My wife and I stayed in Mariposa for part of our 2nd honeymoon to visit Yosemite, with the second leg in the eastern sierras. We figured (judging by restaurant prices) that everything in town would be tourist prices, including the market. Our stay in Mariposa didnt have a kitchenette, but our next destination did. I knew from experience our desitination in the eastern sierras would have exhorbitant tourist prices for groceries, so we planned on buying perishables at Pioneer Market before leaving Mariposa. We bought all non-perishables at a Walmart en route to Mariposa. We were pleasantly surprised to find a full-service supermarket with prices competitive to back home, some items even cheaper than buying at Walmart, Food4Less, or Costco back home.

I really appreciate Pioneer Market here is why: Centrally located, sparkling clean store, excellent customer service and stocking clerks everywhere, food closeout deals in many cold cases, excellent deli and meat department, pharmacy knows your name soon. Finally, Its the only market in town and is competitive on sale items and more if one would look. One must remember Mariposa is a "Gateway to Yosemite" town. If youre driving through the Mariposa area, this is a good place to get groceries. The staff are very nice and the store has a pretty good selection. You can also get a free card that helps offset the cost of gas at some of the local gas stations, based on the amount you spend at the market.

Lots of variety of items that I normally purchase. Produce section well-stocked and fresh. And friendly staff always willing to help. Please remember on Thursday is seniors day 5% discount for seniors makes a good deal even better.

Okay selection. Meat too fatty for price and older community. Great ambience for tourists. Only grocery in town so gets away with pretty much anything. Shop before arrival if possible!

They have liquor and beer. Small town ice grocery store. Sandwiches from deli were okay. Definitely a good stop to get stuff before entering Yosemite valley.

Way to bloody expensive. Its pathetic when you can drive to merced for grocerys and still pay less while putting 30 40 bucks for gas.
