I have visited the local largest thrift store for cancer awareness and have found this thrift store to have pricing structured more for a profit setting than non-profit. The items donated to the Off Island Thrift Store, are donations and a non-profit organization such as Salvation Army, CHKD, Goodwill etc are not in the business to charge for items based on the designer of the item(s). I have went and purchased from this store however, I found a few items just recently that I guess was given with the tags from the donator and then I looked at the price of the item???? The price listed was $4-6 less than the actual purchase price of the item given at the Retail Store. Non-profit means nonprofit corporation n. an organization incorporated under state laws and approved by both the states Secretary of State and its taxing authority as operating for educational, charitable, social, religious, civic or humanitarian purposes. A nonprofit corporation (also called "not for profit corporation") is formed by incorporators, has a board of directors and officers, but no shareholders. These incorporators, directors and officers may not receive a distribution of (any money from) profits, but officers and management may be paid reasonable salaries for services to the corporation.

Yikes! I dont often write bad reviews but I left this place pretty annoyed today. I have lived here 14 years and seldom shop there because prices are ridiculous. I decided to stop in and see what they have because I paint furniture for resale. Saw something I liked, way overpriced for the condition, I would have to put a lot of work into it but could see a diamond in the rough. Asked the woman working there if they ever have 50 percent off days because all of the other thrifts in our area do and she said a lot of the furniture was 25% off today, so lets go see if the piece you want is. While we were walking back I said " thanks! I hand paint furniture so by the time I buy the piece, supplies, pay my rent at the consignment shop, factor in the commission I need to find bargains." She proceeded to repeatedly " guilt" me because " we give the money to cancer people" and tell me all about their overhead. I get it, but constantly guilting a customer is very uncomfortable and not warranted ! I wont go back and from now on I will be donating to another cause, and everything I take there ends up in their "boutique" store as I only take them very nice and higher end items.

There are 3 stores; household items (from pots and pans to furniture), clothes and shoes (babies to plus size), and a boutique (more expensive, brand name things). I like that things are organized by size and color for clothes and the household items are by sections as well; kitchen, crafts, furniture, electronics etc. So if you are looking for a pot, you can go to the pot section and see what they have- no wasting time.Do not try to haggle prices. They sometimes have 50% off. I think they would get rid of some of their merchandise if they held different hours of operation. Those who can afford to shop at thrift stores (teachers- like me) can ONLY shop there on Saturdays. Sundays would be nice allowing people who work M-Sat a chance to shop as well.

I invite anyone in to our 4 store locations to see what a wonderful organization we are. Just Dec. 2013 we gave out over $42,000 to locals with cancer. Over $200,000 in cash was dispersed in 2013 to patients. We would like to thank the wonderful community of Bluffton, Hilton Head and Okatie, for making that possible with your donations. Please feel free to come in and talk to us personally at anytime....we invite everyone in to tell you who we are and how we help those who are suffering and in need. This employee was fired for stealing and drug abuse, not any other reason. Funny how people love to lie when they get caught. Karen Matthews, Owner

I just moved to the area and found this thrift store and loved it..at first. Their prices are really REALLY high and the best they can usually negotiate is around 4 dollars off. They will not negotiation price at all if the item is new to the store. I now see why they have 4 locations and overstock in inventory. They have a lot of nice things and I would love to shop there but I think they need to be reminded they are a thrift store and people who shop there are looking for a deal. I dont mind paying for anything but I also do not want to pay retail at a thrift store. Too bad it did not work out..I really like a lot of their stuff.

I discovered this thrift store after I was diagnosed with cancer. There are many organizations that offer emotional support, but this was the only one I could find that offers financial support. The help I receive is much needed and greatly appreciated! The store is huge and fully stocked with everything you could want to find at a thrift store. The people are helpful and courteous. If you are in the Hilton Head/Bluffton area, check out the store or consider donating. Its a practical way to help your neighbors with cancer.

Staff is very unpolite and dont seem happy at all to be working there. They often try to make u pay more than what somethings priced. The owner of this business is very rude and does not conduct business in a professional manner. Dont reccomend this thrift store blufftons goodwill, and the bargain box on the island are much better places to shop with friendlier staff and an owner that wouldnt belittle pass staff and disclose thier reason for termination publicly online. Disgusting, +karen matthews.

Seems I was right about customer service as well as the excess in pricing while I was an employee and for a non profit organization that is supposed to help, you would be suprised to know that I was fired for filing workmans comp when I was clearly on camera while injured as well as my spouse. I can only hope winning my case helped some of the hispanic, as well as other employees. Thought of civil action but was unable since our entire income was purposely cripled by the owner.

I have been shopping in this store for several years. I have always walked away with a great deal. My husband is an avid golfer and Im able to buy almost new shirts for 5 dollars where I would pay 85 at his proshop. The quality of these shirts is second to none. Both stores are neat organized and clean. The staff has always been very helpful to me. I would definitely recommend you stop in and see the new store on 278.

Great thrift shopping. Three stores in the same location. High end clothes and housewares at the first and inexpensive at the next. The last store is only housewares and somewhere in the middle. Its fun!

Great thrift store. It is by far the largest in the area. You have to really search for deals. Pretty much everything in there is overpriced for a thrift store.
