Dishonest and unethical business practices at this store. Stay FAR away! I stopped through here on a book-buying expedition to the Springs. The store is laid out nicely and they have a decent selection of new, used, and even vintage books. However, I selected about 8 textbooks to buy, and the lady working the register asked if I wanted to look through more textbooks that had just come in. Well, of course! Im a reseller, but apparently that is frowned upon in this store. I selected two additional textbooks but the gal said she couldnt price them herself - she would have to call the owner. (Note to the owner: empower your employees to make basic decisions!) So I left the books with her and walked around the corner to grab some sushi while she called her owner. When I came back, she was trying to charge exorbitant fees for those two books. Most of the textbooks were priced around $5-$10, and she wanted to get $59 for the first book that was currently selling on Amazon for $0.01! When I called her out on this, she said that I must not have been looking at the right edition online. I matched up the ISBN perfectly, and then she pulled her phone out to show me that Amazon was selling it for $124. Of course, that was the NEW price, not the used price, which started at a penny. Oh well - I can live with that. If they didnt want to sell me those books, thats up to them. What I cant live with is what happened to the original books that I left on the counter when I went to grab lunch. All of the books that I had selected had price tags of under $10. I double checked the prices several times before adding them to my box. However, when I went to pay for them, it seems that two of the books had mysteriously been re-tagged with price tags at $30! These two books were selling on Amazon for at least $30, which explains the price hike. I called the gal out on this and of course she vehemently denied it. Moral of the story: pay for your books right away at this store and dont let them out of your sight. They are dishonest and deceptive in their business practices, and theyll do everything they can to squeeze a few extra bucks out of their customers. If they keep up these practices, they may make a few dollars in the short term but they will lose out in the long term as their customers go elsewhere.

Why Not Books? has a great selection of books in a variety of genres from collectibles to every category of fiction and non-fiction. The store is well organized and the staff is friendly. They also have a nice meeting room in the back of their store for book clubs or other organizations to host a meeting.
