The manager stepped over the counter yelling at me and my two boys (ages 5 and 8) to leave the farm, because I pointed out that the sign "Buy what you pick" was covered by a pumpkin. My boys were in tears and are still in shock by the rudeness and agressivity of the people there. I am sure the inhabitants of the area and the farm itself are really great, but as far as Friendly Place goes, this is not it. It was the first time for me and my boys to go apple picking. We drove all the way from New York. Naturally, they went crazy on picking the apples that had fallen on the floor, because there was really nothing left on the trees. I didnt stop them thinking we were doing a service to the place because they would put them on their own baskets and sell them to the public as they do with all the vegetables they harvest. When I mentioned this to the manager, she charged over the counter, angrily pointing her index finger 3 times towards the door, and in a very heavy accent screamed at us " Leave them and get out of here! Leave them and get out of here! Leave them and get out of here!" My poor boy with tears in his eyes and his little voice trembeleing out of fear and emotion said "But we really picked them from the floor and the sign is covered by a pumpkin." (Hes in third grade and reads everything in sight.) I turned to them and tried to calm them by saying that when faced with rudeness, anger, hostility, imaturity and ignorance, they should be the best they can, keep cool and walk away peacefully. Im trying to raise efficient human beings not angry and impolite people. This was not about the money, if youre thinking thats why I may have refused to buy. No, it was the principle behind it (about negligence and obstructing the view) and their lack of understanding and common sense. I had planned to spend a lot of money to make the day worth while and to make this a day to remember, so I carried $300 cash on me. We simply call this "The Farm and Field Day From Hell"

On August 21, my wife and I drove from Voorhees, NJ to the Conte Farm in Tabernacle, NJ in search of peaches that are superior in quality. What better place than an orchard, one would think. We found peaches in small baskets and some placed on a wooden table for $1.50 per pound. We opted for the loose peaches. Two days later, they ripened to the point where they could be consumed. However, upon slicing one of them, the peach had the mealy consistency and was quite tasteless. Why - simple answer, they had been carried back to the cold room every night and returned to the table every morning until they were sold. This absolutely destroys the natural ripening process. Pick your own (no price advantage, by the way, or simply stay away - perhaps the best option.

Weve been going to Contes for the past 6 years. We usually have a great time and the prices are cheaper than Johnsons farm. We always go for strawberries, blueberries, apples and pumpkins. We havent made it out this year yet, but in last couple of years they do charge a fee to ride the wagon if you dont pick anything. Johnsons farm is nice too, but more of a tourist attraction. We usually go to Johnsons once a year and we go to Contes on a regular basis for "pick your own." We also love to get their ice cream and or dougnuts when we go.

Im 27 but can still remember going their like it was yesterday. I was too young to notice if the employees were rude or not, but if they were i doubt my parents woud have taken us as much as they did. My brothers and i couldnt wait for the tractor ride, it was our favorite part! When i have kids, ill take them and hope they are able to keep some memories like i did. If they dont like the place ill just throw them off the tractor and let them find their way to the truck :) lol Make sure you try some of their apple cider doughnuts!!!

The quality of customer service is terrible to say the least. I was over charged and then screamed at when it was brought it to their attention. I have been a patron of Contes farm for over 10 years. Now I am sad to say I will never return. Their employees are very unprofessional to the patrons. I have heard this over the past few years and always defended Conte Farm by saying "I absolutely love it there." Unfortunatley, I found out the hard way. Anyone in the area should steer clear of this establishment!!

This place was very clean and had a great selection of products. The hay ride was fun and my family had a blast.

It used to be fun but beware. They have started charging $2.00 for the wagon ride to pick. How tacky!
