I have been to the LSU bookstore, the Chimes Text Exchange, and Co-Op bookstore. They all carry pretty much the same selection of books (Chimes often doesnt have many upper level books), but, most every time Ive looked for bargains, they have all been best at Co-Op. Co-Op sell all their used books to you at better prices than either of the alternative stores. I understand where some of the other reviewers are coming from when they say that they were treated like cattle, but when school is starting up that store kind of turns into a farm. There are literally students on every single isle. The staff does their best to be as friendly and as helpful as possible, but when there are 100 plus students walking around your store, its hard to help everyone to the fullest extent that they may want. I have been treated very well on most occasions though. Especially when business is fairly slow.

This is one of my favorite bookstores ever. Every time I walk by, I have to battle the urge to step inside, a battle I always lose. Which is super bad since my grocery store is around the corner. They dont have the widest selection which is not to say their selection is bad or anything, but they have the best atmosphere. Its a browsers bookstore. Ive definitely plopped down in one of their stools and just devoured bits and pieces of books for over an hour. Its a nice little piece of quite, and theres always something interesting to read.

Holy mother of GOD is this a huge bookstore.Never in my life have I seen this many books in one place. When I went in it was daytime. When I left it was dark. The Strand is like a black hole it sucks you in, devours time and never lets you leave empty handed.I found books here that I didnt even know I wanted.I spent far more than I could afford. Its be careful when you enter this place it will steal your mortal soul.

The Co-Op store has a rich assortment of all types of art supplies and LSU themed clothing. Many college textbooks are available for purchase, as well. The Baton Rouge painter, Kieth Morris, clued me in to this place for buying certain types of art supplies. There is MUCH to see here.

Great selection of odds and ends art supplies. A little more pricey than most supply stores. Inconvenient hours of operation, or I would go there for all my LSU supply needs.

On too many occasions, the store has lacked basic items such as scantrons and blue books. The employees also have a hard time pretending to care that youre in their store.

I found it incredibly easy to walk in, locate my textbooks, and check out. Though the staf wasnt overly friendly, I did walk out satisfied.
