I normally never write reviews for anything, but I felt the need to after buying a new road bike at Alameda Bicycle. The shop closes at 6:30 and by the time I got there, it was around 6. Stephanie, was not only the most kind, knowledgable, and down-to-earth employee, but she was also noticeably passionate about bikes and bicycling. I truly felt like I was getting her honest opinion as a friend rather than a typical salesperson that wants you to spend as much money as possible. I test rode 3 bikes and each were fitted perfectly (I mean to the smallest fraction of an inch) to my body. Stephanie made sure everything was perfect before I went out, which shows her commitment to customer fit and satisfaction. By the time I had chosen my bike and a various other assortment of accessories, it was 7:30, an hour after closing time. I hadnt even noticed, and neither did she. She was just as excited as I was. So not only did they offer great pricing and discounts, but Alameda Bicycle also had the most kind, knowledgeable, and passionate staff. If youre thinking about getting a bike, I highly recommend coming here. You wont be disappointed.

They were slammed when we got there on a Sunday (open 12-5), with a borrowed bike with a too-tall seatpost, a decrepit seat and a need for a new headlight to replace the one I lost. George was exuberantly helpful; mellow and knowledgable, didnt push the spendy item, but offered the bit that would do the job right, for right now--and the foreseeable future. When Im in Alameda, Alameda Bicycle will be my LBS-away-from-home! UPDATE: Back again different bike, older Jamis, but new to us. Planned on getting it a tune, but Daniel got it up on a stand and fiddled it a bit, and before you could say "your nipples need twisting," he had the chain lubed, steatpin adjusted brake tension reset and pronounced it fit to ride. Its hard to exaggerate the quality of service and genuine care the staff at Alameda Bicycle provide. There are other shops on Alameda...but Alameda Bike is the LBS for us!

Stopped into Alameda Bicycle with a flat this evening. The staff was more than helpful selling me an air pump then airing up my tire. They also tried to talk me into buying new tires but I decided to pass. After paying I left the store and rode down the street satisfied with my experience at Alameda Bicycle but quickly noticed my front brake cable was loose. Returning to Alameda Bicycle I ask the staff if i could barrow pliers or a wrench to adjust my brake cable explaining I had just bought an air pump from this bike shop. To my surprise the store clerk refused to let me use a pair of pliers for all of 30 seconds it would have taken to perform this miner adjustment. "Good luck" is all the clerk said as I walked out the door again , with a malfunctioning brake...... Everything was fine when I was buying something. Needless to say I wont be buying anything from this shop again.

they over charged me by 60 bucks and did not fix my bike they way they had said they would i feel ripped off i will be filing a claim in small claims court. another thing is that the staff were very rude to me treated me like they were doing me a solid by even talking to me. very smug hipsters work at this place. if you notice how big the show room is and how small there shop is good proof that this place only cares about selling over priced bikes to local yuppy snobs in alameda and $$$$$$$$ is all they care about. the shop space is small and cramped proving they give two shits about turn around and they just want to sell stuff . another thing is that the lady that works there with glasses and curly hair called me out of my name about two blocks from the shop. she is racist and hateful.

Been a customer of this bike shop for 2 years. Before I purchased my bike I visited several stores in the East Bay. They all had their strenghts and weaknesses, but Alameda Bicycle had the whole package. I purchased a bike there and brought it back for tuneups, service and additional products over this period. I am completely satisfied with their sales, selection and serivice. I like their free lifetime tuneups, and their friendly staff. I would highly recommend this local shop to anyone in the area. Prices are fair, people who work there are great. They have never let me down. Only problem I have run into is having to wait, because they do a lot of business.

When I began my search for a road bike, having ridden a mountain bike for several years, my wife urged me to look at Alameda Bicycles. I was very fortunate to be taken in hand by the owner, Gene Oh, who took his time to learn what I was looking for and showed me the perfect bike. The whole experience could not have been better, yet it did get better. Gene arranged a "fitting" for me with Barry Moon. Barry and Gene share one trait: their humanity. They do their jobs effortlessly, yet with meticulous attention to detail and always with an eye on the customers needs. I will go back to them for all my biking needs and recommend them highly to one and all.

After walking in with very little experience and very little knowledge, they guided me in the right direction and helped me make a solid purchase. But whats really admirable is their dedication to service. My bike-karma had come across some follies the couple weeks after I started riding, and theyve taken care of every issues with great care and with as little financial damage to me as possible. They know what theyre doing, they have an excellent quality of service, and truly care about their customers. If there were 6 stars, Id give them 7...

The staff is great! They remember who I am every time I go in and what work Ive had done by them on the multitude of bikes Ive taken in for them to work on. The prices are a little steep but the customer service makes up for it. And they never try to up sell you on more expensive products. I just tell them my price range and they recommend what they have that comes as close to it as possible. I cant see myself going anywhere else for any of my bike needs.

These guys are the best! I mean, lifetime service, who offers that these days? The have great values, they stand behind their work, carry a great selection, hire cool people, run all sorts of free rides and events, and operate lots of BART bike stations where I park my bike for free when I go to work. I love supporting them and am proud they are a part of my community. Thanks Alameda Bicycle! ===> Cool new website by the way! <===

When I first starting biking, I didnt know too much trends and what in and out. Thats when George comes in. He goes through every aspect of cycling and its safety. This resulted in me getting a wheel set and pedals. One evening, I was running really late with with not tools in saddlebag George got Dan to adjust my calipers so brake shoe wont rub against rim. Made it home safe and sound.

Tune ups for life? That alone makes you want to purchase your bike here. Also if you buy a kids bike theyll take the purchase price of your current kids bike and apply it to the next size. I also like that its a clean store and you can walk down the aisle. Maybe a bike person wont like the "small" selection but there was more than enough for me to pick just the right one.
