Wanted to donate my car to a charity. The charity said that Capital Auto Auction will handle the towing of the vehicle from my home. They contacted me, but they said they wouldnt come out in the afternoon when I get home from work. They said the best they could do was a 2-hour window on a Saturday morning. I asked them to call 1 hour before arriving to which they agreed. Guy never showed up and never called. I had other things to do and left. Finally, got a voicemail a few hours later saying he was 5 minutes away. Too late. The next day I called a different charity and they accepted the car within a few hours. I feel bad for the first charity - I told them they should use a different auction company. But it doesnt end there: Capital Auto Auction called 2 days later and said the guy was there on time! They are either liars or idiots!

The wait time to process vehicle purchases is appalling, and could do with an overhaul. The disconnect between this location and where most of their vehicles are held (~15minute drive to Maryland) also complicates things quite a bit, as there are constant traffic jams in the area. The people in the service windows are great at what they do, but with the resources they have, they are basically required to dig ditches with forks. Some of their practices while not illegal, are quite unethical eg. Clearing check engine light codes, and transmission problem codes. I have been a victim of both instances. So if you seek to buy vehicles with a great chance of enormous, hidden, added costs, I say buy from them.

These people are rude and nasty I called on Friday to get a quote on my vehicle because of the holiday I called back to see if they could come and pick up my vehicle for the quote they quoted over the phone they said they never gave me any amount for my vehicle and they would not give me a quote but they did I wrote it down. I spoke with the supervisor and he got nasty with me to I dont know how they stay in business if they cannot remember what they tell there clients or customers over the phone. They denied everything they said to me. I would not even give them a rating at all the rating I would give for customer service is an F because you cannot treat people like that.

Some cars are pretty good, but others have very high mileage. I bought a car with a lien release letter attached to the title and tried to register in DC, but was unable. The staff at the DMV told me I only had one part of the MD title(Capital). Mind you, I had already purchased insurance on a vehicle that I am unable to drive due to this titling issue. So after running around for about two days I finally got my title to the main branch and they sent my title off to MD so that I could register in DC. This process has taken 2-3 weeks and has been a great inconvenience. Thinking about getting my money back and going to a dealership and getting a car note. Wish me luck.

Do not buy a car from them, unless you are ok to buy a stolen car. One of the owner Reid has certified that the Carfax was cleaned and I recently went to a dealership car to sell my car as I dont need it and big surprise, the car is reported stolen and was in an accident. Disappointed by this company. Do not waste your money Update on December 23, 2016: Reid was very open to discuss about this issue and he fixed it. I understood that was not his fault or the company as it was because Carfax did not share the accurate information. Overall, I would recommend Capital Auto Auction because they are professional and proactive to fix the clients issue. Thank you again

Dont be fooled people, they sell what they claim to be green light cars but what they consider green light cars is a car that simply can start up! A car starting is no indication that its a good car, there could be major things wrong with it! I know auctions are about taking a chance and you buy a car as is but cmon, nobody has a $1000 or more to spend on a car that is really no good but theyre manipulating the situation to make u think otherwise! I recommend an auction in MD or VA, at least out there you get better quality cars to select from.

I had an encounter with Mr. Vernon 2 years ago, he assuaged my frustration only after 2 mins of conversation. Today (1/4/17), I had bought a Toyota Camry from the auction and the accompanying key will only turn the ignition, but will not open the door - in short, I was locked out. With only one call and without any question(s), Vernon said he will pay for the service to get me a new key - what a service! Thank you Vernon, I will always do business with you - Awesome!

Capital Auto Auction is a nice auto auction where there are always good, clean, used cars at good prices. Here are mini-vans, sports cars, boats, campers, and motorcycles. Jesus Christ!!! They need to update their technology. This company opened in 1989, the problem is they still operate like its 1989. Why is it so difficult to simply pay the money and pick up the car? And whats the point of having all these different locations if you can only pay at one of them??? And stop lying about the conditions of the vehicles.

Lot of used and under 2004 cars. Only a few over 2004 cars. The person in charge said, they are all donated and you know what it means. They have auctions on Saturdays and they are free ( As he said). The cars are inside a garage and kind of dark. Maybe it is a good place for low price under 2000 cars.

Great organization and selection of vehicles. Many cars are donated to charity so you are helping a great cause in addition to getting a great inexpensive car. These guys will work with you if you have any questions or problems. Highly recommend for public buyers or sellers!

Check this place out. Great auction. This is the auction to buy a nice vehicle at the price you choose. Helpful office staff, friendly auctioneers, top notch facility all the way around. They do have rules, I guess the negative reviews are people who do not comprehend?
