Obviously people are not used to the price of really good coffee in general--thats up to double the $8/lb one of the other reviewers calls ridiculous. Their fruits and veggies, deli selections, prepared soups, meats (butcher if you want something specific) and specialty items (organic broth for the same price as canned salt water thats passed off for broth) and the occasional British shortbread are all regular staples. I go in the evening after work, never crowded, staff are always cheerful and helpful. No store that size will be perfect, the few times it doesnt meet my expectations in some manner I dont worry about it. (If there were half star ratings Id do a 4 1/2, but the 5 balances some of the unreasonable expectations of others.) If you shop on the weekend during prime time, do plan on not being in a hurry. (That said, when you do make it to the checkout line its still much better than at the regular supermarket.). Also shop at Fairway in Brooklyn.

Awful. Try to get something, ANYTHING from the deli and be prepared to wait a minimum of 30 mins during peak hours. I waited today 40 mins for them to go through 11 numbers. Whats even more infuriating is that the managers walking by dont seem at all concerned about the mile long line and the fact that they are significantly understaffed. No, instead they are having a great time, laughing, even chit-chatting with the same deli people who are supposed to be serving us, leaving the rest of us idiots standing around wondering why we come to a store with service like this. Finally, Id like to add that, while the guys working the deli counter are good people, they often wander off somewhere when they see the line is cut in half; thus, adding another 20 mins to the wait.

I love Fairway! The selection is amazing and the prices are very reasonable, plus there are always lots of things on sale. For gluten-free shopping, it cant be beat. I describe it to people as the "ghetto Whole Foods" - its not as pretty as WF, but it has as good a selection of unusual products at much better prices. The layout is a bit maze-like, and its a bit weird that the "organic/healthy/specialty/foreign" foods are together in one half of the store, and the mainstream things are in another. So if Im not sure I want Pacific Organics or Kitchen Basics stock, I have to go to two completely different aisles to compare. Once you figure that out, though, you wont be as perplexed to find the soy yogurt in a different aisle from the Yoplait.

Fairway Paramus is simply the best store around. I do all the shopping for my household, and have been to every supermarket in the surrounding area. You cannot beat their customer service, as well as the quality of the food. The deli is simply the best. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and always willing to go the extra mile. I cannot say that about my local A&P! The meats and produce blow away the other stores. Although they may not always be the cheapest place around, I dont mind spending the extra to get a better grade of food in addition to a better shopping experience. I have made this store my main market. By the way, they do have specials every week that are usually terrific!

I just returned from Faiway and was not vey impressed. The prices on certain items are very good on others overpriced. The prepared foods can be good but it is not consistent. We went to by some fish and the person next to us said the fish he had last week was dry. The help varies from clueless to eh! Several times I was sent to the wrong isle and never did someone come up to me and offer to show me where something is. I have found better and fresher fruits in a number of other places. Certain things are very good there but they are by no means a great store in my opinion.

I love Fairway in Manhattan--the original store--and this is a giant version of the original. We visited on a trip to friends in New Jersey. The selection is astounding for the most part although some things we get on visits to Manhattan, they did NOT have here. Most distressingly they had NO salmon caviar!!! We sorely missed that as an accompaniment to the smoked salmon we got. For this reason and because the ambiance of the original is lacking I rated this Fairway three stars.

i just returned from Fairway,Paramus and will never ever return. I bought an avocado that was price marked as $1.50 and was charged $2.50. I called the store and the phone was finally answered. I asked to speak to the store manager and the person who answered the phone implied that she was the store manager and when I told her what had happened, she responded that she would check and promptly hung up on me............

Fairway market anyone whos never been should definitely check it out. Its a better version of shoprite mets Whole Food. Prices are more expensive but the butchers and fish section look and are fresher. They have hot meals to sit and eat a lot of variety BRITISH products for any brits. Finding this fairway is confusing when getting off the highway. You have to drive around the back rather annoying.

Overall, its good store. A bit pricey, but you definitely pay for quality. I like the cheese section. The only reason I didnt give five stars is that the ready made buffet looked rather old on my way home from work last night. Its a shame... because youd figure us "on the go" peeps would grab a ready made dinner on their way home from work. My chicken was rather dried out.

The variety of food choices from vegetables, fish and meat are top notch. In addition, the store has organic food choices fresh or frozen. Plus, prepared foods such as chicken, salads, soups and dinners. The store sells liquor and flowers. There is a large selection of cakes, pastries and breads..The store sells cleaning supplies, etc...Fairway has stores in NJ and NY

The products and prices of Fairway are pretty diverse and competitive, respectfully. This place is a solid alternative to similar slightly more upscale markets such as Whole Foods. The management of the store seems to be in a slight disarray at times. They have a pretty respectable beer selection. There is also still a Blimpie attached to it for some reason.

Fairway is a wonderful store to shop in. We enjoy the great variety of products and the "experts" in all of the specialty sections that help us feel comfortable trying new things. The catering department and bakery do an excellent job. My husband stops by for fresh bread and other treats three or four times a week! Thank you Fairway you enrich our lives.

Best fresh produce selection in town, large variety of niche products and great customer service. One trip I accidentally dropped a $50 bottle of scotch whiskey and the staff were more concerned that I wasnt hurt and got me another bottle without needing to compensate for the broken one. Customer for life with that experience.

I like this store because they offer a little more than my local chain supermarket. Its a higher-end grocery store, but the prices are a little higher also. Not as fancy as Whole Foods, but also not AS expensive. There is a pretty nice olive bar and the meats and cheeses are not too shabby. They also sell wine and beer here.
