This is truly a "down-south", "old country" general store. A perfect spot to stop when youre out in Shelby Forest visiting the State Park. The experiences here range from good to something youll never forget. The owner is excited and busy; customers are well taken care of-- the service is consistently great. The food is consistent too but it may not be the highest quality meal youll get all week-- that being said it beats any fast food place (and several sit-down places) hands down every day of the week and twice on Saturdays. Speaking of Saturdays, steak night is great! Ive never been a fan of the coleslaw or the frozen-then-fried crinkle cut fries but the steak (and Texas Toast) has always been tasty and its worth every penny. Generally speaking, the prices are great for the quality of food served here and the options are limitless (which I think is a good thing). My recommendation is the Philly Cheese Steak with the Sweet Corn Nuggets! as a side. Get here on a perfect-weather Saturday afternoon to listen to the band play on the deck porch and youll never want to leave.

The owner and his wife who run the store and restaurant are very friendly, awesome people. I was working in the area and a friend told me I must try their burger. I did and it was delicious and recommend you try it. They also have corn nuggets, which I love. Im sure all the food is just as good. If your going to Meeman Shelby State Park, this is you one stop shop. I wish I would have stopped her earlier. Now I have a new lunch spot when I work out this way. Way cleaner than Shelby Forest Cornerstore.

Enjoyed some sausage biscuits and grape soda for breakfast with the family after camping at the state park. We had the last six biscuits but they didnt hesitate to cook some more if we wanted them. The owners were great; we will definitely visit again the next time were in the area.

GREAT PLACE! Food has a "family cooked" feel to it. Prices are extremely reasonable & the staff is VERY friendly that it added much more to our experience. Thanks for the good time, guys! If youre in the area or headed to the park - make this a part of your trip, you wont regret it.
