I just love animals. In fact, my husband and I drove from Polk City to Clermont to donate. It was raining when we got there. I had spent hours sorting and folding the clothes - excited to help the animals. When we got there, an older lady with short hair (5/7/16 at 2pm) opened the back door. She immediately informed us that she had "no room for that stuff" and pointed at her area which was messy and full of boxes. She instructed my husband to leave the box at the bag door on dirty recycling bins while the rain was picking up and blowing at the box. I explained it was a nice donation worth money & I didnt want to leave it in the rain. She said "TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT, I DONT CARE". So, we took our donations to St. Vincents down the street (they were caring and welcoming). SLAL, I love what you do, but your rescues will not benefit from employees and/or volunteers that are downright rude. I donate many times per year to organizations. This is just sad. Only the animals lose. :-(

I have been shopping in this thrift shop for 25 years! Although Clermont has many resale stores, this is my go-to stop for gently used clothing in like new condition. Most clothing items are priced at only $1 each! Not only is the price right but clothing is well displayed. Racks are not overstuffed and the selection is excellent. In addition to clothing, I have found great buys in hats, shoes, linens, bags, toys, picture frames, cookware and many other items. Good prices. Nice atmosphere. No religious music playing, which is a nice change from the soundtracks at many other thrift shops. Its even open on Sunday (closed Mondays) while the Downtown Clermont Farmers Market is going on.

I tried to drop off donations on a day/time listed on their website as an appropriate time to do so and I was turned away, as they stopped accepting donations early. It was suggested I take my things to Goodwill, whoa! I explained I have a car load of stuff and my intent was specifically to help this location and the animals they support, but I was still turned away. Im very disappointed and feel it was handled unprofessionally. So, do your research before you try to donate here; their actual hours may not match their posted hours.

One of the best thrift shops in the area in terms of quality items, variety and pricing. We never leave disappointed-or empty handed! Plus, the proceeds go to a good cause. South Lake Animal League does so much for the abused/neglected/unhomed animals in this area. We adopted our life-love Bella there when she was a puppy and were so impressed with the entire operation. Many of the same friendly volunteers who man the shelter also man the thrift shop, giving good service in both places. Definitely worth a visit and your support!

Ms. Parker the woman who runs the league is a power tripping woman who would rather keep the pets in shelters than "find" them homes. She is quick to pass judgment upon people without even speaking with them. If you do not possess her unreasonable expectations, you will most certainly be disappointed. After my horrible experience dealing with her, several people in my area have stepped up to express similar disappointments when dealing with the woman. Avoid this shelter!

The staff of SLAL makes sure the animals go to good homes, and I applaud them. I happen to know that Kwright23 declaws her cats and thats why she wasnt approved to adopt one. I own three cats and would never put them through that pain. This is just a review of a person who didnt get her own way. I would definitely recommend SLAL.

The people who work there have always been excellent to us. I have found great deals there and my son loves to look at the toys. Its nice to be able to get him a little surprise that doesnt cost $5 or more. I really enjoy going there.

Great place for finding that new pair of pants or a new watch. It has a lot of Variety. Plus all the sales help the Southlake animal shelter. Lots of book and magazines. They take all kinds of donations .

I love this place! The goods are well curated and who can beat helping animals when you go thrifting! If you are dropping off goods, call ahead because they do not accept things every day.

I shop here a lot for school supplies and other items. I often get great items for only a few bucks. I also feel buck knowing I am helping our furry friends.
