Suggestions: Everything really was outstanding and we didn’t have a particular “favorite”, however the macaroons were THE BEST I have ever eaten Pros: Gillato was epic, truffles were really good and unique, had a lot of flavor options for both the macaroons and the truffles, attention to detail Cons: Parking, the pastry they used for the eclair was just good Thoughts: So my wife is definitely more of the desert person that me but this place is like a magical factory of the most delicious and creative deserts imaginable. Just as an example, they make something they call the “Ice Cream Po’ Boy”, it three scoops of ice cream sandwiched between two eclair pastries, and drizzled with chocolate and caramel sauce. Everything at this place was absolutely amazing, with one minor exception; the eclair pastry was just good. Honestly I dont think it would have stood out as much except that everything else was of such high quality. Ice cream, amazing; chocolate, smooth and delicious; pastries and cakes, practically perfect. As yet another example of their outstanding quality; I dont really like macaroons, they are often dry and too firm. These were unbelievably good, I didnt know a macaroon could taste this good. The "cookie" was firm but with a moist, slightly chewy consistency; and the filling was so mouthwatering. To top all of that off the flavors were very unique and each that I tried was wonderful. I will say that the location on magazine street is definitely better than the one in the French quarter. Parking is better, they have outside seating, and the overall atmosphere is just a little less hectic and crazy. Sucrè is one of the highlights of my culinary experiences in NOLA and I desperately wish I was able to come back. If you live in NOLA, or if youre driving through NOLA you absolutely MUST visit.

Found the website doing foodie searches while on the phone with a friend. I adore New Orleans culture and when I saw King Cake by mail, I knew I had hit the jackpot. I do judge books by covers and the Sucre photos were more than I could handle. My order would have been for far more than the King Cake and macaroons if only I had the money in my pocket. Anyway, had to get 2 day shipping and that upped the cost enormously. However, 2 day for perishable goods is absolute wisdom. My order arrived and I was absolutely "WoWed" by the flavors and appearance of everything. The pastries were wonderful, packaging, AND Langinappe! Beads, baby, and a beautiful pink grosgrain ribbon. Dont laugh, I happen to be very fond of lovely, excellent quality, ribbons. The King Cake did NOT disappoint. The flavor was so delicate with cinnamon and rich with butter and cream cheese. The macaroons were a completely unique experience to me. Id never had such a thing. I regret that I was not able to eat a whole one to myself. I had to cut each and every one into quarters so that my husband and 2 sons could have their share. They stood around me like perched hawks waiting to attack. Anyhow, it was fabulous and if only I had the cash, I would certainly order again!

DESSERT HEAVEN!! okay, sure, Im biased. I love dark truffles, macaroons, and wine -- all of which they have plenty at Sucre. For $14, you can have 4 delectable truffles paired with a glass of poison of your choice. For me, it was a glass of Cab which went perfectly with the dark truffles that the store clerk recommended. As for the macaroons, they carry 12 different flavors. I took home a box of 15 so that I can sample all the flavors plus more. As promised, the macaroons lasted more than a week. I ate them slowly, indulging throughout the week. These macaroons are on the crispy airy side. My favorite was the hazelnut. A box of 15 cost $23 making each macaroon about $1.50. Price wise, this is pretty typical for macaroons. They also have rows of pastries which unfortunately I was too full to taste. They did look delicious though! P.S. dont waste your breath on the gelato -- its not their forte. Skip the front and head straight to the chocolate and macaroons! Extra star - they close at midnight! skip the dessert at the restaurant and head over to Sucre after dinner instead!

This adorable little sweet shop has some of the yummiest macarons you will ever taste. They have wonderful flavors like pistachio, salted caramel and vanilla but our favorite is the peanut butter and jelly. They seem to always have some flavors while they play with the flavor choices of others. The PB&J isnt always available. Of course they have other desserts, too and a lovely case full of gelato. Some of the desserts come paired already with a gelato others come by them selves. We have only eaten the macarons, so I can only attest to the dessert plates and gelatos as looking amazing and smelling fantastic. You will also find a full coffee bar with great smelling cappuccino, espresso and regular coffees. I cant wait to stop in again and try some of their white-chocolate cheesecake and get a latte.

Great place. In the touristy Magazine St stroll. Great desserts, Gelato, macaroons, and all kinds of other high end, high calorie, goodies. I had 2 scoops of Gelato. One was coconut/basil. It had the barest hint of sweet basil in a mild coconut flavor. Very tasty in both a light dessert and savory way. The other Gelato I had was hazelnut chocolate. Nice mild hazelnut flavor on a light chocolate base. The girl who would be my girlfriend had 2 scoops also. Peppermint on dark chocolate w/ fudge sauce. She says its "Yum".. Its she also says its... $$$ Expensive !! (She paid, lol). Beautiful display cases full of delicious looking macaroons, cakes, cookies, Gelato, and other sweets. Clean, inviting place.

Beautiful displays. All staff except lady serving ice cream, seemed unhappy to be there. Took quite awhile for any of them to offer to help us. They were restocking pastries & while brining a plastic tub of eclairs from the back, a staff member coughed over them. Needless to say, I quickly changed my mind about buying any pastries. We bought a box with 2 of several different kinds of chocolates. The chocolates were nice. Good textures & nice flavor profiles & flavor development in most. We almost went with ice cream since the lady serving it was the only nice, helpful staff member, but our plan was to get deserts to try for later & the ice cream wouldnt have lasted til we got it to a feezer.

My grandmother and I recently visited the Metairie Sucre (near Lakeside Shopping Center). Initially, I planned on just stopping in for a quick cup of gelato, but my grandmother and I ended up trying the key lime gelato, red velvet cake, strawberry macaroon, and a piece of wedding cake chocolate. All I can say is that everything I tried tasted heavenly and I'm now asking everyone for Sucre gift cards for Christmas! The shop had a great atmosphere the service was top-notch. I'm engaged, and I'm seriously considering ordering my wedding cake from Sucre (and possibly some macaroons as wedding favors)!

Ive been to many pastry/sweet shops in all my life (some of them even outside of the US) but I have never seen anything like Sucre! This place rocks! My wife had Funky Monkey (chocolate + banana) pastry sweet while I had a pistachio gelato. Both of these were just spectacular. I never had a pistachio gelato as good this...not even close. This is all done by the Chefs (world class); it resembles a work of art. Top quality. Expect to pay a little bit higher than your average high end pastry/sweet shop (+20%), but its worth every penny! Cant wait to go back....
