...and I wasnt even a customer of theirs at the time! You see I almost got ripped off in a deal gone bad for an espresso machine that I had bought through an internet forum from someone in the Santa Cruz area coffee scene, and Scott Guglielmino specifically from Verve Coffee Roasters was kind enough to step in and help me out during the ordeal. He got in touch with the seller and took over the transaction on his companys behalf, sending the machine to me in perfect condition right after his intervening(mind you its like at least a fifty pound espresso machine were talking about here, so you know the shipping costs associated with that didnt come cheap). If it werent for Scott G. @ Verve, I have no doubt in my mind that Id be sitting here today out six bills of my hard-earned money and a one of a kind espresso machine. I cannot thank them enough for stepping in when they absolutely did not have to, seeing how they were not even associated with the seller at all, and helping out a fellow coffee enthusiast whom they did not know living halfway across the country from them. <--- If thats not the best customer service experience ever, then I have no idea what would be! By the way Ive since tried their Sermon espresso blend and I can honestly say that it has produced the most epic looking shots out of a bottomless portafilter Ive pulled to date. These guys know their stuff and theyre really good souls to boot;)

had a small regular coffee and an almond croissant. They dont serve coffee brewed with beans that are more than a week old roasted which makes this some of the best tasting coffee you can get! If you are possibly interested in roasting your own coffee beans in the future, taste this coffee and you will be amazed at how much better freshly roasted is. The croissant was absolutely perfect for me. It had all the right texture, flakes, and it even had custard inside! The staff there also really know their coffee. If you are at all interested in roasting or doing any of it yourself, they will definitely show you the right way!(or I can, although I think its better talking to the barista in person) If you would like the best experience: I suggest you come in the morning. Grab your order to go and walk down to the end of the road toward the ocean and you can watch the surfers go while you enjoy your breakfast!

Verve has consistently roasted the best coffee in the bay area (I take 12oz bags home from everywhere I travel) Their staff is always friendly, Ive had zero bad interactions in the 100+ times Ive stopped since they opened. They have opened multiple locations since, but Ill always be a veteran of the 41st store front. I live on the peninsula and surf down the street often. If youre in Santa Cruz for any reason, not stopping at any of verves locations is a shame.

After been through a weekend long without decent espresso in Monterey/Carmel/Pacific Grove, this place was heaven sent. The espresso is on par with Blue Bottle in SF. I cant speak to their specialty seasonal drinks but traditional espresso drinks are excellent. Service is excellent. It can be a little hard to hear due to the noise level but the staff has excellent coffee knowledge.

This place is not set up to give u what u ordered, it is only set up to look pretty! I ordered a double espresso to go, what I got was a single shot not to go, and when I said I needed it to go what I got was a dirty look, & it was unceremoniously dumped into a paper cup. Why was my order so hard to get right? Well thats the point - it wasnt that hard, but they couldnt do it!

If youre looking for the best quality coffee, this is the place to go. They roast their own beans next door, so its always super fresh. The baristas are LITERALLY Award Winning Coffee Professionals. But while they take their coffee seriously, the atmosphere is totally laid back and friendly. Each cup of coffee is a Perfect Experience, because thats what they strive for.

Great Coffee: FRESH, individually brewed, not over-roasted, not over-heated. The mochas are not over-sweet. The baked goods are as as good as any bakery--the apple bombs especially. Sometimes, the wait is long, sometimes the pastries are sold out, sometimes I wish it was a little less expensive---but the good beats the not-so-good by a long margin.

The title says it all. They make the best espresso shots, Cappuccinos, Lattes etc. in all of Santa Cruz County. Their drinks are even better than Lulu Carpenters and that is saying something. Their coffee beans are all roasted right next door in the businesses roasting house, so all their coffee is as fresh as possible. Excellent!

Great coffee, best in the area. The latte not only tastes amazing but the temperature of the beverage when they hand it to you is perfect and ready to drink. Memorizing to watch the baristas behind the counter pay close attention to every element and leaf art to take it to the next level. Go here, you will not be disappointed.

Has easy parking in back, outlets, and comfortable outdoor seating. Been here a couple times for pour overs, espressos, and snacks... Excellent every single time! A little quieter than the Pac Ave cafe, which is good for sitting and doing work. If you cant stand lines, go to Pac Ave; theyre better outfitted for efficiency.

If you like Santa Cruz, then you will like Verve Coffee. Every drink tastes like it is supposed, to except at Verve, it is the most idealized version of the drink. Coffee = amazing Mocha = amazing Bowl of Soul = of course its amazing Water = they havent figured out how to make water amazing, but it aint bad

Im all about supporting local joints and trying stuff out, and Im a huge tea freak! The "body of soul" was absolutely disgusting! Slightly sweet, slightly salty, thick. I took two sips and had to throw the rest away. It definitely reminded me of the last thing anyone would want to drink a cup of.

As a coffee snob from San Francisco, this place makes the cut. Theyve got great coffee and pull excellent espressos. They also have some innovative drinks that Id like to try. Cool vibes, and a bike rack outside. I found parking easy.

Verve consistently provides a great cup of coffee or espresso. Always served with the utmost care and without pretense. Whether you expect a perfectly weighted espresso pull or simply want a really favorable cup-of-joe, Verve has it!

Extremely over-rated. Ive been here three times. Once was my vanilla latte really good. The other times it was no different than fins, petes or any other. For these prices the coffee drinks should be phenomenal every time.

We have been going to The Verve since day one. It is so nice having a coffee shop that cares so much about their coffee. My wife loves the "Bowl of Soul." I am a huge fan of the cappuccino. Big ups to The Verve.

Excellent coffee, clean location with seating, free parking in the back. Cold brew, hot chocolate, and cookies are fantastic. Baristas and employees are friendly and helpful, unlike many independent coffee shops!
