"Do you sell birthday candles?" I asked. "Yep, theyre in the back!" They guy behind the register said. Its part liquor store with bougie snacks and hipstery sodas and part hidden deli. Sandwiches are good. This place wants to be a bodega. Its definitely in tune with whats happening in this part of LA (Highland Park).

Sandwiches were really not very special, unfortunately. Had both the roast beef with yuzu frisee, and the turkey sandwich. Meh. Cant say I really understand the speakeasy thing either. Just a way to use a back storage area for more money making? Go to Wax Paper instead if you want a good sandwich.

My favorite spot on Figueroa. Not only do they have rare sodas, and a great selection of food. You should remember to ask the cashier "do you sell birthday candles?"
