I bought a basic city bicycle from Hank & Frank two years ago. They did a professional job transferring my accessories (front & rear lights, bell, & side-view mirror) from my old to this new bike. When I found that the seat post was set too low for me, I raised it but started worrying that it now might not extend deeply enough into the seat tube to safely support my weight. So I called the shop and asked Frank to specify the maximum level I could safely raise the seat post. Frank quickly contacted my bikes manufacturer (Electra) to get precise information on the maximum safe level, and called me back with the answer. If you buy a bike at Hank & Frank, they provide free tune-ups over the life of the bike. When I rode my bike in for a recent tune-up, they took two weeks to complete the tune-up. (If you call beforehand to arrange a date to bring your bike in, that shortens the turnaround time for the tune-up). When I ask them about possible repairs and upgrades to my bike, they give me honest advice and options, without pressuring me into a high-cost fix.

Every Bike shop on the planet will get some bad reviews, people just dont respect bikes and the employees that work on them. Ive witnessed many reviews online and customers in stores with attitudes. People expect the best for the least and thats just not how it works. Hank + Frank is an awesome shop and a great resource in the bay area, especially because of Josh the head mechanic who is not only an expert level rider but also always up to date with the latest stuff and is a true professional. They are not super cheap or a deal though, like most shops they charge a premium. If youre looking for a steal of a deal thats not them, but if you want good knowledgable people, lots of variety of parts in stock, excellent mechanical work, and are willing to pay whats fair, they cant be beat.

No stars from me, horrible misscommunication, no actual deadlines met way understaffed or this is the busiest bike store ive ever seen, i got sucked into service here and stuck here. I was in the store ine day and a customer other than myself became disgruntled, im writing this as i sit 1 minute past the time they said they would call me with my bike built 2 days later than the original date failing to meet the goal due to miss calculation on spoke lengths...bad store all around imho.

i really dislike this store. especially when you compare it to other bike shops. dont get me wrong, they carry an awesome selection of bmx, dirt jumpers, and mtn. bikes, but i have been sorely mistreated there more than once. i have, of course been treated well there at times, but the last time i was poorly treated was the last straw for me. i stay out of there now.

I go to H&Fs frequently with odd jobs such as headset installs wheels builds and truing. Purchased a few MT. Bikes and a Burley trailer. Ive always received excellent service with a how can we help you attitude. To top that off they offer free lifetime service to all bikes purchased there. - M.W. Walnut Creek.

Came in this morning after blowing a flat during my ride. The guys got me setup, new tires and tubes, and they were super nice and put them on for me for free. Thank you! Great service!
