Was referred to Sherwin Williams by a large commercial painting company here locally. I was told to contact Adam Price the commercial rep for paints and it all went down hill from here. I took them to my recently purchased property and explained to them that I need a very durable garage floor paint that could withstand a high volume of use in the automotive industry. I was shown several products and was told that one in particular was exactly what I needed and of course was pitched with how "even NASA uses it". I was told and shown via samples that the concrete would require a good amount of preparation prior to painting it. I was told some of the cracks would require using a specific Sherwin Williams brand or they would not be able to stand behind it. Against some bette judgement, I went with their concrete patch product. I rented the stores floor sanding equipment and began prepping the concrete. Once complete Adam and the flooring paint rep came to the shop and inspected the preparation on the concrete and were very happy with what they saw and said that it was perfect and is exactly what was needed for the type of paint they recommended. The concrete filler and patch was applied and allowed to dry. They inspected the patch work and sealer and agreed all was good. After all they are the paint professionals and product sales specialist. So I purchased the exact amount of paint they said would be required to cover the surface area. I was told I would need 36 hours of dry time before applying the final clear coating. I proceeded to apply the paint. Once done they were again contacted, Adam came out after 72 hours and inspected the paint surface and agreed that it was completely dry and ready for the clear coating. Once the clear coating was applied, Adam again was contacted and arrived to inspect the floors. After another 96 hours of dry time at 70F dry weather conditions, as they "perfect weather for paint curing". A final inspection was made, they deemed the paint ready for use. I began my equipment installs and thats where everything went sour. The lift installers said that it appear as if the concrete under the paint was still wet, to my amazement the area to which they were referring to was exactly where the "Sherwin Williams specialized crack sealer" was used. Infect everywhere their product was used began to crack within day. A week later the white floors began to yellow, this was a bit alarming as the longer it dried the more yellowing occured, as did, cracking and shrinking of the paint in several places. The paint failed in so many area what they dubbed as a "hot tire" effect. I called Adam who brought another flooring "specialist" came in and thats when I realized what a chimney felt like with hot smoking being blown up it. The floor rep began to state that the paint we used wasnt correct for the application, but when I quickly stated they had previously made the recommendation, he back tracked to it not being properly prepped. When I showed him photos of the preparation and explained that Adam himself had seen it, he back tracked even further. He said "it must be moisture" So they performed a water test with a tamper proof kit in a unpainted area. The results were visible through the clear resting surface and surprise, no pink (pink means moisture). They said they would send the paint off to be checked for defects. All the time this is occurring I am being told constantly not to pay the bill that "we will make this right" and "this is obviously a paint defect" and my favorite line from Adam to date "I promise you, you have my word and the word of Sherwin Williams, we will make sure you are taken care of" well a month passes by and I make a inquiry about the paint testing and was told that it was "sent off to a third party testing company, so that tells me there must be a issue, but again I assure you that we will make this right" another couple months pass. Paint is now worse, cracks, flakes coming off in several places... best part they are now sueing me! For NON payment of defective paints!
