I tried to donate books-my mistake. I unloaded my trunk with two boxes and two bags of nice books . Set them by open front door. Then carried each one back to desk where employee ? owner ? was standing watching me- no other customers in store at the time. I was told when I got them back to the desk I could not donate and she would look through books to see if they wanted any.and then pay me. I felt as though I had offended her ...She picked out 20 or so and paid me. She could have approached me at the door as I was lugging them all in or when I called the store to make sure they were open and said I wanted to bring some books to donate and was only told they were open until 5. There is a list of what they will take on their website-which I did not see until afterwards. It is a beautiful little shop and I am glad it exists, but it was a negative experience overall .

This isnt really an "exchange" so much as it is simply a used book store. The prices are pretty high and the exchange rate is terrible -- $0.50 for a paperback book and $1.00 for a hardcover, and this is regardless of the book itself or however much you purchased it for originally. Theres a decent selection for certain genres but is quite lacking in other areas. You might as well hold on to your books rather than get a few crummy dollars in store credit.

This store is excellent. Its small, but bright and tidy and has excellent selections in each category. The displays are well set out, and well-stocked, and the clerks are always extremely helpful. I highly recommend checking out the store if you havent been since they changed owners and spruced the place up a bit. ;)

Beautiful revamp of East End Book Exchange. The space now feels more open and well utilized, and the new owners are obviously excited to bring their vision to the store and to the Pittsburgh literary community. Good selection of new and used and local titles.

So glad to see this store carrying so many NEW books now! Great community bookshop that hosts readings and is led by fun, knowledgeable owners who are writers (and former publishers) themselves. My go-to place for books.

I just went into browse but I loved their selection of both new and used books. They also have book/poetry readings for local authors. Definitely a neighborhood gem.

Very cute little book store! Has a large selection of used books. New books are well sorted and easy to sift through. Loved the staff picks strewn about the store.

Great book store, always something new that seems to indicate a good turnover on books. Saw Stewart O Nan here.

Nice and tidy, which I liked. Good organization, but not perfect. I was treated very well.
