The guy who will actually work on ur car is very rude and not helpful. But other guys who work inside of the shop at the desk are really nice and helpful. One time my cars headlights had some groundwire issue and it was dim. This is common and I knew how to fix it just dont have tools to work on it. So i went there. But the guy said i DONT KNOW how to fix it. Although they dont know how to fix it, they still tried to Charge me 40 bucks. After that i borrowed some tools from my friends and fixed it in 30 mins. The 2nd time, i was there for a battery test, the SAME guy tested it and just said U NEED a NEW battery. He didnt even lent me tools to take the battery out. He said u need to pay for it. But after i took the battery out and brought it inside the shop, the guy who works inside at desk(i borrowed tools from him) is really kind. He cleaned the battery, did couple tests and told me it is TOTALLY FINE, like a NEW battery. So if u want to purchase something, this place is fine. Fix a car? Hell NO.

They are rude and not helpful to people that are not good with cars. I went in there looking for an oil filter for my car today. When they looked it up they said they need to know if it is a 1L or 2. 4L Because there was more than one kind. I said I didnt know so I went back to my car to look but not really knowing what to look for. I went back in to ask for help. When I asked if someone could go and take a quick look for me the lady at the desk said...." ummm....ya I guess". Which was not that convincing that she even wanted to help. she then told me that I could go take a picture of the vin number. After that I just left and went across the street to OReilly where they where more than willing to help me find the right part. It turns out there is only one kind of filter that will fit my car. I will never go back again to a place that is less than willing to help me and give the good customers service I needed!

I am very upset with my service at Pep Boys. I went in and asked them to fix a squeaking noise that my car was making, as well as change the oil. INSTEAD they came and told me that I needed belts replaced, a rim, two new wheels and my car to be re-aligned. This all came out to a ridiculous grand total. They told me they needed a couple days to find a new rim, meanwhile they changed my tires and because my bent rim was in the rear they were "forced" to move it to the front. This put me in an EXTREMELY dangerous situation because now my car was swerving all over the road. The worst part, they never fixed the squeal and they never even looked at my oil. I took my car to Doctor of Motors and they mechanic there fixed my squeak for free and changed all my fluids. His name is Jesse and I STRONGLY recommend taking your business there. So, you dont have to be tricked and scared into paying enormous amounts of money.

The lines never too long, the associates are customer service efficient & knowledgeable in their field, the parking lot is huge, but not open on every side so your vehicle is safe while youre at the counter & its well lit at night. Their prices are competitive as well as their warranties. The shop is strategically centrally located in town respective to map locations of Chico, and if your ride has to spend the night you can easily get back home by bicycle/public transportation as there are On-line & County Ride stops on both sides of the street. If your there for only a few hours, there are plenty of places within walking distance (some right across the street) that cater to your fare of choice. I think a major bonus for armchair mechanical enthusiasts, like me (lol) is the local Harley Davidson dealer is only 50 feet south!!!

This place is HORRIBLE. I had an appointment at 9:00 AM on Friday, April 18, 2014. I arrived at 8:50 and explained to the person at the counter that I needed my car by 11:00. He tells me that if they have to repair breaks, they wont have enough time. I tell him just to do the inspection, and that I will come back for any needed repairs. After one hour and 15 minutes, Im still waiting for them to look at my car. I decided to leave at that time. I dont understand why they have an appointment system. I guess I made an appointment to go waste ONE HOUR AND 15 MINUTES of my time. They keep mailing me flyers asking for my business, and when I get there, THEY REJECT MY BUSINESS.

First time I made an appointment online, and came in to the technician saying that system doesnt really work and it would be 2+ hours for an oil change. I made an appointment for the next day in person without incident. Second time, I called to make an appointment. I come in and they said 45min to 1 hour. The website says 30min oil change service. I waited for another hour before hearing it would be at least another 30min before my car was done. Ive already worked an 8 hour day and have other things to get done. Dont make booking online appointments an option if they dont actually get scheduled, and dont say a service is 30min when its 1.5+ hours

I brought my truck in on a Saturday and they were very busy. Too busy to look at my truck. They said we can look at it Sunday, keep me updated and fix it. They never called me, when i called, they said they dont have the part i need and is hard to find. I asked if my truck will be locked inside the building at night they said yes and it wasnt. My truck was there for a week with no progress. They charged me $90 for diagnosis. I towed my truck to another auto repair. Pepboys customer service was terrible. I recommend going to any other auto shop for your auto repair needs. The only reason i gave them one star is all of my belongings were not missing.

I have taken my car to Pep Boys for a few repairs including a variable valve timer replacement and a new catalytic converter and have nothing but wonderful things to say about them. They were patient with my worried and repeated calls, always stuck to their original quote even when it was found to be 100$ less than what it should have been and have gone out of their way to help us out throughout the repair process. I live 40 minutes away from this location and would take my car to them again and again. Great mechanics, patient and informative employees, open 7 days a week and they really work with you through the process. Thanks Pep Boys!

i brought my car in for an alignment they destroyed my rear subframe and sheared off the ears off the camber adjustment. Not only did they blame this on me they also couldnt return my phone calls. Dealing with Pep boys operate has been just as bad. after a month i Finally got ahold of Paul Larson the district manager for northern CA he was unwilling to help and will not send me the security footage that he claims to have where they didnt touch my car. The technician didnt even know the difference between a camber and toe adjustment. Im currently filing a claim with BAR and small claims cort. Stay away far far away from this place!
