Using the Google search, I found Discount tire about 1000 feet away. I called, and they not only have my size, they had 3 different manufacturers available. Limped down to the shop, and I rolled right into the bay. Within 5 minutes, Id paid for 2 new front tires, and the guys jumped right on it. Ill be in and out in less than an hour, with 2 new tires with a great warranty. Staff is extremely helpful, and act like they want my business. Highly recommend this store. They treated me like we treat our customers. From one business owner, these guys have my tire work.

I was told 22 inch rims would not fit on my Chevrolet Impala by this particular Discount Tire... which they did. No problem I might add. Now its time for new tires, so I thought I would give discount tire another shot after seeing good reviews. Long story short... when I called them, they had to call me back to give me a quote. That took around 30 minutes. The quote was higher than the quote I received from Sun Tire by about 15 bucks. When I explained this to the gentleman. His response was.. well you know I dont think were gonna be able to do the work on your car anyway since thats not the manufacturer recommended wheel size. Lol too funny!!! That basically means if a competitor has you under sold you dont have the ability to price match so you turn away business. Now if I came in and didnt do my homework and wanted to pay 15 to 20 bucks more... then you could put your little company wheel size policy to the side and forget about it. Because there was no mention of this at anytime during our conversation until I explained that I had a better quote. Then I was asked a third time the make and model of my vehicle. Thats when the company "wheel size policy" magically appeared. Do your homework people!!! Its only a good deal until someone beats it!!!

I stopped into the Discount Tire Co. on Phillips Highway just for a quote on tires and just about received a degree in Tire education. Never in my life have I experienced such a knowledgeable and friendly staff at a tire store/auto shop. The second I got out of my car one the technicians working greeted me from inside the garage. Once inside I was immediately greeted once again by one of the salespersons even though they were quite busy, Best Buy should take some lessons from these guys. I was finally helped by the manager Emmanuel, after about 2 minutes and this where they blew my mind. I used to think tires were just pieces of rubber to get you on the road, but boy did he change view for me. I did not realize the different features on the tire were so important in providing a safe, smooth riding tire. He gave me some options on tires and the prices. I usually like to research anything I purchase and Im in the process of doing so, but when I am ready I will be definitely be coming back here. Great place, great service, and great people. I dont recommend going any where else if you want tires.
