I was extremely disappointed in the customer service. I had sold a number of items to Buffalo Exchange in Tempe two or three months ago, and had $30-40 in credit. (very difficult to do considering how little they give you for your items/what they accept compared to some other great thrift stores!) However, when I got to the cashier to buy a top and cash in on that credit, the guy with green tipped hair gave me a blank stare and after punching in my phone number and name a few times, claimed I had had no account with them at ALL. He also said I should have had my credit placed on a card, which I can personally attest to as not completely necessary because I have used credit at that store before with just my name/number without difficulties. I dont know if I just had an exceptionally new and/or incompetent employee working with me, but he just kind of stared at me until I left the top on the counter and told him calmly that I was disappointed, felt like I had been stolen from and quietly left the building. As his store had seen fit to accept my items and sell them, and he did not seem inclined to do anything about it... I see this to be true. If any of you do decide to sell with this thrift store in the future, I: 1) highly recommend taking your items to few other places first to see if you can get more money for them, and 2) would recommend getting some sort of proof of your account on paper and a receipt/card with your credit (and maybe the signature of the employee that helped you). I know that I will be a lot more careful in the future.

As a former employee of this store, I can go ahead and dispel some rumors really quickly. 1) This location is by far one of the friendliest. The staff that works there is incredible. They have a very strong team with employees that know what theyre doing, run by management that actually cares about both the customers and the employees. 2) As far as the buying process goes, its hard. Really. Buyers are trained extensively, expected to pass quizzes, they write reports and do presentations. People act like buyers just take things based on their own bias, but that isnt the case. You have to be picky when it comes to things like that-- its a business, folks. They cant just hand you money for things that they dont think will sell. They buy based on the inventory and what they write reports on, what they see selling, etc. Give them a break. 3) Everyone is human. People make mistakes. I see a lot of complaints about stains, sensors not being removed, etc. I understand that if its a consistent problem, then thats not cool. But a one time thing? Really? They try and move quickly while maintaining friendliness. Its hard to do. Some things just get past the buyers meticulous eye. I assure you, they dont see things with stains and say, "WHOA NEATO LETS BUY THIS!!!!" 4) If you dont like the atmosphere of the store, then leave. Its as simple as that. Personally, I love the vibe there. But its not some peoples cup of tea. Thats fine, but dont under-review it just because it wasnt your style. Thats not fair.

I used to love this place! It was fun to find interesting pieces. Though, over the months, all I have seen is Harley shirts with holes on them and crappy oversize shirts . Look, I know they are targeting a hipster crowd but they really need to stop accepting really worn out clothing just because "it looks rustic or whatever". The whole point of thrift stores is to find cool pieces in decent-good condition not to be on trend. For that matter, I can just walk into a forever 21 and buy a NEW clothing piece similar to the same over-prized item at Buffalo. I have taken good quality clothing and bags that they dont even bother looking at....Or, they only give me 2 dollars for the items they do accept. Plus, only 4 people out of the whole staff are actually nice. I have literally been given an ugh face when they view my clothing which then they just throw in the bag (they dont even fold them!) The prices they give the pieces are insane sometimes too! I used to be a very loyal customer but over the months, I have been extremely disappointed with the selection and how I have been treated as a customer. The staff needs to be nicer and realize that its okay to accept pieces that are not "on trend" whatever than means to hipsters.

(NOTE: this is an angry "they didnt take my stuff review, so if youre not selling it may not be that useful to you) I spoke with a staff member over the phone and I asked what they were buying today. The buyer gave me a fairly long list of items, with the caveat that all of it had to be in good shape. Encouraged, I grabbed my bag of items that had been mentioned, then headed out. Sounds good so far! But no. When I got there, the buyer looked at all of the 15 or so items I brought and turned them all away (despite having told me 15 minutes earlier that this was exactly what she was looking for). She said that "there was nothing wrong with any of it, but they were being selective due to limited space" The only item that they wanted to keep was a one-off shirt that I brought home from Taiwan (not even on the list!). Now, I dont have a problem with someone not taking clothes. I dont have a problem with looking around the mens section and not finding any good items. But I absolutely have a problem with being directly lied to, or at the very least, misled. Overall, other Reviewers were right. Save your time, go to a different location

Notice all of the 1 or 2 star ratings are from customers complaining that Buffalo didnt buy their clothes? They are just bitter. Yes, Buffalo Exchange is EXTREMELY PICKY, but have you EVER thought to yourself, how many people just like you bring in their clothes everyday?! They HAVE to be picky, otherwise, the store would just be a warehouse full of clothes and no way to navigate through it. But enough about that. This is a wonderful store with an amazing variety of brands, styles, and the crew working there is just as interesting. They have always helped me, or at least tried, with a prompt attitude. It seems to me that B.E. only hires "edgy," or "different," people. Which fits for the store. Keeps things fun. ;) And once again, if youre willing to make the effort to really look, there are some amazing finds on occasion. Dont be discouraged if you only go once and you dont find a great deal on the latest Louis Vuitton.

Went in their once with a pair of adidas shoes that I had bought on zappos but realized I couldnt comfortably wear. It had been past the zappos return time so the only other logical option was to sell them. They were pretty much new, no marks etc. I get to the counter and upon seeing them the woman immediately says we dont take sports gear but since I was hear she would look into it. She proceeded to scan that mini barcode in the tongue of the shoe and pulled up that since it was an "older" model, 2 years or so that it was out of style. Will probably never waste my time with them. Better off with ebay or goodwill. If they are just going to con you into giving your clothes for 10% back, you might as well donate them to someone in need who will probably cherish them more.
