I called about a rook piercing and Jim gave me a reasonable price and told me I can come in the same day. Fast forward to maybe an hour. I get there and we get all the paperwork filled out (he also looked at my ID after the piercing, any reputable piercer would know to look at it before the actual piercing). We then started talking about the piercing and I told him I wanted a rook piercing on my left ear. However, he did not know where it was (He kept pointing to my helix and daith area of my ear). Wouldnt you think a tattoo & piercing shop would know where the rook is? He claimed that this was because "its hard to keep up when there are so many piercings for the ear". This was my 14th piercing, and I have gone to piercers from piercing pagoda to reputable tattoo shops as well as sketchy stands in St. Mark, NY. I have never experienced a time when the piercer did not know the name of the piercing. However, since I was already there, I decided to go ahead and get the piercing done. During the time that we were talking, he kept bragging about his store and how he was one of the top ten tattoo and piercing places in West New York. He kept going on and on about how good his shop was. In my opinion, you dont need to brag about your shop if it really is good; you let your work do the talking. During the procedure, despite telling him specifically where I wanted it, he pierced it in the wrong place (however still on the rook so I didnt mind). In addition, instead of being one swift motion, he struggled to get the needle through my rook and also struggled to get the jewelry on. I have tattoos and piercings, and in each one of my visits, I always tipped very generously because I have always been pleased. This is the one time I have not, hence the reason I did not tip him. He was also really rude the whole time. My friend wanted to get a tongue piercing and due to the reasonable price, I recommended this place. We went together a couple hours later and she was set to get the tongue piercing. He ended up messing up her piercing as well and ended up doing it twice (and incorrectly at that). He put the jewelry in separately after piercing her tongue and making the (second) hole. Anyone who has ever gotten a piercing knows the jewelry should always follow into the skin as the needle is pulled out. After getting the tongue piercing, my friend tipped, and as she did he turned to me and said "At least she tipped" (which I found extremely unprofessional). My friend kept saying after she got pierced that the tongue piercing felt tight. She ended up looking up tongue piercings and it said that tongue piercings should NEVER be pierced with a short bar or with anything other than titanium or surgical grade steel. He pierced my friend with a short plastic bar, which made it prone to infection. Due to this, my friend took off her piercing less than an hour after she got it (she now has two visible holes in her swollen, numb tongue. This shop may be cheap compared to other shops, but it is not worth it to go here. Spend a little more money and get pierced elsewhere.

So at first I thought it was cool when I walked in and they could get me right in. Instead of the 100 minimum they only charged me $70 (ended up being $80 though for a simple cross)... At first it didnt look too bad, the two lines were a little wiggly. Its 3 months later and I just had to get it completely fixed at a different tattoo parlor because it was very very messed up. The TWO lines were both crooked and raised up. There was a black dot underneath one of the lines. The new tattoo place I went to said rather than going the 1-2 mm deep that tattoos are supposed to go, whoever did mine (I forgot who it was) went over 2 cm deep. He described it as instead of 1-2 dimes stacked on top of each other, they did 6-8 dimes deep into my skin. The new guy that did the tattoo said it was really messed up. The first time it got done at East Coast Ink, it hurt unusually bad because the angle the needle went in, and how deep it went cause so much pain. My entire tattoo is scar tissue and raised up and is completely hideous. (Well now its not because its fixed to look better). But the actual tattoo will be scarred now and raised for ever. I did exactly what the aftercare told me to do, so my aftercare was not the problem. The guys are really nice and the place was clean, and I know other people who have gotten amazing work done here... But my tattoo was VERY awful. I guess thats what I get from walking in and getting a tattoo from a guy who was sitting there drinking a beer.

When I entered the shop the first thing I did was asked to use the restroom . it was extremely clean, and so was the shop from stem to stern. Jimmie is very meticulous about the cleanliness of his shop and his work. I told him what I wanted on some lettering and I was happy with it but he suggested something a little different and what a difference it made! I was very happy with it! His still set as an artist is top notch when it comes to detail. I was asked several times if I needed coffee, as I was in the chair for quite a few hours, which by the way are extremely comfortable. Ive been in several shops and this one is the best by far. The atmosphere along with Jimmies work makes this one of the best shops by far.he is so self conscious about giving you what you want hes definitely a force to be reckoned with in the industry his customer service is great I will be back....good luck Jim East coast rock on
