The pharmacy technicians at this location are some of the most inept individuals Ive had the displeasure of dealing with. Not to mention they change their hours more than I change out the garbage bags in my kitchen. First strike was a drive through technician handing me someone elses signature sheet to sign. Luckily, I noticed that the insurance plan was UPMC. Not once did she ask for spelling or my DOB. Second strike was a male technician with a dark beard and glasses at the drive through. I informed him that I needed to update my insurance information, as I had recently changed companies. He took my ID card, disappeared, then reappeared and told me that it was already on file. This is impossible because I literally had received the card the day prior. The last straw came today. Female technician on the phone was snippy and in a rush to get me off the phone. I was attempting to refill a maintenance drug that Ive taken for years, and informed her I needed to update my insurance information, since Mr. Second strike failed to do so. She took the refill information, and tried to rush me off the phone without updating payer information. I told her to cancel the refill, and that I would be transferring ALL of our scripts to the Rite Aid off of Castle Shannon blvd. I wasnt bluffing. I just got off the phone with them, and their technician has taken care of all of our transfers. I worked in retail pharmacy for a couple of years while finishing my undergrad. I know it sucks, but if you cant handle a basic request with a positive attitude, you need to find a new line of work. I rarely ever leave reviews for places, but you have pissed me off to the point that I will be plastering this review everywhere.

This Market District is nearly always busy. I go here about twice a week on average and the only times I have been here when it was not busy was after 9 PM. It is open 24 hours which is very convenient and the employees have always been friendly to me. They have some kind of child care room on site where you can leave your child while you shop, but I have never needed to use it. They have a dry cleaning service, a catering service and a Starbucks all on the premisies. They also sell wine and beer. Their prices are a little higher than the average market but they have a wide selection of items. I frequent this location most of the time for my groceries and usually dont have complaints.

My kids BEG to come to this grocery store with me so they can stay in the Eagles Nest (free childcare) while I shop. Then I grab an iced tea at Starbucks, purchase some alcohol for the weekend in the cafe area, and then shop to my hearts content - alone! I will say that the prices here are steeper than most places, so I typically only purchase meats, specialty items and/or the giant eagle brand(s) of items, which tend to be more affordable. The store is huge, has an amazing variety of prepared foods/local foods/specialty items, and there is a cafe area where you can sit and eat and enjoy a beer on tap!

I called the market district on11/18/15 around 2;17 pm about an overcharge on a shredded beat salad. It was incorrectly labled as market district St. Louis BBQ ribs. I am calling the store as Im typing this , the phone is ringing and has been for a few minutes without an answer.......then I was abruptly disconnected. NOW, Im angry....We were charged 7.07 for shredded beat salad!!!! Calling a second time... maybe someone will answer......nope.... I guess Ill have to go to the customer service desk anyway....... Do they even care about an unhappy customer? GIANT EAGLE ANSWER YOUR PHONE!!!!!

Market district is a very nice store with a lot of amenities. The beer section and cafe are nice additions. You can find just about every brand and type of food here that you want. You pay for all of this convenience though as many of their prices are nearly double some other local grocery stores. You can get good deals if you shop smart and buy sale items though. I can usually find exactly what I want here because of their wide selection of items and services, I just dont generally do my primary grocery shopping there.

Cashier was RUDE when I asked about the .20 cent fule perks when you buy 50.00 in gift cards that was for fathers day. It was the Saturday before fathers day an I was told the promo was over it was just till fathers day? Its not fathers day yet, then I gave her my fuel card to get the perks nothing was added to my card at all on 63.75 ? Was told to go to customer service if I really cared about my point. That was after I spent another 50.00 on gift cards never again

Its always so packed in Saturdays and Sundays. (Not the fault of the buisness but important to know) Other than that the store is clean and the staff are friendly. Staff will cut you half a cabbage or a smaller piece of fish of you ask...very accommodating. The only negative was the remodel of the prepared food/beer registers. I like the new bar and the open resturant space but because of the registers new location there is always a traffic jam in that area....

Terrible service at Kosher Counter. Counter person just stares & doesnt even ask if they can help you. The only thing ruder are the customers themselves clogging up center of aisles, pushy, screaming at their over indulged children. Poor selection of individual piece candy vs other Giant Eagle properties. Pop machine in eatery broken on the two (and last) occasions Ive eaten there. Ill take a regular Giant Eagle any day over this Market District.

May be a bit pricey, but one can always find what one wants and more than groceries. That saves the time and gas of multiple trip that would otherwise be required. Just got a bouquet for my wife whos returning from a weekend visiting in NJ. Flowers from a grocery? I got there just before the lady was going to make 18 arrangements for Marios Cup reception at his home. Must not be bad at all. Go Pens!

Similar to the other Market Districts and the Market District Express in McMurray I have been to, upscale layouts (as opposed to your traditional big box) This location has a huge selection of everything you could want and it conveniently located near a upscale apartment complex Lincoln Pointe Apartments. I was here cause I needed a new Connect Card and they were able to assist with that as well.

Bottom line, this Giant Eagle is overpriced. They use their inflated profits to remodel and re-remodel large parts of the store, way too frequently. The bakery is small, the aisle layout is constantly changing. Im glad the Giant Eagle lawyers failed to block Whole Foods from opening down the road. Hopefully the competition will drive management to make some sound decisions for once.

Very nice Market District Giant Eagle. Prepared foods are good and always fresh. Large variety of grocery items. Even carries hard to get spices and natural foods. Located near restaurants, department stores, appliance and electronic stores. Close to South Hills Village mall. Very popular area so parking is sometimes an issue. I shop there often.
