I recently bought a pH testing kit at Hop City and was assured by the sales associate that the testable range of the kit was correct for beer (3.0 to 4.0). I questioned his knowledge several times because my local brew shop from home sold kits with a range of 4.0 to 6.0. My local brew shop is a quirky place so I was convinced that Hop City was the final authority. Wrong!! Checking up on this after the fact, I learned that a pH range of 3.0 to 4.0 is for wine. Furthermore, my quirky local place sells their pH kits for around 5 dollars so I didnt pay much attention to Hop City as they totaled my bill because the sales associate dashed away to pull the kit off of the shelf for me as he was convincing me with his faulty knowledge. Surprise! The kit was $25!! Long story short, this is definitely not a helpful place for serious brewers.

Selection is amazing. Staff is super helpful. The beer layout is kind of weird (or maybe Im just a noob). They do it by style which is cool but I prefer by brewery location. Not that this really matters... Oh probably worth noting that it is super easy to get to even though it is sort of down town. Ive never had a problem with parking or anything. The one problem I have with Hop City (and again this is a really small problem) is that if you want singles you need an employee to get them for you (in most cases). Im the kind of guy that like to just walk around and if something looks cool just grab it.

This is the best beer store ever. The depth of their selection makes Total Wine look like the Quickie Mart. Way. The wine selection seems to be interesting too but I just never have any budget left by the time I’m through with the beers. Go buy a case of something if you have any decency whatsoever. They know their beers and are glad to provide advice. The brews are laid out by style – an aisle of IPAs, an aisle of stouts and porters, an aisle of pilsners…you get the picture. Hop City is on Marietta Street, just below 10th and just west of GA Tech. Next door to Five Seasons Brewing.

This has to be my favorite beer store in all of Atlanta. The selection is outstanding. The staff is amazingly helpful, they take their time to make sure you have what you need. They also provide great recommendations if you are looking for something new. Anytime I am downtown and have some time, I stop by. In fact Im here right now waiting outside, 30mins before they open. Thats dedication to a great establishment. Make sure you have TIME to look through everything. They also have a nice selection of wine, plus a big growler station. If you homebrew, they have you covered too!

Being from Maine originally I had little hope for finding my favorite hometown brews until I found this place. Luckily I was living just down the road and visited often. All-Star staff that asks a multitude of questions to find you a new beer/wine to try given your preferences. Growler service is also great, always have interesting new beers on tap. Theyd be the first to tell you but we all wish that they could give samples! (Perhaps thats why they are opening up a sister shop in Krog Street Market, where they are allowed to!)

This is not only a great Craft Brew spot with oodles of taps to choose from for your next Growler- and the largest selections of Micro Brews I have ever seen in the capitol city- ATL! but... incognito they have one of the best wine handcrafted Vino - Wine selections in W. Midtown as well! I found some rare older vintages that were just incredible- a 1997 Zinfandel wow. It is a fantastique find for anyone that does not want the commercial selections for Vino or Brews. I will return, looking for some gift selections!

Lots of great beer options! Be aware that the store is organized by style of beer with all the breweries mixed together, which can be tough if youre not used to that. I also hate the GA law that doesnt allow for tasting before filling growlers here, so you have to really know what you want unlike at stand-alone growler stores. Knowledgable staff (somewhat friendly) and it is possible to get singles instead of full packs if you ask them. Parking is decent on the street and adjoining parking lots.

Helpful and friendly staff here. Its my go-to craft beer store. Aisles are organized by categories so check the yellow signs. Theres always something new that comes in every week. Go to the Singles Adoption center to build your pack if you are not feeling more than 1 of the same thing. Just have to check the bottling dates though as some arent so fresh, or just check for the dust jacket. Theres a growler filling station and homebrewing supplies too. Theres no discount for paying by cash though.

My favorite beer and wine store in Atlanta hands down! They have an insane selection of Belgian beers and the staff are usually quite knowledgeable with most of the stuff in there store. There growler bar is pretty dang good too! And, for those that love sake, me, they have a great selection of sake too! Seriously, stop here, Octane, and 5 Seasons and youve completed Atlantas famous "Beer Triangle." Do the triangle...its legit!

Fantastic beer and wine selection with EXTREMELY helpful and knowledgable staff. On several occasions the staff have provided me with exceptional picks in both categories, for which ive recieved multiple compliments (I have no idea what im doing with wine - thats why I ask!). Although I havent done much homebrewing of my own, theyre well known for being an aweome resource for those so inclined.

A multitude of beers categorized by style. Lots of new finds and great classics, very helpful staff (one member helped me find beers according to country of origin) and a growler station/ tasting room! Bonus: homebrew supplies! They will special order specialty grains but keep most of the regular stuff in stock. Huge selection of hops too!

Pretty much the beer store you always hoped to find but wish you hadnt when you walk out with half the store. Great shop that has an insane amount of bottled beer. Then you add in the homebrew supplies and the wine. Then you find the giant growler wall. Super knowledgeable staff that really knows their product. Pet friendly too!

My friend brought me here last week and I was completely blown away. I was a little annoyed because I have been to beer distributors before and it is not interesting. But this was a whole colorful experience. Afterward, we chilled the beer and sat on the porch and tried them. Excellent place, now I look forward to coming back!

I live in Birmingham and frequent the Hop City there often. This place is a little smaller but just as awesome as the location in Birmingham. The staff were very nice and knowledgeable, and they had a huge selection of beer. The on tap options were plentiful as well. Definitely will stop back by next time we are in Atlanta!

I always go here for wine. They have an amazing selection and the staff are very friendly and always willing to help. They also have a chiller up front so you can chill any beverage in just a few minutes before heading out the door. They always have an awesome selection of beers on tap for growlers
