I am a Whole Foods superfan, but have tired of the Palm Desert location because of the very poor customer service. I have found the checkers polite and friendly with good service. However all the wait staff behind the prepared foods, bakery (sweets) counter and the meat counter are terrible. Too many times I have had to wait for service a long time. Most of the wait staff do a excellent job of seemingly ignoring and pretending there arent customers to be served. Even though there looks to be lots of staff behind these counters they dont try very hard to help. One time I watched 4 staff members cutting cheese and wrapping it for display and successfully ignoring 3 customers. After a lengthy wait today and ringing the bell twice what happened next has made me decide to take my business elsewhere. Now with 3 people waiting 1 young man asked me what I would like and when I gave him my simple request he took a frustrating long time to get a container then asked again what item I wanted as another woman (staff) walked by he called her back, said something to her tuned and walked away. Leaving me to ask her to fill my order I waited longer for her to put gloves on and ask me again what item. So finally after 4 requests I finally got a very expensive piece of salmon only to find out later it wasnt very good at all. Sorry to say I wont be shopping at Whole Foods Palm Desert anymore its just too frustrating.

So. Palm Desert was in desperate need of a Whole Foods. I have shopped their twice in the past week while in town visiting family. The store is nice, however: 1) There is no place in the parking lot to return the shopping carts forcing, shoppers to walk back to the store entrance in high heat. This causes some shoppers to ditch their carts in parking spaces around the lot and on the berms in the parking lot. 2) While shopping in the pre-made hot food section, we noticed flies sitting on the food. Gross! 3) Most of the produce was subpar and did not meet my experience of Whole Foods standards. 4) We asked for help looking for a product in the bakery. The manager came to help. She was flippant, seemed to be annoyed and acted like we were wasting her time, rushing off as soon she could. The checker similarly was cold, unfriendly and had no personality. Baggers need a little education about to pack a bag being, the peaches were packed on the bottom while the potatoes lay heavily on top of a full bag. No one asked us if we needed help carrying the 4 bags of groceries to our car. Aside from customer service being crucial to any shopper wanting to return, its even more important at a premium store. Hopefully this constructive criticism is beneficial to the success of the Palm Desert Whole Foods. Thanx for your time

Having shopped at Whole Foods for years, we were excited to FINALLY have one in our area. No more driving to LA or Vegas for our Whole Foods fix. When it first opened, we were disappointed by the poor service but recognized the challenge of training a new staff and opening a new store. Today, Jan.1, 2015, I had another typical Palm Desert Whole Foods experience. I waited to order a pizza to go. I was the only person in line. After a few minutes, two other people walked up. Of course, the young lady waited on them first. When I finally ordered, the young man said it would take "15 minutes" for my pizza. When I returned, I noticed no pizzas in the oven. The same man asked if he could help me. I said I was there to pick up my pizza. He looked down at a partial pie and said: " I gave away your pizza, Dude. I totally forgot. I am sorry." I was not surprised given my experience in Palm Desert the past few months. They need decent trainers and management. At least Wal-Mart Market is close.

Came in early due to the expected temp for the day(113 in Palm Desert,CA)...some seafood out, no meat or Fresh Chicken/Pork...Produce dept same thing....was not able to get some fresh things I wanted..certainly not like Irvine. CA where I used to live and always abundant. Worst part though, and it seems to happen often here is no cashiers early in the day. Guy on break finally called over somebody in juice area....disappointed again. No real need to shop here with other good markets in area where Customer Service is stressed.

The employees are always very nice and helpful. They have a great meat section, but unless your item is on sale you may as well have gone out to eat. They have a nice array of hot foods, but unless you get there earlier in the day chances are the food will be starting to dry out from sitting. It is also extremely expensive. The pizza is very blah, and I love pizza. Its hard to swallow, literally. It does have a coffee bar and a juice bar as well, but no burrito bar. Its not bad, but I far from love it.

This review I guess just comes out of frustration, I have called whole foods 2 or more times on different occasions, to see if they have certain items, I was bounced around from different department to department! With no one really giving me a correct answer or saying that Im in the wrong department! I hope they fix this soon and Train the staff just a bit better!

When they first opened, it was great. But now the quality of the produce is very poor (moldy precut fruit, avocados that are spoiled after 1 day, etc). Service has dropped as well. Almost impossible to get anyones help (that isno rude or disinterested). Had great potential & i was super excited for them to open in the deserr, but I dont like shopping there anymore.

Pretty good selection on everything. Last year they had more tropical and better fruit selection but this year the produce was more typical. I thought they might have stuff like bandaids and wraps because I scraped my hand on a hike across the street at bump and grind but they are a little smaller location and dont have a full inventory of stuff.

You always hear about the wonderful and overpriced whole foods. And its true. Its a REALLY nice grocery store with many, many options including a tiny buffet style area to take your lunch to go. They offer a discount to local people. But it is still extremely overpriced compared to your local grocery store. But, I would go here again for sure.

One of the best places in the valley to get organic and non GMO produce. Some items in their selection are available nowhere else in the valley. They also value local produce, and all local produce is clearly labeled. Their deli section is nearly unmatched compared to other stores, especially their baked goods and pizza.

When I am performing in the area, Whole Foods is my favorite place to go for a fast and healthy dinner. I like that you can pick up a slice of pizza, make your owne salad and sit with it on the bar and have a beer. They have also great burgers. I gave a star less, because for self-service, its a little pricey.
