LOVE THE GARDEN BUT….. After having my fiancé propose to me in their garden we were excited at the possibility of a wedding at this location. I sent an email to their events department and was really upset by the overly generic email back I revived. in my original email I asked about making a visit to the garden to talk venues and prices I also included a little behind the scenes info ( Friday wedding, small wedding party, ceremony only) All I revived back in the email was the generic please refer to our site blah we dont do ceremony only. There was absolutely no response to my wishing to meet or any type of flexibility. Sad part was is that if they would have been a little more involved I would have considered just paying the total amount for both anyway. Maybe they do excellent for large weddings but my little wedding seemed to almost be spam to them.

This is a beautiful area. Spent almost two hours touring the grounds and I still feel like I havent seen it all and that return visits are a must. We came out to see the LEGO sculptures that are currently being featured at the time of this review and they did not disappoint. In addition to being wonderful pieces of art, the Gardens provided educational information to accompany each sculpture. Our admission was free today to honor those who have been affected by some of the recent violence in our country which was a welcome gesture. If youre in the area you owe it to yourself to visit both to see some natural beauty and to learn about nature and conservation.

Went here on a Friday afternoon to visit the butterfly house. You might need to make to trips if you want to visit the whole park. It was less crowded than Maymont. A section of the park is a childrens play area. I enjoyed the rose garden which had flowers of all sizes and colors. You can stop into the gift shop without paying admission. Its a good place to buy garden decorations or other fun lawn decorations. Prices vary wildly depending on what you are looking at. We got a wind chime and it sounds beautiful. There is also unique, flower inspired jewelry.

A wonderful way to spend an afternoon. Very spacious gardens, lots of room to walk and think to yourself, tons of opportunity for flower photography. However, perhaps due to the time of year we stopped in (early June), there seemed to be far less wildlife than I had expected to see, one or two butterflies outside, and only three different species of birds that I saw. Some turtles swimming around which was cool. Nice little water play area for kids on hot summer days which was a huge plus.

This is a beautiful place. Last time I visited during Christmas Eve and that was amazing.. Beautifully decorated with lights and it was a fantastic experience. Visited it again today on the fourth of July 2017. Its free admission today and it is fully crowded but the staff and volunteers were so helpful that it remained yet another memorable day. Definitely worth a visit. Also included pics from my Christmas visit..

The Tea House restaurant here is a joke. I stopped by for lunch when I was in the gardens and there was only 2 other people in the restaurant. We were seated and it took 10 minutes for a waiter to come get our drink orders. After another 10 minutes, we were asked what we want. Then it took an hour to get that food to us. I will never visit the gardens again due to just this place. Horrible experience!

Was there for a wedding... staff was really rude & acted like they really didnt want us there... the bride & groom had to address the crowd three times saying champagne was coming but since there was only one person doing it, they were done with speeches before it came out... coordinator was no where to be found and was full of attitude. Beautiful site but all FOH catering staff should go.

Looked at having a wedding there and the contract looked like an apt lease fill with restrictions. The rep did not seem hospitable, she seemed like she had more important things to do the entire time I was there. We decided against Lewis Ginter because we felt like they werent making an effort to get our business which made us unconfident they would put in any effort at our wedding.

This is a one of a kind facility for the Richmond area. The grounds are superbly maintained and the staff is friendly and helpful. The holiday light shows are incredible and are a "must attend" event. If you have never been here, you owe yourself two trips. Once in the spring or fall during the day, and once at night during the holiday light shows.

“A Magical Night” We went to the Lewis Ginter Garden during the Holiday Light Festival and we were blown away. The garden is small so walking is no problem. The profusion of lights turn a nice garden to a magical wonderland. Spectacular displays. We also had dinner at the Teahouse, which was delicious, reasonable and you cant be the view. We lived here..

My girlfriend and I went to see the holiday lights presented by Dominion Electric. Might I say it was a fine display of lights and a truly creative work of art. We hadnt been before so we were uncertain as to what to expect. What a wonderful evening and a wonderful display. I hope the photos help more than the review did. #ScottMcNuttReviewsRVA

If you only go once, you have to go and see the Festival of Lights. It is a Richmond landmark, and worth it. No rush on going through, you can spend a few hours there with the kids, just walking around, enjoying cocoa, and seeing the lights. They change the layout and design every year, which is fun. My family really enjoy going to Lewis Ginter

The lights are beautiful however if you think you are going to be able to go in at the Tea house forget it they have like 12 seating arrangements and even though the next group wasnt due in for another 45 minutes and only 3 tables were being used they just couldnt/WOULDNT serve so that I guess they dont like making money trivial really.......

My family have been members for several years now and this is one of the greatest bargains in Richmond. If you have young children they will love the kids area. In addition to all the lovely foliage there is a library, dining, special events, a conservatory and lots of things to see and do. Love this place!

Beautiful gardens and lakes. The views are amazing. There is also a butterfly garden but you have to make sure you come before 5. Also if you are a student you can get the 1 year membership for half the price. Totally worth it. It is also very family friendly with places for children to play in the water.

My husband and I visited last Sunday for the first time. We just loved it!!! I liked the way they display and make the place a little more creative and artistic than regular gardens. It was totally worth paying admission. Also, the food at the "tea house" was great!!
