The staff is generally helpful, though the lady who runs the place seems to be in a bad mood, more often than not. They have the highest prices for their products than any other store I have been to. They also have a few items I cannot find anywhere else, which is the only reason I continue to shop here. I have been a customer since their first location on Green Street: the one that got flooded in the 1980s. I would give this store more stars, but the female owners rude presence on Facebook and in person has taken a turn for the worst. Special orders used to be a courtesy they would provide. Youd leave your name, number, and item desired, and they would order it for you. Sure, it might take a month to get in, but that was no bother. When it arrived, they would call you. The same request now gets you a nasty glare, a futile exercise in filling out a special order form, only to have them completely overlook your number when the item arrives. If it wasnt for the limited availability of this item, online and at other stores, I would definitely have gone elsewhere. Following with a conversation I had with the female owner regarding the steps necessary to show work in their gallery (and receiving no answer but that they accepted groups, only, and they were booked for 2 years), I saw a post that made me rather angry. They complained that people would ask them about showing in their gallery, but then condemning the same people for not spending enough money at their store. Well, excuse me. I thought spending in excess of $8000 over the last 20 years was a lot of money. Go figure. I never checked back to see if the post was later removed. I now know how customers are regarded. For those of you who have seen "Dont Be a Menace", this will make sense. "HURRY UP AND BUY."

Artcoop. The only real Art Store in Urbana Champaign.
Lets start with the cons:
Extremly overpriced
And the pro's. The staff are super friendly and always happy to help you out with anything. I go in quite often, just to kill time sometimes(work near) and get ideas for colors or things I might need. Never have I felt like it's buy or get out.
You never feel rushed, like most places. Can actually take your time.
Been shopping here for ages :)

The staff is very helpful and kind. They helped me find everything I had on a list I needed for a class. They were very patient too. The store has all the supplies an artist could ever want and more. A very amazing local store that Ill keep supporting.

A cool, locally owned shop with lots of supplies and a knowledgable staff. Several U of I and Parkland teachers send their students here. Check out their gallery - its one of the best parts of the new location (and the openings are fun to go to).
