Ive been in here in town for 40 yrs. and I only came to Fairway Beef two months ago, when it was closed, after 3PM. Came back the next day at noon. What I found was its cold in there. Wear a coat and a warm hat. Always a test of a good butchery is the hamburger. I bought 3lbs. Red, dense and fresh all the way through. Got the pork chops. Pink, fresh and well trimmed reminding me of my old days back in Tennessee. I bought the Xlge. eggs. I saw pallets of them and knew the diners came here to buy. Avoided the supermarket "thumb squads" and got my fresh veggies and ruby fatso beefsteak tomatoes. The prices are the best. Stocked up. Everyone there; customers and workers, were quite friendly. It can get crowded, but thats the way things are and we all did just fine. Checkouts are 50s style with the paper receipt and all. Charming, simple and quick. Service is precise. No, it doesnt carry everything, but who needs that. Since then, Ive bought more with the lesson to come early and on the right day. PS: I put it all in a party cooler in the trunk of the car, take it all home and store it, then go out to the other stores with a list and come back home blaming myself for not buying more at Fairway. Advice? Come to Fairway first, then go elsewhere if you must. Fairway is now my food shopping home. Theres no place like home. Theres no place like home.

I needed a prime rib roast for my holiday meal and when I asked the staff at Fairway Beef for the price and serving amounts, they told me I needed 15 pounds and they told me the price. So, I had my husband pick up the roast and they tried to charge us $2 more per pounds but if I bought 20 pounds instead of 15, they would give us the lower price. They finally honored the original quote after debating the issue. I served the roast for Christmas and it was good, but I had twice as much meat as I needed.

Wicked cheap, wicked good beef, and wicked friendly employees. I dont get down there as much as I should because I dont live as close anymore. I still go there every now and then and it is always worth it. Cant beat their ground beef - it makes the best burgers.

Found out Mark will unload you on Sunday if you call him Saturday. Unloaded quick and had me out of there. Overnight parking for no more than two trucks nice diner across the street under overpass that I will try next time

Great place well worth the trip! NEVER go to the grocery store for meat. They are good, knowledgeable people, most have worked there for years. What does that tell you?

Incredibly cheap foods that are often frozen, if youre on a budget you cant go wrong. Bring a coat (even in summer!).
