Love Tokyo Central! Its a wonderland of food items, cookware, toys, cosmetics, beautiful fresh fish, beverages, and nice produce. They do have a nice selection of typical grocery store products (Campbells soup, Cheerios), so you can pick up stakes while youre there. I go primarily for the Hawaiian foods. Frozen lau lau is surprisingly delicious, poi in small bags by the small bread section, bite-size cornflake crunch butter cookies (made by School Kine bakery and worth the calories!), juices, and more. I bought some fresh salmon to make lomi salmon, and it was perfection. The membership costs one dollar, and you get points toward gifts. There is freshly made sushi and a restaurant too. Go and explore!

if you had to compare Mitsuwa, Seiwa, and Tokyo Central, which are ALL in the costa mesa area, id have to rank Seiwa #1, Mitsuwa #2, and Tokyo Central #3. Seiwa gets the nod for the best prices. Mitsuwa is ranked 2 as theres a food court and an awesome one at that. Tokyo Central--its OK, but nothing to write home about. Theres a $1 membership card that gets you the "card member price", and youll probably want to spend money on this as half the items are member pricing. They have a good amount of Hawaiian items strewn all around, so youll want to visit here if you want zippys chili or portugeuse sausage

The best Japanese store in Orange County. It has a great selection of Japanese and Asian grocery products to choose from. Prices are reasonable. I especially like the meat selection where portions are sold smaller than regular supermarkets which makes it easier for me to store and plan meals. It has a great food court where you can select food from a buffet style food line and pay by weight. There is a dining area if you want to have your meal at the store or take-out. Plenty of parking, nice clean store with friendly staff.

Best sushi around for the money. So how do they provide top quality sushi at a low price? Well, this is actually a Japanese grocery store! But it has a sushi station and a hot station, along with a seating area to eat your food. You can get pieces of nigiri for about a dollar a piece. And it is the freshest sushi youll ever have. Thats because they regularly receive shipments of sushi grade fish to sell in their grocery store.

This place is great for Japanese groceries and other ingredients that you normally wouldnt find at your local market. They also have a great food court that serves ramen, fresh sushi, and a cafeteria (pictured) like a salad bar where you can pick what you want. The parking lot can get a little crazy because it shares a plaza with other shops.

I come to this Japanese market for lunch when Im in the area and love their fresh sushi and sashimi at a decent price. They also have a cafeteria style take out that charges $8.99/lb so go easy on the rice, and a ramen place. You can also find cute kitchen accessories and beauty supplies.

$1 membership card, delicious foods to try and super friendly staff. The parking lot is huge, so thats no problem. The eating area is a bit small but you can most of the time find a seat. They have special events once n awhile there, so pay attention to the dates and times on their ads.

I visited this place twice... In two days because I loved it so much and wanted to come back, take my time and discover other new things here. There are still a few things Im hoping to find over time on their shelves that I miss from my time in Japan and I cant wait to come back.

I love this place so much. Amazing Japanese food of all types that you can take to go or eat right there. Asian groceries can be hit and miss and this place is really impressive. The fish and meat counters are great, and all the iced tea options make it shine for me.

Very nice people work here especially the gentleman I always see around the alcohol isles. They always have sales on delicious wagyu beef. Sushi is ok but their produce dept is clean and fresh. The new simplified member ship system makes it a no-brainer now.

Lots of great things at pretty reasonable prices. My favorite iced tea, Ito En Oi Ocha is cheaper here than it is at Mitsuwa Market. Love the food court, too. Unfortunately I already ate otherwise I would have tried some of the yummy-looking okonomiyaki.

This place has such amazing selections of fish. Always fresh. There is also fresh sushi made in the store which is great if you just want a quick meal without the hassle. They also have a great selection of dessert type things. All around a great place

I liked their tags explaining produces, which were helpful to select items. However, need to be careful the expiration day, specially for sale items. Also, the price is little bit higher than other Japanese market or other asian markets.

Awesome place to get sashimi grade fish at a reasonable price. If you wanted to make American style sushi at home, they also sell cooked Shrimp Tempura by the pound at the deli area which is super convenient.

This store has a surprisingly good selection of various Japanese grocery items at good prices. It is a little bit farther from home than the store I frequent, but I will see how this store works out.

Food court is a blast. You can get a little of everything, okonomiyaki, yakisoba, tempura, katsu. Its all nummy. Only place to go for japanese groceries. Mitsua is a tad too snobby for this happa.

This Supermarket is great. They have a lot of Japanese imported items here. I do wish though that they offered a bigger variety of Japanese coffees. Variety of Japanese Green tea and Matcha is great

This place is awesome! Theyve got a little bit of everything. Check out the made to order poke bowls, or any of the pre-made meals. Ramen is fantastic too. Really happy to love close to this place.

We always go here to get our Udon. There is also a kitchen area where you can order some Udon bowls and enjoy during/after your shopping. Make sure to check out the Anime section before you exit.

Great place to buy Japanese food, kitchen and dining items. Good prepared foods in the cafeteria style area to take home or eat in, but is not as good as the food court at Mitsuwa market.

My favorite place to get raw fish. Their Sushi is fresh/frozen but great quality meat. They have every type of fish you want to make custom rolls or sashimi. Lunch buffet isnt bad either.

I miss the larger Hawaiian section that they had when this was a Marukai (no Li hing mui??), but its still a good place to shop for Japanese food, and I like the take-out food area

The sushi is as good or better than what you may get at a fancy Japanese restaurant. Good prices on produce. They have sushi and other typical Japanese dishes to go.
