I will NEVER shop at any Jo Anns again. Nor will my husband who spends hundreds of dollars here a week on supplies. I went in to buy some stuffing... there was a red sale sign on a bin of 20 oz. stuffing... for 2.99...so I grabbed the last 4 bags...and waited in a long line of people to be rung up at the register. Finally an older asian woman rings me up...and I notice the bags are ringing up at 4.99... so I say oh those are on sale... she says no they arent I say Yes they are!!!! Go check the sale sign. She does... she doesnt want to... but she does.. she comes back and says there is no sign.. So I go back to take a look... and low and behold... its gone!!!! I ask if she took it down... she says no... Now, people... I am not a liar... I saw a big red sale sign... with the price of 2.99... I ask her again...and she still denies it... I saw that freakin sign 10 minutes ago... the woman took it down and hid it... cause it is nowhere to be seen.... So.. I say fine.. I dont really care what the price is... thats not the issue... when I get back she goes to talk to the manager... and I am at her register... she tells him I said there was a sale sign and it wasnt there... I say it was... and that someone took it down... he yells across the store at me... in front of several customers..."I WILL NOT HONOR THAT!!!!" What the???? I worked several years thru college in retail... managers do not say that... I know customer service... you at the very least come and talk to the customer... YOU DO NOT YELL ACROSS THE STORE AT SOMEONE.... I said fine... just finish ringing me up, I want to leave... I apologize to the lovely woman behind me who says she would do the same thing... and I get my stuffing... take one last look at the stuffing aisle... for the red sign...cant find it and head out... Really? did this just happen to me? A stupid woman made me into a liar? I mean come on...

This particular location has really gone downhill, with surly employees who cant be bothered to answer simple questions and a very messy appearance. Now they are charging customers to use a shopping cart!!! This is another glaring example of a total lack of customer service at this Joanns, though other locations dont seem to be much better in this area. Youd think they would want to make it easy to shop at their store, but instead they have to make it harder by charging a quarter to use a cart that has broken wheels. I find it offensive as a customer: the inference is that I cannot be trusted to use a cart responsibly. Additionally, they only had one person checking out a line of more than 20 customers, some commenting that they had already been in waiting to check out more than 10 minutes. Seems like they dont have a clue about what customer service is all about: helping your customers have a positive experience. Im tired of bad experiences at Joanns, so why go there??? NO REASON.

I have been a customer at this Jo-Anns for the last nine years. There are NO other craft supply stores like Jo-Anns within the Sherman Oaks/Studio City area. If I need something quick they usually have it. The sales associates are polite and helpful and have looked up items for me. Since they cant all be crafters/sewers/scrapbookers/jewelery makers/knitters/bakers etc. I dont expect them to answer questions they dont know the answers to. Although they frequently will point out another employee who can. It is probably the smallest Jo-Anns in the Los Angeles area and it is very good for what it is. Furthermore they got refurbished about a year ago and have more merchandise then previously. The reason for shopping cart problems is due to theft, their shopping carts kept on disappearing. I am grateful to have a Jo-Anns near, rather then having to drive much further afield.

I have just never had a great experience at this store. Ive learned to accept the fact that, inevitably, what you THINK is on sale is probably NOT actually on sale. And they arent very helpful (telling me something is across the store, and then when I ask you about it 2 more times because I cant find it, you will wont bring me over to show me where it is, is not helpful). Any time you ask a question, its like you are bothering someone. Rarely does an employee smile at you, or take the time to be, I dunno, courteous. Of course there are a few exceptions (I think Ive met one), but for the most part, its pretty clear they hate their jobs, and probably you for making them do it. But they do have a decent amount of fabric, and is the only place around for it... so I will begrudgingly keep going... and just know what to expect (ie: nothing).

Very annoying to have to pay for a shopping cart, but terrible customer service is why i will go out of my way to not go back. i had a young toddler and large purse that was coin free (thanks to the solicitors out front asking for all your change.) the cashier did not even look at me directly when calling - they are 25 cents to rent. so i only got a few things off my list before i had to call it quits because i couldnt carry everything/ maintain a toddler. if you want to be all particular and lock up all your carts, fine- but how a bout a little customer appreciation or service? a floor manager could offer to get a cart for moms who have too much going on. (not that anyone offered to help me on the sales floor either). i would have happily spent more money, and would have come back (with a quarter this time).

This Joanns is sad. I honestly get depressed every time I attempt to shop here. They barely carry anything except the most basic items. 9 times out of 10 though, the basic item I came in for is sold out. The prices are WAY too high... 25-40% higher than Michaels. And fabrics that cost $3-4/yard downtown are easily $12-15/yard here. Their staff is incredibly slow and it takes forever to check out or get anything measured/cut. I imagine the only reason they stay in business is because theyre the ONLY fabric store in this area. Dont waste your money here. Go downtown or order online.

Good selection of basics - cotton prints, lots of quilting material. They always have sales on something. Its a good basic home sewing one stop shop with patterns, notions, a variety of fabric types and even machines. But, if youre a more serious or professional sew-er, you may be happier going to the fabric district where there will be more specialized stores. Joann does have their own designs which are cute. As well as plenty of other basic craft supplies as a Michaels or hobby lobby may have, in more limited selection, for small projects.

I have to agree with other customers - the personal is very rude. They treat you in the best soviet traditions: like they despise you and dont care if you are happy about anything or about the products. Thats sad and unfortunate. Selection is not as great as in Santa Monica - but it does say that its a smaller store and therefore youll be able to buy necessary things. But again, dont rely on those women who work there - theyll treat you as you are interrupting them with some stupid question - and thats NOT what they are here for!
