I was helped by Andrew, who is polite, and its a very friendly environment. However, I needed my car smoged and chose Pondo Auto for a change. I failed smog. I asked what the problem was and the tech said that my check engine light did not come on, burned out. He checked the obd and it didnt throw codes. He then went on to explain that this happens a lot, like 10 or so a week (give or take). So my question is, why wouldnt they check these simple things before running a diagnostic? If this happens so often why wouldnt they check and help save customers a few bucks by saying your lights out fix it and bring it back. Needless to say, I had to pay $108 for a smog. This obviously is something that is not reflective of their vehicle repair services to which I have no experience.

I call Ponderosa Auto anytime I have an auto related need. Not only are they professional, affordable and efficient but they actually care about their customers. The owner goes out of his way to make sure his customers are completely satisfied. You will not receive this kind of honest service and personal attention any where else. It is a rare thing to find a mechanic you can trust. I recommend them to anyone looking for auto repairs. I live near Downtown Sac but take my cars all the way to Pondo Auto Express because I wouldnt trust anyone else with my cars. They do a fantastic job on everything from basic maintenance to major repairs, and on every type of car (I have brought them a BMW Z4, a Honda Pilot, and a Toyota Camry, and they also take care of my brothers Tacoma...they are equally proficient with all types of vehicles). They are honest, they do the job right, and they take care of your vehicles like they would take care of their own. Good, honest, reliable mechanics you can trust.

I have been taking my cars to Ponderosa Auto Express since 2006 because they do quality work at affordable prices. The customer service is excellent, and I always feel like they are looking out for my needs. With major repairs, they always give me options and I feel that they always give me their honest opinion. They are a full repair shop and take pride in their work and customer service. Ponderosa Auto Express is my shop. Ive lived in sacramento my whole life and being not from this area, I was really lost like a puppy. Talked around and people said to check out Ponderosa Auto Express. Didnt have the time and went to a different place in Placerville for a smog and it was TERRIBLE!! Failed smog for some tail pipe thing and they said they couldnt fix it. So went to Poderosa their smog tech did a diagnosis, fixed it and my car passed with flying colors!!!! Best smog tech, friendly people and GREAT customer service!!! Will recommend to everyone.

Needed a smog. Called - they told me that theyd be open till 5.30 PM. Got there at 5.15 - and they told me that they sent the SMOG guy home at 5 PM. Whiny little attitude - telling me to come back tomorrow - no apologies. When I questioned him about his [misleading] advertising saying he was doing SMOGs checks untill 5.30PM - he giggled like a little girl - and wished me a nice day - dripping with sarcasm. Bite me. These guys suck. Give your business to someone else.

Friendly, knowledgeable, expedient service. Staff communicates very effectively what is needed and what the costs will be. I have had my vehicles serviced at Ponderosa auto numerous times over the last decade or so and have always been happy with the results. Their prices are competitive and clearly stated. I enjoy a good rapport with James and Andrew and appreciate their expertise. I highly recommend this auto shop. They rock! :)

Andrew and James have taken care of our repair needs for the 3 trucks, one car (for me) and the various cars my daughter has had. They are fair, give you all of the necessary information regarding price and whats needed and keep in contact with us regarding pending repairs. I had taken my 1990 truck to Folsom Smog test and it failed. I took it to Ponderosa to have it repaired. They tested it and it passed without a problem. They were very polite. I think sometimes when people do not treat us kindly, it is because we did not treat them kindly. I will ONLY GO TO THEM from now on.
