I was given the time of day by the sales staff. Ive seen enough of car dealerships in the last two weeks to know when Im being taken serious and when someone is wasting my time. Perhaps its the demographic of college student that lends to my varied experiences. I was treated professionally and with respect. I test drove a car and asked what price could be had for my trade and the new car. I got a reasonable quote and then headed on to continue my search for a used car. After some time at another dealership I had two cars I was very interested in. I did my research on each and was confident that either car would fit my needs quite well. One was cheaper (two different car models by the way, not directly comparable). Because of the way I was treated at Chilson Subaru I called them to state what my price was and that if they can do that Id be over in a few minutes to do the paper work. My offer seemed like a long shot but I was confidant I wouldnt be laughed at or lectured about "how the business works". While still at the other dealership and considering simply going to make an offer on the cheaper car (price, not quality) I got my call returned from Chilson and my price was beat by $400. They knew I was serious about buying a car and understand the value of selling a car sooner rather than letting sit on the lot. Ive never heard of giving an offer on a car and the counter offer is lower. Knowing that I could not do that much better on the car in front of me, I got in my car and headed for Chilson. Twenty minutes later I was in and filling out the paperwork. Its rare to find the right car AND the right dealer. Even if they dont have what you are looking for right at this very moment, its worth a stop to talk to the sales staff and let them know what you are looking for. Again, my experience was with Chilson Subaru in Eau Claire.

SERVICE at this place is a NIGHTMARE - I made the appointment with Julie who told me that she would have a loaner car available to me at the time of service - when i arrived they did not have me down for a loaner car but the guy says - ill get you one and please have a seat it will be a couple mins - after 20 min - i walk back over to him and he tells me that the guy is already out in my car and he will be back shortly so there is no need for a loaner car. I tell him that i am sick and that i just want my car back so i can leave and we can reschedule for a later date. However, the problem with these cars is that the bluetooth is total crap - google it - if you are going over 45mph no one can hear you - I know cause when i am talking to people they say "What? I cant hear you" and then I pick up the phone and they say "ohhh yeah thats much better" but of course the people at this dealership say - it works fine! total BS - I could hear the guy in the back talking to the guy in my car and he was saying "its not that your breaking up its just that its hard to understand your words" - He was obviously talking to the guy in my car - anyway this place sucks and you should avoid it if you can.

A year ago I purchased a 2010 Subaru Outback with 20k mi, locally owned and "in excellent condition". When delivered, it needed about $2,000 in body work from dents, chips, huge door dings... and these arent the little hairline scratches or door dings you might see in any car thats been in a couple of Target or grocery store parking lots. These were big, noticeable, like it was banged into daily and recklessly by another vehicle in the garage at home. Also, two sizeable dents in the roof at the top of the windshield and good dent behind the rear passenger wheelwell. The description they gave, including verbally in conversation about the vehicle, was that it was in "showroom" condition. So now Ive paid that price for a vehicle not even close to that in value and needing to repair it at my cost, not theirs. Service-wise, they delivered on-time and included the extras that were negotiated as part of the sale. I should have written this right away, but didnt take the effort. But figured if its still bugging me after a year, then people should know. My recommendation: BE CAREFUL if you buy from there. I wouldnt again. Be sure to check the vehicle in person if you do!

Sales team was excellent, was looking forward to doing business with them in the future, but in my opinion I was totally ripped off by the service center and their warranty. Bought a van early spring with 1yr warranty, temps got higher and we noticed the AC wasnt blowing cold, took it in under warranty they said everything checked out and recharged the system and it was blowing cold again. It made it through summer no issues, keep in mind we have 4 vehicles and only use the van when all of us go somewhere (17yr old daughter) so we only used the van a handful of times during the summer. So late this spring temps start rising and again AC is blowing warm air. So I called the service Dept and said that there obviously was a leak somewhere that didnt get fixed when I had it in under warranty....."nope thats impossible it never would have made it that long on a charge, we wont be fixing it for free as you warranty has expired. But bring it down and we can diagnose the problem and get it fixed on your dime" I said no thanks Ill take it somewhere else, I wont be doing business with Chilson in the future.

Amazing experience at Chilson in Eau Claire! My car had gotten totalled right before Christmas and we went here after the holidays. I didnt really have any specific type of vehicle I wanted, so I was open to anything. It was stressful because I hate car shopping and was worried about financing. Jeff D. was who helped me look at vehicles. He was so patient and knowledgeable, and really put the effort in to finding me something in my price range. Even though my budget was minimal I was treated as if I was buying a $50,000 vehicle. The manager, Jeanne, helped with my financing and worked really hard to get it through and to get a good rate. They really take good care of you at Chilson in Eau Claire. I felt as though I knew I was getting a good vehicle, at a good price, from people who care. I would definitely go back to Jeff D for another vehicle in the future. He not only cares about finding you a car, but he cares about finding the RIGHT car for you. Very impressed!

Have been a customer for about 15 years and wouldnt consider going anywhere else. Purchases were pleasant and satisfying. Service has been nothing but the best! We have only purchased two new vehicles in these 15 years because both were great cars and there hasnt been a need for another. Our 2006 Outback still looks better than most new cars, and handles and rides well. Weve been treated like customers should be which is a rarity these days. When necessary service is required, the waiting area is a pleasant, comfortable place and when requested weve always been given a late model loaner. Chilson has earned our trust, and the new Subaru models have so many great attributes that the time for a new car may be approaching, and there is no doubt where well be shopping.
