For 39 cent a gallon I refill my water jugs with reverse osmosis water purification via the machine at House of Health. When shopping alone I normally carry my jugs of 10 or more in increments and utilize their shopping cart. Today I had them all in a huge bin to make carrying them one trip. After filling them all up, there were heavy in the bin. I dragged it through the store because it was too heavy to lift. 2 white men were working there. I stopped midway because I could no longer pull the bin, and asked the cashier could I get some help to my car. His response was something like "no, I cant have anyone help you to your car, what if my employee hurts their back." A slight smirk seemed to be on his face, so Im smiling and paying my money thinking hes clearly joking in a cynical way. Sure enough, after receiving my change, Im standing, waiting on some man to assist me. He proceeds to berate me by telling me to get the cart and take them to my car on my own, while the other man come and lifts my bin and takes it to my car. All the while this man is walking outside telling me about the cart and asking how do I plan to get it into the house if I cant even get it in my car. I saw my emotions risings as I shooed him out my face and told him his point had been made, he could return to the store, because I sure wont be. Even after calling the store and speaking with the owner Randy to discuss my disapproval of how our interaction went, I learned a few more things. 1. Perception is everything. Being of opposite races in this day and time can cause one to feel or react in a certain way based off how they are feeling 2. I never received an apology (the customer isnt always right) 3. I did learn about the lawsuits and why this precaution is necessary to take by not having employees carry out water to the car because it will be expected every time and its simply not the stores responsibility 4. On the flipside, my suggestion was that Randy watch his tone and demeanor in how he approaches customers, particularly African - Americans (who happen to be one of the biggest demographic of customers keeping this store running.) 5. I was typing while Randy talked and these were 3 quotes I heard verbatim “I’ve been in business for 35 years, I’m an expert in making people happy in a health food store” (i wasnt feeling happy) “I can’t make a store for everybody, I’m too damn busy.” “The 1 unhappy customer out of 120 happy ones I literally don’t have time to worry about it. The recipe works.” 6. I posted this review on my personal facebook page (because Im heavily connected in promoting shopping local) and a plethora of people commented on other times they have visited and felt unwelcome or was spoken to rudely and some have personally boycotted based off their experience. If my African-American community are one of the biggest spenders in that building and can feed their family for generations, then we deserve and should be treated with respect and when an owner feels he has done so and the customer admits how perception may have played a part in emotions but then explains what the owner can work on to improve customer relations and theyre then told that the situation is all about them personally and doesnt address your suggestions, then you take your business elsewhere and make sure to pull as many other black dollars out of circulation

The owner is verrrry personable, knowledgeable and oh so friendly. I visit HOH for all of my internal needs. The crazy thing is (they WORK) who says you need Xanax, Prozac and all the other crazy medicines. We have all natural plants and berries right in our own back yard. They carry nearly everything that you would need from healthy breakfast foods to energy powders, teas, tonics vitamins, body soaps etc. Everything that GOD has made ...they have turned it into something exciting or delicious. I recommend House of Health to everyone I meet, I urge anyone to just give it a try you will not be disappointed.

I was reading the reviews from various customers. I really feel that race should not matter in this case because we are speaking of customer service, but if we must. I am african-american and I have to say that I never felt that my money was unwanted. I must say that I have not had any negative experiences from the HoH. The customer service has been almost superb (almost because I feel superb=perfection and none is perfect. IJS). I have been patronizing this store for over 20 yrs. , faces have changed but I have always felt welcomed. Keep striving to be Best in Business and Industry!

Very knowledgeable about their products. I missed the store closing by about 15-20 minutes one day. The owner who was already in his car, getting ready to take his daughter to a game, got out opened back up and allowed me to make my purchase. Wow! About 3 yrs ago & Ive been a loyal customer every since and always will because I cant name another store who would have done that for me. They have the best price because they check and have discontinued a product that unreasonably increased their price. Such integrity and great customer service. Crystal C.

I have very little knowledge about eating healthy. Most of what I know is all learned from the internet in the last 6 months. So... when I walked in, I expected the same kind of crap you get at GNC or The Vitamin Shop. Wrong! These folks were nothing but helpful and provided a very relaxed environment. They also explained anything I needed to know in detail. I would recommend this place to anyone I know. I get the feeling that they only want to help you and that is rare now-a-days.

Ive been coming to this store for about 2 years. I buy alot of my health food items here and they give excellent tips and advice on just about anything. Ive lost almost eighty pounds from some of the tips and advice they have given me. Anything you need to improve your health they have it. The prices are reasonable and so is the location. They have apple cider vinegar. All kinds of teas and snacks. Etc.etc.i love them.

I love House of Health. I live in Houston, but every time Im in Greensboro, I visit the store to find good, effective natural products to help with any ailment that ive been experiencing. They are extremely knowledgeable and always offer accurate information on what supplements and products will be useful. This is by far the best health food/supplement store that ive ever been to.

Rob was extremely helpful in suggesting a herb that would be beneficial for me. I was truly thinking that I was going to be wasting my money, because prescription strength medicine had not helped me, however I was wrong and saw a difference withing hours of taking the herbs! Staff and store was awesome, it was worth my drive!

I purchase all of my training supplements there and some other healthy snacks when I am around. The employees have a wealth of knowledge not only about the products, but how to use them effectively towards what ever aspect of your health you are targeting. The staff is very friendly and are always welcoming.
