| L O C A T I O N | Tucked quietly behind Lemonade and in the courtyard. (Sugarfish is next door!) | S E R V I C E | I LOVE Philzs motto: "Bettering Days". Its perfect for what they aim for and do. Its crazy how a great cup and a genuine smile can really turn around s bad day. Another thing I love is that the bar is made for customers to walk up directly to the barista; at more traditional cafes, the baristas are behind the espresso machine or glass and you dont really get that one on one interaction. But at Philz, youre encouraged to talk to your barista. Harris, thank you for the solid recommendation and the friendly chat; great way to start my morning. (: | D R I N K | + Iced Mint Mojito (sml | $4.50) You cant go wrong with this signature Philz creation. + Iced Mocha Tesora (sml | $4.50) Theres something amazing about their mocha. I prefer a slightly sweet mocha over an overly sweet and decadent mocha. Philz has a great one! + Dancing Water ( sml | $3.50) I wanted to try something new and Harris recommended this because of the chocolate notes it has and he threw in some cinnamon while brewing it -OHMYGAWD! Looks like I found my new drink. ;) | E A T | Lots of yummy pastries to eat here. From croissants, cookies, and muffins. But I recommend their almond croissant or the ham & cheese croissant. Its a nice contrast to the coffee. | S P A C E | Like Philz other stores, the Pasadena space evokes a warm and welcoming atmosphere. From the staff to the lighting to the big communal table, it puts a nice emphasis on community. Lots of outdoor seating for enjoying the perfect LA weather! I definitely can see this being a haven for those looking to sip and relax. Of course they offer free Wi-Fi. They also have a small game section and take one, leave one book shelf. Definitely my kind of joint!

Interesting what is this Philz coffee I heard about. It does not taste like burnt coffee with a picture of green girl? Cough, Star-not-going-there-sucks. After a greasy lunch I wanted something cool and refreshing during a record hit day in summer. Hmm a mint mojito this sounds good. The first sip hit me like a jackpot machine because I knew right away I made the right choice. I got the feeling that a large is not enough and if the line wasnt starting to develop I would have ordered another one. The drinks take time even with hardly any line. The drink was refreshing like a mojito or a lavender lemon from Native Foods minus the alcohol and lavender with a hint of coffee non alcoholic liqueurs. Forget Bloody Mary drink as a hangover cure you need a drink that taste like a mojito but also taste like the child of a coffee goddess. This place is where you want to be. The atmosphere isnt a coffee snob artsy fartsy place or a S sucks line of people with fake coffee. I want to say it feels like a small town coffee shop like what I experienced in Lake Arrowhead or Mammoth Mountain. Charming. I recommend as a cure for the average coffee place.

This was a great experience. Its a really laid back atmosphere compared to most higher end coffee shops. Admittedly I was an idiot and didnt correctly read the menu. In fact, even after it was explained to me I still didnt get it until I took a second glance.. But the dude behind the counter made a couple of recommendations and the coffee I ended up with was really solid. One thing to note about the coffee here is that it will all be a specialized mixed blend of beans and other flavors which depending on your choice can be a mild adaptation or make your coffee really sweet. Also the employees handle cream and sweetener, so if youre like me and prefer good coffee to be as close to black as possible (without actually being black), run it by the barista to let them know because light sweetener has a different definition to a majority people.

The "Philz way" coffee with the thick manufacturing cream is a bit too much for me. But, the coffee itself is pretty good. The problem at this location is the service. The baristas are not that friendly and service can be a slog. There were people who were waiting in line in the wrong place. The baristas clearly saw them, made eye contact, and offered them no help and just let them stand there looking lost until other customers pointed them to the right place.

Id never heard of this place before a friend took me here and said, "You HAVE to have Philz." I must admit, I dont know what I expected (probably something like Starbucks, I guess). Really great place with interesting flavor combinations. One of their most popular and highly recommended drinks for a first-timer is the mint mojito coffee. A little more expensive than I was hoping, but for the quality of food and service, its worth it.

I came in for an Americano and left with an Ether!!!! It was fantastic but what was even more so was the service! Wow! She nicely told me they dont do espresso, but offered an even better alternative and made sure I loved it before leaving the shop. It wasnt just me getting the special treatment- all baristas were patient, kind and caring to each of their customers. Incredible!!!!

Took my am walk in Pasadena this morning. I had Philz coffee a year ago in SFO and been looking for one to open in LA. Luck has it its now in my backyard has great tasting coffee. I ordered Mocha Tesoro absolutely in heaven with my other favorite hint of chocolate. Paired with monkey bread Im a happy camper! Came back for mint mini to iced coffee. Very good strong and refreshing.

I walked in on a Monday morning, expecting a typical Starbucks like coffee shop...but thats not the case. Every drink is a pour over and made one at a time. The best part is that the servers and baristas were actually really nice, and not pretentious, like some other coffee shops. OH, I spoke too soon, the best part is that the investor of Philz is Snoop Dogg!

Coffee was the one thing they didnt mess up. Barista didnt know what an espresso was, iced coffee was almost undrinkable, wait it was undrinkable, I took a sip and threw it out. Pastry I got was hot on the outside cold on the inside. Staff was friendly, at least I said one nice thing.

Baristas are friendly and super helpful, making for a typical, enjoyable Philz coffee experience! Try any of their specialty coffees for a nice treat on a hot day. Also a good place to study because they have a large table with many outlets, and the AC is usually blasting.

Above and beyond customer service...I was so excited that Philzs set up in southern California! I was introduced to them by my brother up north...and I never been disappointed! Best philzs with amazing baristas.. I would go out if my way to come to Pasadena for them!

Coffee was on point! The service was not as friendly as Im used to, but it wasnt bad service all the same. Its hidden away behind the Lemonade restaurant, in a quiet courtyard. Lovely location and good for reading, doing homework, or having a good conversation.

I love the Decaf Mocha Tesora and my kid loves the Hot Chocolate. She says its the best "on the go" cocoa. I like that the coffee is low acid so that both my belly and brain can enjoy it. The service is good and the place is still mellow. Love it!
