First let me say, the staff was super friendly. The exam was painless and quick. However, there was a diagnosis missed. I was seen as a patient by Dr Archdale, over the summer of 2015. I had a severe migraine, followed by partial loss of vision in one eye. I was told, it could be allergies. I was told it could be that, since it had been a few years since my last eye exam, that I needed a stronger prescription. However, that since I was not scheduled for this full eye exam, that I would have to come back (in two weeks) to have this full exam performed. Since I had to wait two weeks for this exam, I decided to visit a walk-in eye clinic, to get that exam right away (a partial loss of vision is big deal, that needed assessment right away). The walk-in eye clinic, sent me to a ophthalmologist, which thankfully squeezed me in the next day. However, between the walk-in clinic and the ophthalmologist, the migraine pain worsened, as did the loss of vision. I ended up in the ER getting emergency CT scans, and medication to manage the pain. I later that day saw the ophthalmologist, who sent me for an emergency MRI, that revealed optic neuritis, as well as another abnormality of the brain. This resulted in seeing a neurologist, and a continual need for follow-ups in the years to come. Thankfully within a few days of all of this, my migraine went away, my vision returned... However, had I waited those two weeks, or listened to Dr Archdales recommendation, my condition would have resolved, and I wouldnt have not been down a better path to treatment as a possible multiple sclerosis patient. So with that, I am thankful that I am proactive as a patient, however, disappointed that Dr Archdale did not have any sense of urgency with my ailments at that time.

I had a great experience at my initial appointment but when I went back in for my contact lense check up, before ordering my year supply, it all changed. At my first appointment I was told by 3 different employees that my contact company was running a huge rebate if I bought a year supply. I had them run me the numbers because I wanted to make sure that financially it was a smart choice to buy BOTH glasses and contacts. They told me I would have to pay $180 upfront and send in for a $120 rebate. $60 out of pocket in the end. When I went to pay today, I was told $240 upfront and a $120 rebate. That is now 2x as much as I budgeted to pay after rebate. Im so upset because $60 isnt just "chump change". Thats a lot of money to be off. Yes, you guys have a great looking facility and top of the line equipment but that doesnt do justice at the end of the day. I expect to pay what I am initially told and trusted your staff that they had told me correctly. I would have given you 5 stars before today because everyone is nice and I loved the options of not having to get dilated but in the end, money is a big deal to short someone.

We have been patients at Archdale Eyecare on 8th Street for 13 years. Like so many of the reviewers, I would have rated this facility and its optometrist highly, but something has changed about this place in the past year and we are no longer interested in being patients here. Our annual exams took over 2 hours for each of us, as the doctor bounced around from room to room waiting on other patients while our exams were scheduled. When I asked why, our doctor told us that Dr. Archdale had attended some conference (or webinar?) where he was taught how to overbook the appointments so that he maximizes his profit. For my contact fittings, the doctor had to end my appointment on three separate occasions because it was time for lunch. I was asked to reschedule my contact fitting on four separate occasions. The time between my exam and the last contact fitting was over 90 days, so my insurance benefit ran out for the year. The staff is no longer friendly and Dawn, the receptionist, has never been pleasant to patients. It all just adds up to an experience that we would not seek out again.

Never should anyone ever go to this business and be left intimated or manipulative. The front office staff was very rude and the office manager was very pompous. They also make you feel rushed and frustrated. For a healthcare establishment that should take of peoples eyesight they are not patient, empathic or welcoming. Someone should really consider replacing the personnel because they are not approachable. They literally bark at potential new patients who have good insurance coverage. I guess they do not want my business. No wonder there are nearly any cars outside their parking lot that in itself should have been an indicator not to even consider any eye evaluations, examinations or treatments Beware and be extremely cautious because there are far too many other eye doctors in Colorado springs to make appointments with Please think twice before giving them your time and money. I only wish I could give a zero to this review.

I have been going to archdale eyecare on lexington for over 5 yrs. I have never had an issue with my insurance not paying for my annual exam. The staff has changed, most of the new staff are not friendly and are not educated enough to answer my questions. When questioning why now my insurance will not cover my exam she stated it has always been that way unless I have a medical need. I let her know I have never had to pay out of pocket other than a co pay. She still stated to me that is how it has always been. Not once did she try to look into it further, to help me understand why I have not had to pay before now. I love the Drs here they are friendly and help ease my childrens nerves. So I am saddened that we will no longer be patients here. They should make sure their staff are friendly and are able to answer patients questions better than a script they read off of.

I was a patient of Archdales for 3 years and at first the staff was super friendly and Dr. Nicole was wonderful. However, 2 years ago I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Bauer (since Dr. Nicole was not available), and this ended up being a huge mistake. The front staff was very rude and not friendly at all. They acted like that I was bothering them. Dr. Bauer made a negative comment to me about my occupation and age, during my exam. The staff NEVER called me when my contacts and glasses were in their office. I have since switched optometrists and was diagnosed with an eye disease last year, that was never mentioned by Archdale, that takes several years to develop. There are much more knowledgeable optometrists in Colorado. Save your time and money, go somewhere else!!

Dr. Bauer is very thorough in his exam. I have been twice to see him in the last two years. The staff is always pleasant and cheerful. Elaine is always very helpful whether you call her on the phone or if you are in for a visit. I recently had the pleasure of working with a new associate (optician)-- Sandra. While new to Archdale, Sandra sure knew her stuff. She made some great recommendations and was very pleasant. It certainly is a nice environment and they have a great selection of eyewear. I would recommend Archdale to those who are seeking a professional office optical setting. They have more than enough to satisfy even the most finicky eye patient.
